Everything is kind of old and falling appart, there is dust everywhere, bed was not very confortable.. that was a bit of a deception as the price is quite high. Staff is friendly but not particularly helpful. They are more passive. Breakfast was fine, but we went in the kitchen afterwards and were not sure we would still eat there the morning after :/ wifi isn't working at all in the evening and very slow the rest of the time.
Nice bedroom, with clean towel, hot shower, television, and a nice breakfast. It`s located in downtown, nearby from some markets and plaza de armas. They have a tour agency called Scheler Artizon Trek. If you pretend to visit Huaraz, you must stay in Casabanca and use Scheler Artizon Trek services to do your trekkings.
The hotel is clean and nice and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. The schellar travel agent is great and helpful and gives you great value for money! Would recommend, the only annoying thing is that the market in front plays a recording all day, but at night it is fine. Would recommend this place!
An excellent hostel, once was a 3 stars hotel, but these days changed his character into a welcoming hostel. The rooms are big and comfortable, shower with hot water and strong water flow, good location near the market. A lovely staff that helped us in whatever we needed (speaks only Spanish, as most of the locals at Huaraz, but we could get understand and be understood with our English). And a freshly squeezed orange juice as a part of its continental breakfast, along with excellent coffee (included in the room price). Although the checkout is at 11 am, the owner suggested we'll stay at the room until our night bus, even due we didn't ask for it!
If you aren't looking for a five star hotel but somewhere clean and inexpensive to sleep then this place is a good choice. The people at the front desk are really nice and organize tours for you. So you can even go to Huaraz with no set plan/organized tours for the time that you are there and just ask the receptionists at Casa Blanca to take care of it for you. They offer you a good price too - this fact was what I found most useful about this hostel. Also, it is close to the plaza de armas (city center). Not more than a 10min walk.
I tend to choose my accommodation by whether there is parking available for a motorbike, so this would not have been my first choice for Huaraz as it was located in a busy area opposite the main market, but I was given a room at the back away from the main road, although the market only tends to be active between about 8.00 am and 5.00 pm, so not a major issue. The hotel is not that far from the town centre also. I booked a "double" room, but there were 4 single beds in the room I was allocated, though this was not a problem for a solo traveller. The rooms were clean, spacious, and had private facilities and TV, and a ready supply of hot water. I did not have to "ask" for things as suggested by other guests, and the room was serviced daily while I was out. The staff were very helpful, and breakfast was adequate (a basic breakfast was included in the price, but you could order extras if desired), and the price was very reasonable. I booked online but the priced displayed in reception are much, much higher, though I was charged the booked price! All in all a very nice play to stay in Huaraz.
I stayed here for two sets of 3 days in July. The prices went up 3-4 times on my second stay over the Independence holiday. Not sure where to start here: broken bathroom mirrors in both rooms neither of which were fixed, a stench coming from the bathroom in the 2nd room, a spring coming through the bed, wild dogs going crazy outside in the middle of the night, cold showers (had 3 out of about 10-12 showers with hot water), no number on my room, a door that rattled constantly because it didn't close properly, and the need to go downstairs every day to ask for the internet router to be reset. Be aware that none of the staff speaks English - so on a good note I got the opportunity to practice my Spanish. Also, the hotel is directly across the street from the central market so you can decide if this is good or not. It was close to the main tourist area, however the area behind the main plaza was quieter (and where I probably stay if I return). The hotel looks like it could have been quite nice a couple decades ago but the current staff doesn't really look like they have any ambitions to keep it up or improve the place now. Most of their time is spent laying around on the couches near the entryway or playing video games on the computer. I was really hoping for more, didn't need fancy, but just owners who exhibit a caring attitude that reflects pride in their establishment.
First things first, this is mega cheap or what you get. When we arrived we were shown to our rooms but they gave us two rooms of 3 single beds. For two married couples, not ideal. We asked for double bed rooms and they kindly obliged. One thing to remember: ask for everything... The room had a TV, no remote. Ask. The towels were not changed. Ask. Need more toilet roll. Ask If you can manage to ask for things, it makes this place pretty good. One problem we had was the noise, not street noise but people arriving and leaving late or early and doing so very loudly. Again...not the hostels fault. Free wifi was good but stopped working....Ask and it was rebooted :) You may see a pattern emerging here. Free breakfast was included which consisted of bread, butter, jam, juice and coffee. We are there the first morning but found other places for the days after as we needed something a little more substantial. Good location. Fair service. Reasonable rooms. Good for the money.
