Just a Paradise for Nature lovers! Great breakfasts and exeptionally friendly Staff - William and his wife Lolly. For 7 nights I felt like a part of their Family. Yes, the place is located a bit away from the village, but Willy always offer a lift there and back. Yes, there's no room service, mini bar, nor spa. If You need all that, spend much more money and stay in one of the luxury resorts. Sadly the place is for sale now, so better hurry if You love to be a close to the Nature and not to far from the civilization. To me a hot water in the shower, A/C and fridge in the room was more than enough. Don't care about the Internet (but it's there, in dining room area), nor TV service when on vacation.

If you want to got to Belize and get a Belizean experience then I would recommend the River House Lodge. If you want to stay in a resort and hang around the pool eating $40 dollar hamburgers go somewhere else, like Hawaii though you can go stay at one of the resorts in Placencia or Hopkins. Those places are windy, dusty and have no shade or character. William and his wife Lolette are the managers of the River House Lodge. They were welcoming and friendly. My room came with breakfast which Lolette cooked. Eggs, bacon, fruit, toast or fried bread juice and coffee. Perfect! The rooms are not fancy but plenty adequate and had air conditioning which can be a blessing on the very hot/humid days in Belize. I was in the upstairs room that had a kitchenette, two queen beds and a screened veranda. The Lodge is right on the beautiful Sittee River. They have lighting that attracts fish at night and you could see a number of different fish species if you took the time to look. There are iguanas traipsing about the property and while I was there the mangos were ripe and falling off the trees. It could be a little startling when the hit the metal roofs but once you knew to expect it its not that bad. William and Lolette are native to the area and well connected with various tour providers so they can help arrange tours to do anything that you like. This part of Belize is situated perfectly as a jumping off point for just about anything there is to do from zip lining to scuba diving.

I enjoyed the Lodge. It was comfortable enough and the Hosta, Williams and Lolett were great! The location was off the beaten path and very quiet. I enjoyed the river just outside the room. The breakfast every morning was fantastic! A great way to start the day. I would recomend this to anyone visiting Belize. Thanks for a nice stay!
