The staff was amazing and accommodating. I felt Andrew went above and beyond, but they were all friendly and very helpful. They provided great suggestions for dining and entertainment from an insiders point of view.
The hotel itself was “tired.” The hall carpets were stained and worn. The rooms were slightly dated with the bathrooms having mold in the tub caulking, but otherwise clean. The veranda was a nice touch but the furniture was mildewed and had broken webbing making only one seat useable (and leaving white marks on your clothing.
There were no extra blankets, so I was either hot or my wife cold. Also, home keeping only comes every three days and one one of them, they only left a single bath towel… other hotels leave four as a standard.
They charge a crazy amenity fee (for wifi, pool, breakfast, beach towels/chairs, housekeeping, shared daily newspapers, and daily calls - $41.29 PER NIGHT!)
The pool was only open from 10am-7:00pm… when no one is at the hotel. When we came back for the evening (after dinner), the pool was already closed.
One day, the elevator was closed for repair so we had climb eight floors… in an uncooled stairwell. Not fun.
The continental breakfast was a joke. There were a few bulk cereals, fruit (oranges, bananas, and apples), prepackaged Little-Debbie style pastries, coffee, and watered down guava juice. Breakfast is ONLY two hours (7-9 am), and we were gone on tours most mornings by 6:45 so we missed breakfast. The days we ate
