I spent three nights there as i prepaid bad mistake the room had too many doors so when when i would take a drive all valuables went with me sat once with owner's wife heard complaints about family and i gave good ideas on how to make more money with indian jewelry she brought back from last trip to india.Next tay packed all, and drove left my very expensive pillows with my very expesive pillocases on them came to get them was tolld by the that there was a lot of dog hair when went to see someone was already in the room and as the very expensive pillowcases they threw them in the garbage and pillows they gave it to their son but here it after i threw a fit after they tried to stain it lightly because hey if I were to refuse , their woudn'nt want it either, but to their surprise i took them back and i will get insurance on them. GO TO THEM IF YOU HAVE HAPPY MEMMORIES OF HOTELS IN INDIA!

The Village Inn Motel and Apartments is old style but we found it clean, spacious and with a good king sized bed. On top of that the motel is walking distance from lots of restaurants, bars and coffee shops. A 15 walk gets you to grocery and drug stores. Just down the street is Veterans Memorial Park is you want a pleasant stroll in the evening. We are likely to be back in the Lansing area in the future and will certainly stay here again. I can only guess that the negative reviews reflect unrealistic expectations on the reviewer's part.

I stayed at this hotel and accidentally left a very expensive coat. I called the next day and was told they could not mail I would have to pick it up! Finally I was told they could mail it. Due to a language barrier the and I was speaking to could not take my address. I was told that someone would call me to get the address. That never happened. When I called back I was told they threw it away! If they had a negative star I would use it!

Ripped, nasty furniture. Bed was OK, and shower was fine, but room was filthy. And I am a guy who regularly eats out of dumpsters. If it were not near 0 degrees outside, I would have rather slept outside on some cardboard.

I was thinking the negative reviews had to be a bit harsh ..... they were not. We booked two nights and couldn't bring ourselves to stay the second night. Probably shouldn't have stayed the as far as that goes. The best description of the smell would be ; massive amounts of Febreze trying to unsuccessfully mask overwhelming cigarette odor. Tried to save some money as this motel was about half the price of others .......... Big mistake on my part as we cut our visit short.

Nasty motel straight out of the movies. We stayed here for 2 nights for MSU vs UofM weekend. Asked for 2 twins got 1 king. Tube TV on a weird make shift desk/dresser. Kitchenette mostly ripped out. Whole room stained and yellowed. Bathroom mirror pushed in and on a permanent 45 degree angle. Shower drain barely worked so you ended up standing in filthy water. 2 creepy doors in the room with black out windows that were locked. Not sure where these led to. Would NOT stay here again. $60/night and about 15 min from campus but not even worth that.

The Village Inn is old and admittedly a bit dilapidated, but the positives far outweigh the negatives. I was almost put off by the dreadful reviews, but there were some good ones, too, and I'm very glad I decided to try it. We found it to be clean and very comfortable. I had requested two beds and got two spacious rooms instead of the usual cramped arrangement one finds in motels--privacy. Plus a kitchenette with microwave, fridge, sink with garbage disposal and a fair-sized table. There was also a hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Not to mention the best price in town. A short trip up Cedar Street will bring you to every fast-food restaurant imaginable and some very good independent restaurants as well. There are also pharmacies and convenience stores close by. There is also a shopping center and a superstore not too far away where you can find everything you forgot to pack.

The room I was in was very big with a small kitchenette. Since the motel is surrounded by busy streets, the street noise was evident until about 10 or so. But the motel clerk was friendly and efficient and the room, while not ultra modern, was clean and comfortable. The price was right and the place was a good value if you're not looking for anything more than a place to sleep and a hot shower in the morning.

I am a positive person by nature, but it was really hard for me to find any positives in this place. To begin, the front office smells absolutely disgusting. As I was checking in, I was gagging on the smell of curry and other potent "cultural" smells that I found later, when checking out, actually penetrated through two steel doors. Here are the list of things: 1) The smell coming from the unplugged frig was absolutely horrendous upon entering the room. 2) The attendants do not speak English 3) The TV's have two stations, if they come in clearly 4) The windows do not lock, they are chocked by 2x4 pieces of scrapped wood 5) Your two bedroom stay is actually another door that the attendant comes in to unlock with a different key, so do not accidentally lock yourself out of your "two bedroom" stay 6) The towels are the size of napkins 7) There is no phone in the room - make sure your cell phone is charged in the event of an emergency and if you need anything during your stay, be prepared to walk yourself to the disgusting front office. 8) The water pressure in the shower actually hurts - I had to drape a rag over it. 9) The signs say no smoking, but people obviously smoke in these rooms 10) Spend the extra $30 and stay somewhere that is sanitary The only positives I could find... 1) The sheets seemed clean - although the ones in the back room had tons of holes in it, etc. 2) I did not see any bugs in the room - I was one cockroach away from sleeping in my car 3) The area seemed "safe," despite my initial fear when checking in through a front office that had 2 inch glass to protect the attendant.

Upon opening the door of the first room to which we were assigned, my boyfriend and I were greeted by the overwhelming stench of mustiness and mold. A quick survey of the room revealed that our only light source would have to come from a lone lamp perched on an otherwise barren nightstand. Although the refrigerator door was missing its handle, I was eventually able to pry it open, where I found remnants of old food and a long clump of hair hanging to the center shelf by a clump of grey mold. The toilet in the bathroom was covered with hair and stains of indistinguishable origin, as was the shower. When my boyfriend peeled back the covers of the bed to inspect the sheets, he found more hair, as well as makeup-stained pillowcases covering lumpy pillows that had yellowed from years of head-sweat. The final straw came when I got up from sitting on the bed and noticed several ants crawling around in the area where I had just been sitting. The manager denied that the room was dirty, but eventually agreed to provide us with a new room. Although the smell of the new room was somewhat less pungent, I would be lying if I said it was much cleaner. The griminess of both rooms, coupled with the fact that the heater in the new room must have been installed in 1955, made for a sleepless night spent shivering and scanning the room for any additional insect intruders.
