wonderful views. spacious cottage friendly welcoming host ( thank you again for the wonderful fresh laid eggs) everything you need for a long or short stay. Good info about the area and cottage at hand. Take time to read it. Very clean. lovely outdoors, cattle and donkeys. We didn't get time to walk around the fields down to the lake, maybe next time.
2nd time stay. Another perfect holiday. Spectacular scenic area. Very good "group" accommodations and fabulous breakfast. Niamh is an excellent host. Have booked again in 2020 for a group retreat. Highly recommend!
Our stay at Abhainn Ri exceeded our expectations. The cottage was roomy and clean. The appliances and supplies are excellent. The sunrise (and moonrise) views are just beautiful. We also enjoyed breakfast in the farmhouse and the opportunity to walk around the farm.
Ash Cottage had the most amazing view and was ideally located to explore the Wicklow hills. Plenty of parking. Bedrooms were spacious and each had an en suite. Recycling was encouraged. Boots provided in all sizes for farm walks
The place to be at home away from your home. Impeccable views with peaceful environment. Owners very helpful in everything you need. Very spacious with all amenities and parking facilities too. The only disadvantage is the wifi Connection.
Would thoroughly recommend staying at Abhainn Ri. Our only regret with our visit was not staying for longer!! Niamh was very friendly and welcoming and made sure my wife's birthday visit was extra special. We stayed in the farmhouse suite which had incredible views and felt very private. The thoughtful touches of calling before our arrival to make it all smooth, homemade scones in the fridge and white robes make this stay worth every penny. The suite was very clean, spacious and modern. Breakfast was delicious; very relaxed with lots of choice and again all homemade with love. The views are amazing and it is worth doing the farm walk and going down to the lake. It is a great location for exploring Wicklow's scenery, shopping in Kildare, or even enot too far to travel to the beach at Bray/Greystones. We are already planning to go back!!
We stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate my birthday. Despite arriving on a grey rainy day, we were struck by the beauty of the place as soon as we pulled into the private gravel driveway. We were greeted by Owen, who was so friendly and welcoming. He showed us to the farmhouse suite, which is annexed to the main farmhouse and has its own private entrance with patio. The room was large and airy, with a separate sitting area and small kitchen. And sitting on the kitchen bench were homemade scones and jam! We were extremely pleased! Abhainn Ri overlooks a lake and has stunning panoramic views. Even though I took photos, they don’t do the place justice - you have to see it with your own eyes to truely appreciate the beauty. Breakfast is served in the main farmhouse and we were warmly greeted by Niamh who explained that there was a help yourself buffet, and a made to order menu. Whilst we’ve sampled many buffet breakfasts, the difference here is that most of it is homemade - the jams, bread, scones and muffins. Oh and the most delicious fruitcake. We will definitely stay here again - a real hidden gem!
The only place to start here is with the views. It's the reason we booked to stay here and they are just stunning. If you want mountains and lakes you won't be disappointed. The location is great for travelling out from Dublin. You will need a car but the roads are decently sized (compared to driving some country roads in the UK) and we got from Dublin Airport to Abhainn Ri in under an hour with no issues. We stayed in the suite which as you can see from the photos is kept immaculate. The bed was really comfy and the shower was decent- the two most important things in any stay. The internet connection is pretty patchy which is great for helping you unplug. I just packed my phone away and enjoyed the outdoors. There are a range of breakfasts on offer with farm produce and they are amazing. I've always enjoyed an Irish breakfast and this was up there as one of the best I've had. We both agreed we are going to plan another trip to Ireland so that we can stay at Abhainn Ri again, and as someone who makes a habit of never visiting the same place twice when travelling, that's high praise.
Was there to celebrate my daughter's birthday and we were completely awed by the location .. the cottage was clean and comfortable .. loved the skylights .. fantastic place we will visit again .to stay and enjoy the location longer..
A classic farmhouse with modern features. This authentic farmhouse has been in the family for generations, and you can see the additions that have made it thoroughly modern and welcoming to the individual traveler(s). The perfect place for a quiet night sleep after a long night of air travel. Breathtaking view of the Wicklow mountains and Kings River. Your gracious hostess delivers a delicious and filling breakfast that prepares you for your day ahead. We will be back.
