A magical stay

We had a magical stay at Malaya Dune. The setting was so zen and the house had such an amazing peaceful energy. We enjoyed morning coffee on the deck listening to the birds and rustling leaves. Our evenings consisted of night swims at the lake, a soak in the hot tub, and/or huddled around the campfire. We also looked forward to (and dreaded) our daily trek over the dune to the lake.The place is in a great location, close to towns, hiking, and beaches.Thanks for sharing this magical spot.

Mixed Review

This is one of the hardest reviews I’ve ever had to write because there were very big positives, but also some really big negatives. First, the positives. This house is beautiful and it sits in a very peaceful, wooded setting. Saskia was responsive to our needs as much as she could be. The house is extremely well stocked and had everything we could ever need for preparing food. There are big windows throughout the house, which really allow you to feel integrated with the beautiful setting. We loved eating outside at the nice long table.Here are our negatives. All of the air conditioning units in the bedrooms were broken. Unfortunately, the days that we rented were extremely hot and temps did not cool down at night. This made sleeping extremely uncomfortable and we were all impacted by poor sleep. Saskia did bring more fans for our 3rd night which helped but it was still very hot! The house has major ant problems. I can tell that the management was trying to do things to address the issue but we were killing or brushing out at least 30 to 40 big black ants every day. The final struggle for us was the beach access. Clearly, this is beyond the management’s ability to change, but I think it should be clear in the literature that you have to climb over a sand dune to get to the beach. It is a major exertion. I had some family members who were unable to make that trek. Finally, the VRBO map does not take you to the correct address so it took us 30 minutes to find the property.

Holland vacation

Great house in the woods, 1/2 mile from public beach on Lake Michigan. Terrific house with nice kitchen and living room with panoramic views of the lovely forest surroundings. Nice decks, outdoor seating and hot tub.

Great family vacation home!

We were all so pleased with Mayala Dunes! The setting is beautiful with a great deck and hot tub. The kitchen is well appointed, everything a cook could need. Lots of room with comfortable decor. We’d certainly recommend it to all!
