We stayed two nights at the Holiday Inn. Our 11:15 arrival didn't cause reception any problems. Reception were very helpful to us during our two night stay. Room was enormous. Excellent bathroom. Everything very clean. Breakfasts were fantastic - probably the best we had whilst in China. Good location. Would return.
This Holiday Inn is not bristling with bars, restuarants and spas but it offers great value at about $50 a night. The buffet including drinks (beer and wine) at 100 RMB was very good. Service was also really good and the free limo to the airport a bonus.
Thanks to the hotel for allowing us early check-in as we arrive from overnight train rides from Beijing. The best thing after a long long train ride, to find the rooms clean, sizey and real comfortable bed. Strategically located, within walking distance to a mall with lots of choice for eateries and karaoke. Though not all will like the taste of the Mongolian food, but it's edible.
A good hotel from the LHG group. Rather dated but clean and extremely comfortable. Sizey rooms, excellent staff and is extremely well located. Breakfast us a bliss with an exception spread. The gym and pool are nice to use during warmer days. Will be my return hotel stay when I get back to Hohhot.
Hohhot is one of those places where no-one speaks a word of English therefore we were pleasantly surprised to find check-in staff fluent in the language. The rooms are nicely sized, with two queen beds they were adequate for our family. The staff generously sent us complimentary moon cakes. Best part about the hotel is its location, right in the heart of the downtown. It's easy to find cabs to get to airport/museum/temples. Restaurants are a'll around, from authentic Mongolian food to 24 hour fast food joints and Starbucks. Definitely recommend you stay here when in Hohhot.
stayed 2 nights, great rooms, great breakfast buffet, good gym, super nice staff, good location ( next to muslim street and many shopping malls), all in all: 5 star worth, I would definitely stay there again..
While there is no doubt the location is excellent, some of the staffs helpful in giving directions to places in the city, we were disappointed with 3 basic things - the air-con, wifi and shower facilities at the hotel. We stayed 3 nights at the hotel and found that the water pressure for shower was poor, the wifi slow - but then I later read that China's internet speed to international websites are indeed very slow - so probably not the hotel's fault. Hohhot when we were there on 1 and 2 August, was sweltering hot but yet the air-con could not be adjusted but stayed fixed at a high of 27 degrees celsius inside room temperature. Very unpleasant and made sleeping hard to achieve. There could be government control on the power consumption in buildings in China but certainly an international hotel chain like Holiday Inn should lobby for this rules to be relaxed for hotel guests.
Good location and the room was big, clean but basic. We were only there overnight before we headed out to the grasslands. We had breakfast down the road at Starbucks. There is also a huge park across the road where you will see line dancing and also dancing with swords and fans.
The hotel is not new, or at least some of the fixtures in my room suggest so. But it is comfortable and centrally located. Breakfast is a bit mediocre for a four star hotel. The staff's English is limited but some of them do their very best to be helpful.
Stayed one night. Room was good size, fairly clean. It was however, very hot. Could not find anyone that understood enough English to get them to understand that. Tried to bring us an extra heater instead of a fan! Breakfast was ok. Typical Chinese with some boiled eggs and pastries for the Americans! Internet was a little slow but it did work well.
