We chose this hotel and paid extra for sky club. When we attended the sky club lounge for afternoon tea we were not greeted by anyone and when a staff member eventually came in the room we were asked for our room number and rudely left sitting at our table not knowing what we could order. We had to ask what food and drinks we could order. My wife got up to help herself to some cookies that were available and was rudely asked for her room number again. We experienced similar service when we attended the lounge for evening drinks. We have never experienced this low level of service when attending a hotel club lounge. The staff were very preoccupied with getting ready for the New Years function and neglected the service. At our request and cost the hotel arranged a car to and from the airport and this service was good. The hotel is well located and easy walking distance to most things.
Visited for a few nights over New Year. Close to all the action via walking, including many of the City’s attractions. Good service, probably more on the expensive side compared to the value for money we got in Hanoi and Hoi An.
Beautiful hotel and reception area. Excellent breakfast, everything as it should be except the quality of towels. I can't imagine why a hotel of this standard would have paper thin towels! (Maybe they were overstretched because it was Christmas?) The bathroom has separate shower and bath. A magnifying mirror wouldn't go amiss. The room had electric sockets to suit all types of plugs which is a bonus. We didn't use the spa but can recommend the rooftop bar especially during happy hour. The cocktails are excellent and the ambiance is relaxed and pleasant, not quite as high as the Bitexco tower but it affords you a fairly good view of the city and river. They supply binoculars too. The downside for me was at check out; I was informed that a face flannel was missing when there was only one in the first place!! Maybe we should check quantity of towels supplied daily? They didn't make a huge fuss when I pointed out that there was only one but it spoiled the overall experience.
We stayed here in Sept 2017. Stayed in the old wing which is beautifully preserved from French colonial time. It was two bed apartment with separate lounge right in front of the pool. Three bathrooms. Fridge. Aircon and Free wifi. Staff v courteous and professional. The deck on top floor has amazing views of the river and city. We used a laundry lady outside the hotel who was economical than the hotel's own laundry. Food was good though again had lot's of take away delivered to us from anywhere we wanted and it was no problem with the hotel. Breakfast was great with huge variety of stuff on the menu to cater for all kinds of palates.
The Grand Hotel is in great location. We have stayed here twice before. Previously we stayed in the old part of the hotel. This is what they are calling the Ancient Wing. This time we staying in the new part of the hotel or the Luxury Wing. We preferred the Ancient Wing as the Luxury Wing seemed to lack the character and ambience of the old part. All still very nice and clean and of a very high standard – just our preference. We did find the beds to be extremely hard and uncomfortable though. The hotel offers a massive buffet breakfast and also has a gym, spa and big swimming pool with a bar. On the roof top is a bar with the best views of the city. Great places to sit and chill. There was also free wifi. The hotel can organise transfers to the airport – just allow plenty of time if travelling during rush hour as the traffic is a nightmare. Early morning only about 25mins but peak time it’s over an hour. The hotel is sort of walking distance to the Market, the Bitexco Financial Tower, shopping centres, the Palace and the War Museum. On the nights we were there the road parallel to the hotel was closed to traffic and just flooded with people. I like the location of the hotel and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would stay there again but probably specifically request to stay in the Ancient Wing and ask for a softer bed!
Lovely grand hotel. With all the little things you expect from a 5* hotel. It's in the middle of everything,. Very easy to get a bus from airport to District 1 at the cost of 16p. Way cheaper than a taxi! Staff all very helpful. Breakfast was a fest in itself. Would recommend.
Spent new years eve in the rooftop bar. We had a great night watching the entertainment and fireworks. We went for the all inclusive rate which included food and drinks. We also staid in a deluxe room 1504. This room overlooked the main street but was very quite. The bedroom was well kept and clean. I will definitely go back again.
One of the well-located hotels in Saigon. This is hardly any distance from anything worth seeing in the old town. The rooms are decent (stayed in the "ancient wing", a suite I guess, with two washrooms), breakfast spread is good but the taste could be better. Some of the lobby boys are not that helpful (i booked uber and one actually misguided me...) Housekeeping is awesome. Other guests are good... Overall great place to stay... if you are getting it for a deal...
Enjoyed our stay at the grand, it’s in a great location and easy to get around. Plenty on restaurants in the area. Pool is small but great after sightseeing. Breakfast is very good and a good selection. Roof top bar is great.... fab views and food is very good. We had an issue of air con not working on the first night which was uncomfortable, but the next morning they couldn’t of been more helpful.... offered us another room with a great view, but our room had been fixed and we stayed in that, but happy with the way they dealt with the problem. Would definatley stay again the next time we are in ho chi Minh.
We started our trip in Vietnam here and we were exhausted on arrival after a long journey - thankfully the bed was very comfy. We were given a room in the ancient wing which was accessed from the courtyard where the pool was. The room itself was quite spacious and the bed great. We had free dragonfruit in the room which was a nice touch. The bathroom had a bath with shower over it and the shower head was very low down and not adjustable which wasn’t ideal for my husband, a 6 foot westerner but we managed. Another odd thing about the bathroom was that we could hear loud music every time we went in there which we think was coming in somehow through the air vent. The noise didn’t carry through to the bedroom though so it didn’t disrupt our sleep. Unfortunately we did also find a cockroach in here. The pool area was lovely and we had an enjoyable afternoon there after an early morning trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels. There were a few loose tiles around the edge of the pool which need to be sorted but the staff were friendly and attentive. The rooftop bar was lovely. It was all decorated for Christmas, there were live singers and the view was fab - lots of boats all lit up on the river. The cocktails were also very nice. Breakfast was plentiful and there were items to suit all palates. The location was excellent in district 1 so walking distance to many places of interest. Overall, it’s not a 5* hotel and it’s definitely in need of some updating. But the location was excellent, service was very good and we really enjoyed the pool and the rooftop bar.
