Nice hotel, wonderfully breakfast, staff very helpful and friendly. Has a roof top terrace for drinks, very nice in the evening. Location good, restaurants and German bar close by, and easy walking distance to the market and historical buildings
I stayed here for 3 nights this week with my husband and parents. First of all this a stunning hotel in an excellent location, lots of bars and restaurants and coffee shops nearby and minutes from walking street. The staff are all friendly and always have a big smile, whether its the porters the reception desk or staff in the restaurants or bar areas. The rooms are very comfortable we were in the older part of the hotel but both rooms were nice, clean and good size bathrooms, yes they are older but they were traditional and very comfortable. The staff in all the restaurants are friendly and very attentive, nothing is too much trouble, the breakfast buffet was excellent, lots of choice and great coffee! The pool bar cafe was great and again the staff very helpful and quick to be of service. We enjoyed the rooftop bar, great views and cocktails and happy hour 1500-1700,a lovely view and place to unwind and watch the world go by. It really was a pleasure staying here for all of us,would totally recommend this hotel.
The hotel is extremely well located running parallel to the walking street and well located for a lot of restaurants and nightlife. We stayed in the old wing overlooking the pool and with views out over the river. Rooms were comfortable although a bit dated. Breakfast was again fine with ample choice but staff attentiveness could be improved. There were a lot of them but it was hard to attract their attention. My only major gripe was a leak in the bathroom that was never properly sorted out despite calls. The maintenance staff didn't speak English but were also not properly briefed by the staff at the front desk whom I had explained the issue to in detail. They simply mopped up the water and went away without fixing the problem.
The location is good. The room is extremely dark. Lots of staff in breakfast room, although, very little service. Had to ask for coffee and more toast on several occasions. For a hotel this size there should be at least two toasters available for use. They need an active management who need to ensure that customer service is most important. I think much better value is available elsewhere. Tour desk try their best to ignore you. Also, pool very busy, and no chairs available. The view from roof top cafe is nice and was very enjoyable.
Lovely connection with the old Saigon. The older part of the hotel only has three floors with a cool wrap around internal walkway looking over the pool. No great views out of the room. Decor on the room is older style but clean and functional. Lots of marble in the bathroom. If looking for something a little different than traditional Hotels then this is a thumbs up. Good location for walking to restaurants bars and the main sites in District 1. Staff very friendly.
Excellent location. Staff is friendly and the room size is good as are the amenities are good. It has a great rooftop bar with a live band and great views of the river. Lots of nice cafes & restaurants within walking distance. I will definately stay here again.
ARRIVAL: Warm welcome at reception and rapid check-in. Bell boys and lobby staff very helpful ROOM: We were allocated 1104, Superior de luxe room: in need of renovation but functional. Clean but a musty smell lingered on.....Good sized room with ample storage, comfortable bed, very good bathroom facilities and a powerful shower head. Good quality toiletries. Views not much to write about - overseen by towering buildings.. Complimentary tropical fruit plate appreciated. Good free wi fi connection. The hotel directory is comprehensive and it was interesting to note their green policy and on staff training. However, we were unable to sleep on the first night as there was drilling in the street from 1.00am to 6.00a.m. (preparations for the New Year!). This was brought to the attention of reception staff and an officious young lady informed us there were no other rooms available, Her male colleague, however, offered us room 1118. Many thanks to him. This room faced the river but there was building work across the road till 11.00pm and the street drilling (now distant) continued through the night. I guess this was beyond the control of the hotel. During our time of visit in January/February there was extensive building work being undertaken in all parts of HCMC. MEALS: Room service was efficient and the food appetising. It was a pleasure to have breakfast at the hotel. Very comfortable dining room. Excellent range of food, both international and local (very fresh and delicious). Service with a smile and extremely helpful staff who went the extra mile. Our thanks to all staff who made our start of the day so pleasant. The Grand cafe restaurant on the 20th floor is a great venue for views of Saigon, cocktails, music and good food (see separate review) FACILITIES: Many on offer but our daily programme of visits did not allow us on this occasion to sample them. Laundry service was good but a tad expensive. LOCATION: The Grand Saigon gets top marks for its location - close to the riverside as well as many of the sights of the city. Once the building works in the vicinity are complete, walking will be much more pleasurable......
The hotel and near the hotel is very good. The location is very quiet. The staff is excellent. The breakfast is very copious. The swimmingpool is very clean. This is an excellence hotel. Everything is very good.
We were guest in the hotel with 26 people for 6 nights. Our sister company is very prestigious in tourism business especially hotel and restaurand classification. I am sure Hotel staff know very well this company and will remember our group. The hotel is usually ok but their 2 of front desk staff made a big mistake. Their names were Ruby and Christina. I asked only one hour late check out at 13.00 instead of 12.00. Because I was going to shopping so I was thinking to take shower and change my clothes. Although I tried to convince them politely they didn't accept my request. The reason why if they accept any other customer would ask the same. How professional!!!. In this thought non of customer request should not be accepted. I travel a lot in many countries and this was the first time I came accross this behaviour. Moreover this approach changed my thought about the hotel and this is the only thing which I will remember...
We spent 3 days in Saigon before going to visit our son, who lives in Da Nang. I am glad I booked this hotel and glad we chose to stay in the 'Ancient' side rather than the luxury side, which also contains a casino. I have to say, we wouldn't have known there was a casino there at all had we not read about it when making our booking. The location was great and we had a nice quiet room, which was important in a city of 9.6 million people and what? Thirteen or fourteen million motor bikes? We enjoyed the rooftop bar very much and would recommend this grand old hotel to others.
