There are few quality choices when travelling north in New Caledonia. This is a little gem. The renovated bungalows are a delight - modern and clean with a lovely outlook to the ocean. It is possible to have a bungalow with your own small private plunge pool. Wifi is available even in the room. Enjoy the bar and evening entertainment ahead a lovely buffet.
My bungalow was in a very good condition, and the bathroom was even better with a big walk-in shower. However, the bungalow was not as clean as one would expected for such a hotel, as there was dust on the furniture inside the room and the lounge-chairs at the private terrace not been cleaned for a long time (or so it seemed). Wifi internet connection was available only at the common areas, notably only at the restaurant. The evening buffet was very good, but when I went for breakfast on Sunday morning at 09.00 (breakfast was open until 09.00) there was almost nothing available apart from some bread and fruit - no cheese, no viennoiserie, no ham. The fact that the hotel was fully booked is not an excuse for not having enough breakfast for all clients, taking into account the high price of the breakfast. On the plus side, there is a horse stable at the hotel offering excursions at the nearby area, as well as a tennis course. Other activities such as canoe can be organised by the hotel; however it is not possible to swim at the beach in front of the hotel due to the very sharp coral reefs.
This hotel offers good fresh rooms. Clean and simple decor. Decent beds. Very clean and safe. The common grounds are good but a bit run down. Having said that, it's perfect for families who just want to let their kids have a fun and simple holiday. There's lots for kids to do, tennis, mini golf, swimming, darts, etc. The buffet was probably one of the better ones we've had since being in New Caledonia. Good range, freshly cooked meats. Not amazing, but decent. Travelling to the North is worth your while. Beautiful scenery. Absolutely stunning.
We stay in this hotel 4 nights. Room was very nice, clean and big. Our terrace was very close to the beach so it was easy to go to morning swim and snorkeling. Beach is very good if you like to snorkling! Breakfast and dinner was ok.
While the resort itself appears to be showing its age, the bungalows appear to have been recently renovated - modern, clean and comfortable. The resort's evening buffet had a good variety of foods and is good value. Breakfast buffet also a good selection. A somewhat disconcerting addition to the dining atmosphere are the cats and dogs that wander near the tables but they don't seem to cause trouble. A major weakness is Reception. It is understaffed and was extremely slow for both check-out and check-in. While not unfriendly, staff seem somewhat disinterested and there is a hint of inefficiency. The resort provides a good base to explore the beautiful region of Hienghene and the coastline with its waterfalls across the Ouaieme River on the vehicular ferry.
Stopped by the hotel for lunch without any expectations. Told that it was a buffet. Typical spread, with a live cooking station for meat and chicken. Overall a decent and filling meal but no real comparison for the area. Nothing special and very family/resort but nothing bad either. Worth a stop if you're hungry from the long drive over from Noumea.
We booked this hotel because we had planned to dive with a diving school located nearby. Unfortunately, due to some communication issues we were not able to contact the school before our arrival to Hienghene, and were not able to dive with them, as they were fully booked for the next days. We asked the hotel if we could change our booking, to try to make it to Poindimie and dive there, which they immediately accepted. Our bungalow was big, clean and recently renovated. All amenities, including a kettle and small fridge, were provided. The hotels grounds are well tended. There is an outdoor swimming pool and a ping pong table available for guests. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful.
Nice stay for a few days to explore the Hienghene area which there is lots of cool things, do a bit of research! Rooms were great, big, clean & quite but no wifi as you could only get that in the bar/reception area weird cos throughout the property it would connect to routers on the poles but no net except by the tennis court so if you had a room down there you'd get it. There was lots of activities on site they need a bit of an upgrade like the mini putt & golf range as it looks like it hasn't been touch since it was club med. Food was buffet which there was lots of different choices little expensive but not really other options in this area. Babou Côté Océan just down the road has day trips to islands & diving. Staff were friendly & helpful.
Stayed here for a week diving at Poindimie with Tieti Dive and Babou Cote Ocean in Hienghene. Staff were lovely and friendly, very patient as I mangled the French language. The room was super and I appreciated the fold down seat in the shower. I had an ocean view and the sound of the waves with lovely dawns. Food was buffet style with a good range, well presented and changed daily. Part of the buffet was a BBQ from which I had tuna, marlin, plus cutlets of venison, pork, lamb.
For the ones who need the comfort of a great bed and bungalow right on the beach near hiengen, this is where to stay. Minutes away from "la Poule" and the "billet de 500" with lovely walks around, and activities you could easily stay there for more than a week! The breakfast is always good. However, the diner buffet can be a bit average. Great for families, horse riders and divers who want modern comfort while on the magical northern east coast of New-Caledonia.
