Some drunken idiot stood at the bar berating staff that 'his friends had all finished their food and mine hasn't arrived'... Obviously he was too drunk/stupid to realise earlier and mention there may have been a problem with his order and could they sort it out. The staff dealt with him impeccably-great job. I would have knocked him out.
We stayed at this hotel having bought a Warners Studio Tour and afternoon tea package to celebrate our 35th Wedding Anniversary. The tea was ok but not particularly inspired - 3 out of 5 of our cakes were mousse based, messy to eat on a hot day and all very samey. For some inexplicable reason the scones were toasted. The sandwiches were cheese, egg ham and tuna, and a bit dry. We stayed for dinner and the menu was very limited and did not include steak. We were not offered a wine list. Several of the tables were wobbly. The room was ok but no air con so very stuffy. Breakfast involved a ten minute wait to be seated because no-one was greeting diners, the mushrooms, bacon and fried egg were lukewarm only the sausage and tomatoes were hot. My husband hates a scene so did not want me to complain when I really wanted to. The receptionist was new and gave incorrect information to other guests about pool opening times. The phone was ringing but she explained she was not answering the phone as she did not yet know what to say. It took ten minutes for anyone to locate extra tea/coffee/milk for our room as we had been left 2 of each for a 2pm-11am the next day stay. We would not go back.
I booked into a room for a wedding from Friday May 26th to Sunday May 28th, booking in at reception was very slow. When I went to my room it was clean and tidy, upon further inspection when I drew the curtains the one on the left was 2 inches shorter than the one on the right. On the Saturday night, I left a bag of ice packs at reception to keep thing cool on our return journey, on Sunday morning I spoke to the gentleman on the breakfast stand who could not find them, the lady on reception also looked but could not find them.
I booked this hotel for one of our employees only last night, but had to cancel due to emergency today. they clearly had lots of empty rooms, but still insisted on charging the full value of the first night booking despite our company being a faithful customer. I think sometimes a little flexibility goes a long way, as I won't be booking them any more.
This hotel is located outside Watford just at the end of little bushy lane. Theres nothing much around it except mcdonalds across the road. The rooms are quite small but the beds are comfortable and the staff is pleasant. The leisure facilities are occupied by the locals, and membership holders, so it could get crowded unless you visit facilities in the morning. The back garden is nicely decorated with garden furniture and it is enjoyable place to rest and have a drink or a meal. I would recommend this place for a short break or if you are making a stop to rest.
We spent two nights at the hotel, making use of the pool, sauna and steam toom. Not far from the Chilterns; Tring was particularly nice and had an amazing Ntural History Museum and wildflower meadows. We had inclusive breakfast / dinner which worked out very reasonably and the food was delicious too!! The staff were very warm and welcoming and although the facilities are rather tired we thoroughly enjoyed the experience!!
First room we was in was large but the temperature of the room was like the surface of the sun so had to move rooms. Next room was allot smaller and most of it was damaged. Staff rude and not helpful.
The room was as you would expect Desk and ample power Nice staff Great pool to take a swim Clean and tidy One downside - no air conditioning in the room and it was hot but will only be an issue a few months of the year Great location for a very adequate business hotel for the night
We booked this hotel for 2 nights as we were visiting The Harry Potter Studio's, great location for the Studio as it was only 10 minutes in a taxi (**always book your taxi half an hour before you leave as they are always late), If yo are looking for stuff to do around the hotel then dont expect much as the only thing next to it is McDonalds. The Hotel Reception and Restaurant is lovely and bright, then you head downstairs to the bar, it feels like you are in a basement and lacks atmosphere, the food was lovely but i just couldn't relax. The Bedroom we had was a large room but very very tired and old fashioned it is definitely in need of makeover. We went to the Pool to relax before we set off to Harry Potter but as we approached the changing rooms we could hear loud music - apparently they have water aerobics on so the pool was busy and noisy, as for the changing rooms i tried 4 lockers and not 1 worked, a lady who had i presume was a member told me to never mind trying them as they haven't worked for months and just to leave my belongings in a unlocked locker - i wasn't comfortable with this so i went back to my room and changed in there and left all my belongings there. All in All it could be a fantastic hotel but it is in dire need of a makeover. I wouldn't book again for a 2 day break but if it was for a quick stopover then i might consider it.
Be aware that when you give a card for authorization they will earmark£100 on your account and if like us you pay on another card you will not be able to get it back we are still waiting been told 4 to 5 days this is not exceptable as you are not told this and no receipt is given DISGUSTING
