I stayed at this hotel for one night. The bathroom needs updating and the bath in need of a good clean. It was very mouldy around the bath as per the enclosed photo. The room was shabby and also in need or either a good clean or ungrading. Breakfast was nice and the staff friendly. The hotel is expensive for what you get and I would not return. I heard a lot of noise from outside the room as well.
Beales Hotel Hatfield is a very modern, contemporary hotel, oozing style, taste and an abundance of helpful staff. From the moment my wife and I checked in, to the moment we left, we were made to feel at home, nothing was too much trouble. The 53 guest bedrooms are all individually designed and have everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The kingsize bed, with its Egyptian cotton duvet was most comfortable. In all the rooms, and throughout the hotel, are a number of pieces of art work created by local art students. There is a cosy bar area, complete with a baby grand piano, and a wonderful restaurant, serving excellent food. We only had one night here but I would definitely consider returning if I am ever in the area again.
Just returned from a reunion held at Beales, and am so glad that I also chose to stay there. The highlight was definitely the bed, which was possibly the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The little touches in the room such as the little packet of macarons did make it even more special. There were a couple of small things that just let the hotel down - I did find that the shower wasn't particularly powerful (friends in different rooms found they had the same issue), and the only thing that let the fantastic breakfast down was maybe a slight lack of service - the staff were very pleasant but it's always nice to have the system explained (even though a buffet is fairly self explanatory) - I just feel rude going to help myself without permission! Overall though a lovely stay and I would definitely return if I had another event in the area.
I stay 3 nights had dinner there one evening and can say a very well serviced hotel with professional and attentive staff. The management should congratulated for how it is managed. The decor was tastefully furnished though subjectively, the dining area would better with a lighter decor given that there are no windows except slong the front corridor. The room, I was given number 1, also a disable room, but it could be that all rooms are the same? If not then at reception should of advised the guest if a disable room would OK. For me it was not a problem, but for others it could be. The room was well laid out with most importantly a comfortable bed. I had 3 nights of uninterrupted sleep reflecting bed comfort and room ambience. The reason sized bathroom being a disabled room was a wet room. Both sink and toilet were positioned in a much lower height than standard, making their use a little awkward. But overall, both bedroom and bathroom was let down by Maintenance issues such as: worn backrest on the lounge chair; the bathroom door could close shut due to the door frame either being distorted or humidity ingress blocking closure; ceiling damaged over a long period of time probably due to humidity from a wet room design indicating insufficient exhaust and aeration when the room is in use i.e. ventilation. Therefore, I could only give 3 stars, but J would be happy to stay at Beale again.
We stayed for a weekend in July as we had a family wedding and it saved us going up and down the motorway. We stayed on a half board basis We had room 49, which faces towards the back car park. it was very comfortable and had a nice en suite. The restaurant has a limited evening menu which is included in the DBB rate, and a small a la carte menu. All the food we ordered was well cooked and well presented, service was slow especially on Saturday night due to the lack of staff.Breakfast was very good and set us up for the day, and I had a proper whole grilled kipper which was lovely and the next morning a bowl of freshly made porridge. On the Friday night our daughter and son in law joined us for dinner, they enjoyed their meal. All that said we will return if we need to be in the area
Nice modern hotel close to amenities, don't drive too fast or you will miss the entrance like we did. Once we did get in the girl at reception was very friendly and welcoming. We had a room on the first floor which was very light with large widows (25) comfortable bed with very good quality linen. Breakfast the next morning was outstanding with friendly service and very god quality food. We did not dine as we went to st Albans to see some friends which a short taxi ride away, however the menu looked delicious perhaps next time.Check out was quick and easy.
Location is good: Hotel is conveniently located near a shopping mall and the bus line which can take you to the train station and directly to London. Also located near eateries and a discount market. Service is good: Front desk allowed us to check in 2 hours early. After a long international flight, this very much appreciated. Meal service for breakfast was very professional with high attention to detail. Dinner service seemed a bit nervous and flustered but not too bad. Restaurant food good: Breakfast is typical British, dinner was wonderful! Room was terrible: possibly due to early check in, got disabled room #16. Heavy smell of mildew permeated the room. TV remote didn't allow for proper use and couldn't get most channels. At least the windows opened to air out the room and their was air conditioning but didn't use that much since the unit seemed like one of the sources of mildew smell along with carpets near windows. Hotel management- I suggest you consider a remodel with check of moisture damage & repairs on this ground floor room.
We choose this hotel as it is close to Hatfield house where the battle of the proms is every year. Beales is a modern hotel with generous rooms fitted with air conditioning, coffee tea making facilities a nice clean bathroom. The reception was very helpful in arranging transport to the venue. Breakfast the next morning was lovely everything was on a buffet well cooked and served by very pleasant waiters. We will be coming back next year.
This is a modern hotel next to the shopping center. The hotel looks a little like an office from the outside and has some interesting modern art inside. The positives first, friendly service, free WiFi, decent breakfast, free car parking and AirCon. The reason why I didn't rate this hotel any higher is that the rooms have low ceilings and are quite small, the remote control for the TV did not work (assuming battery) but the biggest problem was that on arrival and departure, the hotel corridors where full of used towels holding the fire doors open, all of the laundry rooms where wide open and in a state. I realise that the hotel must be cleaned but have never experienced it so extreme.
I cannot comment about the hotel rooms as we did not stay here, however we attended a function and all I can say is take a very large bank card with you as the drinks are horrendously priced! I had a large white wine spritzer with soda water and it cost me £13:95!!!!! Just a glass !!!!
