I have stayed here twice before. Everything was fine. I stay because it is close to BWU & JMU, and has a pool & Hot Tub. The Tub was hot & working. The pool was also about 80F and the room was warm. Outside was about 40's. Breakfast started at 0630, which was great as we had to be at JMU around 7am. They had pre-made cheese omelets and all the other things that comp. breakfasts have. Rooms were warm which was good, everything fine, clean and in order, and worked. Vending was more than adequate, candy bars $1.00 & sodas $1.25 - so not as expensive as most hotels, and the selections were excellent. They also have washer & dryer which I did not use this time. Free USA Today's. Parking fine. The Truck stop didn't bother me, nor were there rowdy kids. I have stayed in some of the finest places in Europe, E. Block, NYC, CA, Hawaii, Guam, P. Suites, etc.. 5 star places $$$ + a night with Casino's. If I can stay here I think most people can. Some people complain about everything when they review. They probably don't tip the cleaning people too. Been there done that - they work hard. Yes people can have a bad experience, but never had one at the Holiday Inn Express. It is just a basic decent Hotel. Yes, I felt safe, but do in most of Virginia as it is an OC & CWP state (not a nanny state). Up the road is the large indoor pool park and ski resort. You are around mountains here, many caverns, Civil War sites & Historical places not to far. VMI & town are also cool.

It was a very clean and friendly hotel. The staff was excellent and incredibly helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Harrisonburg.

The hotel looks nice, the lobby is nice, the breakfast is nice and the employees are nice. But my room (111) was pretty clammy. I thought it was just me, but when I was awakened by the sound of water dripping from the shower in the room above mine into the closet nook, I reconsidered. There was a base level of humidity in the room either caused by the puddle under where the leak is that I didn't notice before, or an inadequate air conditioning unit, or both. Bottom line is in the morning it was excessively humid in there and as I examined the rusty hinges on the bathroom door and peeling paint on the bathroom ceiling I began to understand that it wasn't just me: it's a real problem.

Beds seemed smaller than queen sized, but overall comfortable room. Great breakfast for the family.

This Holiday Inn Express meets the needs of the traveler. However, if you look closely, there are aspects that are tired and could use a little upkeep attention. Overall, it is comfortable and the breakfast is much appreciated and convenient.

This was our first time staying at this hotel, and I was pleasantly surprised by how nice a hotel it is for the room rate. The front desk staff was always friendly and courteous, the rooms were clean and quiet, and the continental breakfast was generous. We would definitely stay here again.

I was disappointed to smell cigarettes on the first floor. I thought all hotels are non-smoking hotels. Also, I attempted breakfast at 9:50am, however, everything was already put away. If the hours are until 10am, then the food should remain until 10am.

Only 1 night but a comfortable stay. Staff were accommodating.

We had a great stay at this hotel. We were only there one night, but the location was great and the staff was fantastic. I will definitely stay there again the next time I am up for an event at JMU.

We were very favorabley impressed by the Hotel. Everything was exceptionally clean and fresh. Staff were very courteous and helpful. Room was very comfortable. will stay here again.

Room was perfect, clean, breakfast great, wife left her coat, they sent it back, very friendly. On the outskirts of town near truck stop, but still was quie. Motel run very well.

Very nice place. Very clean. Easy to get to from rout 81

Good, Nothing to complain. Too much noise from jacuzzi above.

Our family likes going out for short trips so the kids can have a good breakfast in the hotel and swim in the pool. All of us, including my wife who is a cleaning nut, enjoyed this place a lot.

this is the third time we have used this spot when traveling from GA. to PA. the rooms are clean and up to date. Free breakfast has always been good. Wide flat screen TV and very friendly staff. We will use them again

It was a short stay but everything was clean and nice. Would definitely stay there again

Very Clean Hotel with Friendly Staff

I was excited to make it a 'mini vacation' for the evening, since I'd have to be traveling for work anyway. I selected this hotel because of the great photos of their pool/jacuzzi facility, as well as the quality of the room. Upon arrival, I wasn't greeted with a very friendly front desk gentleman. I then found out the pool area was closed due to "chemical imbalance." Their suggestion was that I use their sister hotel next door, which also had maintenance problems and a freezing cold jacuzzi. The room itself had a decent design to it, but I couldn't use the microwave because it wasn't plugged in and there were no available outlets. I also had a shower that sprayed in every direction but AT me...and the bathrooms had poor lighting with no fan. The bright spot, however, is that the manager made accommodations at breakfast for my food allergies. He was very friendly. Overall, it was a decent-ish hotel if it were for a lower price. I believe I just expected more than I received.

My husband and I stayed in a king jacuzzi suite. it was very nice. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We mainly were visiting for skyline drive. This hotel is about 30 miles from one of the entrances to skyline drive. The breakfast was good. It was a very nice stay and we would stay here again.

Visiting relatives in town. Hotel was very clean, great free breakfast. Staff very nice. Only downfall was bed was too soft.
