Here it's à good adress. Crew disponible, kind and smiling. Room very confortable, mat soft and all confort To 3☆ standard. Mini bar, large bathroom. Just need USB plug. Food choice of breakfast buffet, juive, fruits, hot dish in Viêt way, egg station, The only bad point here is the smoke in restroom. No ventilation so you have all smoke of kitchen on the atmosphère and that it's not very attractive.
The room was very comfortable. Not huge, but very cozy. Clean from top to bottom. Hotel staff is excellent and jump thru hoops to make you happy. Great breakfast too. I recommend this hotel for solo travelers and couples.
If your after location this is it. Great room rate, nice rooms and close to the lake and all that the old quarter has to offer. The rooms are mighty fine for the price. They are well decked out and comfortable. Typical small foot print so you don’t get a window unless you fork out for a balcony suite. Good wifi; some times are stronger than others. The girls at reception are very attentive and sweet! Oh and breakfast is a pleasant surprise. Lots of variety and good quality food. Beats the Thailand breakfasts hands down.
Great old quarter location within easy reach of the lake, shops and restaurants. Received very welcomed fruit drink on arrival. Received the twin beds requested. Room was very clean and well presented. Staff were friendly and helpful. Easy to change currency into duong.
Great location in the Old Quarter, only a hundred metres or so from Hoan Keim Lake. Easy walking distance to lots of things worth seeing, including the water puppet theatre and markets. The hotel itself is not the Savoy, and I wouldn't expect it. However it is clean, the bed is comfortable and the plumbing works! Any shortcomings are easily overlooked when you experience the friendliness of the people who work here.
Booked the suite with a bathtub with balcony and high floor, photo's looked great. We requested a high floor, bath tub and an actual view of the lake. They emailed us with sorry we don't have this room with a view of the lake but we can give you the suite with the bath tub and balcony, which we was happy with. HOWEVER on arrival they told us the room they said we can have they give to someone else and only have a room on the 8th floor without a bath tub but has a balcony, offered to show us. When we looked at the room, it was smaller than what we asked, no balcony only a sliding door with a railing to look out. The decor is not the same as the photo's aswell. So we went back down and told them we are not happy with it. They said we don't know what else to do, other than a refund. At this point I have had enough, they had wasted almost an 1hr already so I agreed to a refund BUT! Now they say you have to cancel. Agoda who we booked with states no refund. As I told them I am not cancelling and losing my payment because of you bad management. After 10-15 minutes we get nowhere. Her manager is out the country. So I call agoda explain the problem, they call the hotel and come back with only 10% discount which is totally unacceptable and ask what I want. Now I say a full refund don't want to stay in this hotel at all. They say ok let me call you back. After 10 minutes they get back to me and say a full refund will come back to you in 7-15 days 🤔 funny the money it takes 2 minutes to go out. Having said all this I am kind of happy with the result but lost 2 hours in total got annoyed and had to deal with this mess in my little freetime that we should be enjoying also wasted what could have been a great weekend.
We chose this hotel since it is in a good position but we were given a room on a low floor. Nice room but the view from the window was a brick wall. There was also an invasion of tiny insects in 3 places which was cleaned when reported but.... . Breakfast buffet average.
A very comfortable base to stay while exploring the magnificent city of Hanoi and surrounding locations. The staff are wonderful and room was spotless. Just a couple blocks from the Hoan Kiem lake and all the great attractions associated with this exotic land.
We stayed here as part of a tour. We stayed one night before going to Ha Long Bay. Firstly, the bellhops were always on their phones and did not help us with anything. A young receptionist, who seemed nice, checked us in. We asked her about locations to visit, such as the market and places to get food. For helping us, we have her 100k dong. She made a comment saying that this was a lot of money. At first, we thought she was being friendly, but we knew that she was being sarcastic later on. When we returned from Ha Long, the same receptionist checked us in again. The room that she gave us was horrible. The room smelled like mold and it made me cough the whole time I was there. The refrigerator did not work. The wifi would not turn on. The shower almost flooded the restroom floor even when we made sure the door was closed; we had to put both of our bath towels and they still didn’t fully soak up the water. When we went downstairs to ask about the wifi and the refrigerator, they said there’s nothing they could do because it was late. The male manager and pregnant receptionist were nice enough to hold some of our food in the downstairs fridge overnight. Stay away, people. The only redeeming quality about this place is the location to the old town and night market, but there are dozens of nearby hotels that look nicer and friendlier.
Gondola Hotel is average...at best. From the indifference of the reception and doorman to the error on our bill where the deposit was listed as “0” when in fact it was $50., we have come away with a fairly negative opinion of the hotel overall. (How it receives a “9”rating on Booking.com is beyond me) The room was reasonable, but certainly no more than that, but the hallway carpet and walls were in deplorable condition. The best aspect of this hotel is the location; however look closely as there are numerous other hotels on the same street. We have always enjoyed staying in Hanoi because of the great service the hotels have to offer. Unfortunately, this was not one of those.
