In terms of service, we booked the Deluxe room for two nights from a hotel booking platform. We arrived at the hotel in the afternoon. When we booked the hotel room, we stated in the booking form that we wanted the room to be a non-smoking room. However the staff told us that they do not have any available non-smoking rooms as they did not know we requested one. The supervisor on duty was courteous in offering us to check two different rooms on the smoking floors to decide which room we were more comfortable with. She assured us that the hotel will shift us to a non-smoking room if we wanted to, once it is available the following day. The following day we insisted on shifting to a non-smoking room as there were smoke smell on the furniture. They kindly facilitated the transfer of the room as promised. In terms of the room, the size of the room was spacious and with lots of space to move around. The room was clean and comfortable. In terms of the location, the hotel is located within walking distance (around 5 - 10 minutes) to the West Lake and also the Metro station. There were convenience stores on the next block and lots of local fast food restaurants, bakery and drinks shop two blocks away. Would recommend this hotel for its good service, spacious room and good location.
The hotel is located about 4 blocks from the subway station and 6 blocks to the West Lake. The area is relatively convenient. It takes roughly 10 minutes to talk to the West Lake; it doesn't sound too far but it can be bad during the summer when it's hot and humid. Many high end shopping and restaurants towards the West Lake direction, and behind the hotel, there is an area with many restaurants and a night market. The hotel looks aged from outside. Spacious lobby area with strong air conditioning (possibly the coolest area in the hotel) but a little bit dark. I reserved a family room for 3, which is only on the third floor. The first room I got was a good size, one double bed, one single bed, and a sofa area with a regular sized bathroom; however, the room is insanely warm and there was no way to cool it down. I had the thermometer all the way set to 16 degree Celsius but still feels like a sauna. I called front desk and housekeeping and the answer I got was they just turned on the master switch for AC in this room and it should cool down momentarily. It didn't cool down after an hour and we found out there is a puddle of water on the bathroom floor possibly leaking from the sink. We spoke to a supervisor and was given a new room right next door. The new room looked roughly the same as the first room but had a better layout and a much greater bathroom. It still didn't cool down as much as I like but it was bearable. I felt like the thermometer in the room is more of a decoration which doesn't actually work, and temperature is all centrally controlled by the hotel. I actually read reviews about this hotel with heat problem before I booked but I thought it wouldn't be this bad. It was hot and humid in Hangzhou, and I should have trusted the reviews I read. The rooms were recently decorated so they had somewhat an updated look. There were few bottles of water provided everyday and a plate of fruits was offered each night. Many non-essential items in the room are for sale, so double check before you use something, there will be a price sticker on if it's not for free. Breakfast was on the top floor with a good view of the city and West Lake; this hotel is one of the higher buildings in Hangzhou. Breakfast was okay/mediocre with items from both Chinese style and Western style. My family members who enjoyed congee and Chinese style breakfast like the breakfast buffet, but not as many selections on the Western side. It's worth to mention that the restaurant is again very hot. I break a sweat every morning just eating breakfast before I even left the hotel for any tours. Service is the hotel was pretty good. We were given a new room as mentioned earlier without much effort, cleaning staff was helpful, and doorman was helpful. On the day of our departure we were waiting for the free self service laundry cycle to finish at around checkout time. The hotel was nice enough to allowed late checkout without charging us. Everyone was approachable and more than willing to help. Overall a decent hotel with very affordable price, but the heat and temperature control in the hotel (except lobby) was a big issue for me. Not sure if this is specific to this hotel or all hotels in Hangzhou have similar problem.
Good room, excellent location,20minutes walk to west lake, 5minutes walk to wushan night market behind the hotel ,best service, had a memorable 2 night stay, breakfast also satisfaying, keep up good work!
We had 2 family rooms on the 12th floor. The rooms were very clean and spacious with very comfortable beds. They even provided child-sized bedroom slippers for kids. We also enjoyed a complimentary fruit platter every day. Breakfast was on the 19th floor where we had a fantastic view of the famous West Lake. The breakfast had a good selection of international & chinese dishes. Waitresses were very helpful & courteous. The front desk staff were courteous and ever willing to help. My mum had mobility issues so we had to go everywhere by taxi, and the staff were really helpful in calling and arranging transport for us. Location was excellent. Just a short walking distance to the West Lake and lively shopping area. Lots of cheap eats nearby. Every night, there is a night market just behind the hotel, but the goods were slightly pricier than elsewhere. The spa and massage centre next to the hotel was pretty good and reasonable too. If you need to buy train tickets, there is a sales counter just 3 mins walk from the hotel. Overall, this hotel was really nice and value for money. I would recommend everyone to give it a try.
Great hotel wonderful room. Only down side was a room down the corridor left the door open while smoking. Staff were wonderful. Breakfast fantastic along with the wait staff' Would highly recommend. We were able to walk to west lake and the metro so was a great location
Excellent location, extremely helpful staff, most of whom had some English, comfortable bed, spacious room, clean and quiet room - good value for money. Any add ons are expensive though - laundry is ridiculously expensive and had only one breakfast at AU$15 a head. Quite a good range but not worth the money. So many things in the bathroom that you can buy as little extra's if you want. Never seen a hotel with so many items in the room that are for sale (look for the tiny sticker). Would really put the price up if you took advantage of all the extras. Only complaint, we tried emailing on 4 occasions to query check in time as our flight was rescheduled, but in the end we had to call to confirm. Once we had called we suddenly received responses to our earlier queries. Internet was hit and miss.
This property at its price point is simply amazing !! Very focussed on guest service, specially International guests it offers everything a business traveller would ask for...and more. Located in the prime business district, it has food joints spread all over, as well as great connectivity to bus, taxi etc. Rooms are very good, and mostly self serviced - if you want more cleaning you pay !! which is pretty awesome..
Im too lazy to write reviews and never do but im taking a real effort here as I paid good money b/c the review made the hotel seem it was a a true 4 star with good service and it was like a 2 star. we first checked into our room and noticed that the carpet was old and stains all over it.The AC also did not work and I had to get them to change my room at 12am. they called back and said they had now opened their ACs in the hotel and the room should now get cooler...well it didnt. They actually admitted that the AC was not being turned on the whole hotel at its full potential and now they were doing it.I guess when people complain its too hot they turn on the AC? On top of that they front desk allows people to smoke in the lobby and the room they moved me too which was suppose to be a non-smoking room had other people in the rooms smoking which causeD smoke to come into our room. lastly, we ran out of toilet paper and i called the front desk. The girl told me to hold on and i waited for about 5 minutes when I noticed her silently breathing on the phone so I said "hello". She then replied, "no English" and that was the end of that. This is not the poor girl's fault of course but rather mgmt at least having someone that can communicate english as their are many international folks staying here. what would happen if the hotel was on fire and there was an emergency? lastly, i was approached by a prostitute in the lobby of my floor asking if i wanted a 'massage". Mgmt needs to really listen to complaints and do a major overhaul in staff and service.
We stayed at this hotel for two weeks. We had two deluxe rooms, one double and one twin and both were excellent. Each were spacious (although the twin was bigger than the double), had air conditioning, fly screens and refrigerator, tea and coffee making facilities. Beds were clean and comfortable.Lots of little extra touches in the rooms which made it feel quite luxurious. Maids did an excellent job every day. Reception staff spoke very limited English but were pleasant and polite and did their best to accommodate. They even realised it was my sons birthday on the day of check in and delivered a cake, plates forks, candles and a certificate to his room - a lovely touch, I thought. We were visiting my daughter who is at university studying Chinese and they allowed an extra bed in her siblings room for a minimal fee so that she could stay over with us on certain nights when she wasn't in uni.We booked room only but on occasion had breakfast in the 19th floor restaurant with panoramic views of the lake and city. It caters for both Chinese and Western cuisine and was self service and substantial. There was also another restaurant on the second floor serving Chinese cuisine and a coffee lounge by reception on the ground floor. The hotel itself is in a good location. There was a small supermarket directly across the road from the hotel. Turn left outside the hotel and walk 200 metres, there is a metro station on the opposite side of the road and a huge shopping centre on the same side as the hotel. Bus stop directly outside the hotel door and it is around 8 minutes walk on the flat to the beautiful West Lake.Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and couldn't fault it in any way. It exceeded my expectations.
We only spent one night in Huachen International, but glad we were able to come to Hangzhou for that one day and picked this hotel. We just needed to spend one night and go to West Lake for a morning stroll before heading to our next destination. So we were looking for a hotel that is within walking distance to West Lake. Huachen was exactly what we were looking for. The hotel is a short walk from the subway (we came in via bullet train and took the subway). And then next morning, a short stroll to visit West Lake before we checked out. The only minor complain we had was the bed was very hard. It's not uncommon to have a hard bed in China hotels, but we wish there was a way to select a softer bed. Our 24 day trip in China, this was one the hardest bed we slept on. But truly, Huachen was great value for its location, service, and amenities.
