I stayed for one evening in the Weka Room. The lodge is located maybe a 5 minute drive from the main highway, so you are just surrounded by countryside. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Julie, one of the owners, who was very polite and friendly and gave us a small tour of the place upon our arrival. The rooms were clean, the bathroom was well appointed with the necessary toiletries, and the wifi was good (and no restrictions on number of devices like the other hotels we stayed at). There is a outdoor sitting area next to our room's entrance which would be a lovely place to just sit and relax and enjoy the birdsong. The breakfast Julie cooked was also really delicious! I would recommend this place for people who are looking for a relaxing, idyllic stay. I would have loved to stay longer but we were in a rush to get to the next stop on our NZ trip.
Redwood Lodge was a delightful find after a long day of driving from Wellington. It is located in a very quiet and peaceful area. The owner is delightful, and also an incredible chef! The rooms were lovely and large, and we were so content that we didn't want to leave in the morning. I highly recommend for those that want a restful, friendly place to stay. It is also a quick drive to the Waitomo glow worm caves.
