I am so glad I didn’t book spa treatments or it was my hen do or anything like that. It’s meant to be a relaxing spa but they allow kids in the spa from 4pm - 7pm - far from relaxing! I think management need to revise these times or make them shorter because people are paying a decent price to use these facilities for it feel more like a kids swimming pool not a spa. I would advise people staying here for a hen weekend or long spa weekend to avoid and go somewhere kid free. You can also hear people above walking around quite loudly. Such a shame as the hotel and staff itself is very good and it’s so beautiful. Nice food and drinks and a lovely out back garden. Hotel staff are all friendly and welcoming and it was a lovely stay minus it not being very relaxing. Lesson learnt - check if it’s kid free and if it’s not to check times! I am not anti kid but when it’s a spa it should be relaxing not like it’s a children’s playground.
We returned to this hotel after writing a review last October. We had a wonderful night stay and were both very impressed with the staff who were friendly, professional and very welcoming. Our room was perfect, large and we’ll equipped. We enjoyed a swim in the pool and the water was a good temperature. Our evening meal was delicious, good choices on menu and service excellent. A wonderful breakfast the next day and again a great variety of choice. This visit we give the hotel 5 stars and would have no hesitation recommending the hotel to others and will definitely return again. A big thank you to the general manager Mark Dicks who is leading a excellent establishment
Went with friends for lunch. Furniture tatty and worn. Ordered a Caesar salad and got little gem lettuce with cheddar cheese, few croutons and a couple of slices of chicken and no dressing.disappointing to say the least. Won't be going again.
We needed to be near Southampton so decided to stay at MacDonald Not let. The hotel is lovely really furnished and a good sized car park. The staff are very polite and helpful. We didn't get a chance to use any of the spa facilities and what we saw looked really good. Would definitely recommend this hotel, it's about 20 minutes to Southampton and really well connected with the help of a sat nav.
We stayed at the hotel on 28th April as a hen party of 19. The hotel was extremely accommodating and all the staff were lovely. I special mention to the girls in the spa who worked extra hard for us all. We all thoroughly enjoyed our spa break. I would recommend and will be returning. Thank you for making our evening so enjoyable.
Ive stayed here before, but didnt realise until I walked into reception ! Helpful staff on reception, ckean but fairly average room. The floors/room numbers are rather confusing, particularly when trying to get from room to the gym. Gym is adequate but t there was something going on and there was a lack of staff, resulting in people having look for staff members so they coukd get thrir room keys back (you swap key for gym pass) or just hang around the gym and wait. This place is convenient for me at times so would come again.
Stayed here for one night. Room large and comfortable, good bathroom and lovely elemis products. Impressed with the china teapot and earl grey in the room, as well as fridge. Loads of sports facilities and reasonable food. All in all, a great stay thanks.
I stayed in the hotel on Monday 16th of April with my boyfriend for a birthday spa treat for him. Staff were all rude, abrupt and made me personally feel very awkward about the fact I was there for a spa experience. The room was average, about the same standard of a basic travel lodge. The package we brought state robes and slippers were provided in the room, however my robe was torn, and no slippers were found anywhere. The mattress had a large dip in the middle which made for a bad nights sleep. We were slightly confused about where to go for the pool/treatments. On speaking to the spa reception, we left feeling non the wiser, and also stupid. We embarrassingly wondered about until we finally found our way. We then had to go back to the reception for a card for the changing room, and had to ask for towels. The man on the desk was very blunt. ‘Do you both want a card for the changing rooms?’ Well yes, considering I’m female and my partner is male how on earth can we enter the changing rooms together?? Pool area has potential. Pool very small but quiet. Newspapers and old magazines were strewn everywhere. Saunas and steam rooms were also a lot cooler then the temperature of actual gym. Not once did a member of staff come to the pool area to check if everything was okay. We then showered (in our room, the changing rooms are vile) and went back down to the unhelpful spa desk to find out where we go for our treatments. Again, he vaguely pointed and said, a waiting room is up there. Again, we find our own way. The ‘relax room’ is actually two hotel rooms, that had a jug of water and some loungers. Not relaxing at all. Both therapists were lovely. However my pedicure was 20 minutes shorter then I actually paid for. My boyfriend enjoyed his massage. When my treatment was over I asked the therapist if she would provide me with flip flops so I could walk back to the room (my nails were wet so couldn’t put my shoes on) this is not something they provide. So I had to walk barefoot across the hotel to my room. I had black all over the bottoms of my feet when I got back to my room and the actual nail painting she did was far worse then I can do myself. We then had dinner - which was really nice. Breakfast the next day was very very poor. We checked out earlier then we first planned as we were disappointed with our experience. I actually work in a spa as a front of house manager, so I know things can go wrong. Maybe they’d run out of flip flops for example. Maybe they were short staffed so the poolside was neglected. However, all staff (again, except the two therapists) were abrupt and unwelcoming. I did the contact me section on the website over a week ago, and still have had no response. I would not recommend this place at all to people. Next time, we will stay in a budget hotel, and purchase treatments at a different spa separately as it appears this company doesn’t care about either aspect of their customers day.
Stayed for two nights with two children under 4 - the main reason for our stay - Peppa Pig World a short drive away. Pros: Nice rural location, plenty of parking, free wifi, indoor pool (selected times for children which I thought a good idea), spacious comfortable room, comfortable king size bed, great breakfast. Cons: Food. The evening meal was massively over seasoned, I ordered the chicken dish and there was no mention of black pepper but that was all I could taste. Basic but adequate meals in the Sports Lounge but couldn’t warm up our babies meal for us. We asked on the second night for our babies milk to be warmed up - female member of staff said she wasn’t allowed but the staff in the restaurant did it with no issue. Also advised no mayonnaise available (trivial but important!). Also on the website it mentions a Peppa Pig welcome pack on arrival for the kids? Didn’t see anything, wasn’t offered anything. Don’t get me wrong, we have stayed in far worse hotels but the food would stop us from returning. It’s crucial when you have little ones.
We stayed here in mid-March prior to a cruise. The welcome at the front desk was lovely with smiling, happy receptionists eager to please. Luggage for cruise was stored for us, saving having to take it up to the room (what a great idea as the hotel doesn't have a lift). Ate in the Sports Bar - excellent food and service but the bar lacks any sort of ambience sadly. Room was spotlessly clean and comfortable (cannot understand the reviewer who mentioned cobwebs and dust - certainly no sign of this). Car left in long stay car park at the hotel whilst cruising and taxi laid on to the port on the day of departure. You have to get your own taxi back to the hotel post-cruise but at a special price of £25 (excellent value for money all round). We were given all the details of the taxi company to contact. The only comment I would make re the return journey is that the hotel's pre-printed notes state that you should book the taxi in advance. When calling West Quay cars from the ship they said to only call them once we had transited luggage collection and border force as their cars were not allowed to wait. This is absolutely no problem as they arrived within 10 minutes of our call with text updates as to the reg of the car and how far away it was. Perhaps management would like to update their notes
