We enjoyed our overnight stay and slept very comfortably in the bed. We always stay at lq to earn points. If traveling through LA again will stay at the Covington lq. The best location off of I 12 and there was a Chili's right next to it but we got in to late to eat there.
My wife and I left Destin, in route to Houston around 6pm Saturday night, 8 July 2017. Within the first hour or so, we decided to travel as far as Covington, LA and spend the night. Brenda called the La Quinta reservation line and made a reservation at the La Quinta Hotel in Covington, LA immediately thereafter. Brenda was very clear with the reservation agent that we would be arriving with two adults and two dogs. She confirmed the property accepted dogs and sent us a confirmation of our reservation. At around 10:30pm we arrived at the hotel, only to be told by the Desk Clerk our dog weighed too much for us to stay at this hotel. He was very firm, not friendly and basically told us he did not care that we had a reservation and that the corporate reservation line knew they would not let dogs in excess of 20 pounds stay at the hotel. We had two dogs, one was around 17 pounds, the other was around 30 pounds. I was upset at this as it was now late in the evening, we were all tired from the drive and were shocked with this revelation. He told me he would call the police and have me arrested when I raised my voice. Again, customer service was not on the top of his agenda. In the spirit of full disclosure, he did give us the phone numbers of two near-by properties that accepted dogs, one of which we called and was able to get a room. It was the Best Western. Luckily, they had rooms, which is not always the case at that time of night. In fact, we planned to stay at the La Quinta Hammond hotel where we have stayed before, but it was already full. I called the corporate offices on 13 July to express my issue with this and was told, sorry but nothing I can do about it. The General Manager I spoke with, Cheri Alfonso admitted they were in the wrong, but basically too bad. After staying at La Quinta hotels for the past two years, I will be taking my business elsewhere.
The hotel needs a renovation badly- greeted by a scratched up elevator upon arrival. Carpets are dirty and bulbs out in the bathroom. The breakfast lacked something to be desired. The staff was almost non-existent....greeted by a sign that said deck clerk was "away" at checkout at 9:00 am.
The LaQuinta on Pinnacle in Covington, LA is dirty. Staff rude at checkin. Yappy dog across the hall. Staff seemed more interested in the dog being comfortable. Hallways reek of smoke. Room carpet dirty and sticky. Shower curtain coated in mold.
Enjoyable stay at a good hotel and great staff. There was some damage to the couch in the sitting room. The bathroom needed a better clean up, but basically OK. Windows also needed attention; oloked like they hadn't been washed in a while.
Upon arrival, the lobby is very clean and tidy. The door to the elevator and the frame itself required updating. The carpet in the hallways needs to be replaced. The front desk staff was unfriendly and remained aloof the entire time.
We stayed here for business and to see family over the weekend. Nice room. A few glitches (fairly normal stuff). Lamp between the beds was shorted out. Breakfast was more continental than hot. Scrambled eggs were overcooked. Coffee was tasty.
Glad to be able to take our dog with us but he was upset by our noisy neighbors. The insulation between rooms could definitely be better. Breakfast was awful. The room was better than other pet friendly hotels we have stayed in.
Stayed here 3-4 years ago and it was fine. Apparently nothing has been done to it since then. both the inside and outside need paint. It goes beyond shabby once you are in a room. Everything smelled old and moldy. Staff tried, but I got a broken toilet, broken telephone, broken hairdryer, broken tv between the two rooms. Don't stay here.
Hallways and elevators were very dirty as were carpeting in the room. Air conditioning was noisy. Room was in need of maintenance. Requested room was not received even though booking was done four days prior.
