Almost everything was good at this inn. It was clean, they left fruit in the room, the breakfast was good, the staff was helpful, the location was great, and the inn was the most reasonably priced for the idea. Also, despite being across the street from a hospital, it was quiet. My only complaint—unfortunately a significant one—was that the mattresses were quite hard. Hopefully this varies by room and isn’t the case throughout the inn. One tip—parking is not available at the inn for every guest, so book that in advance. Since the inn is near a university, we were navigating jammed one-way streets filled with students getting out of class at 4:00 on a Friday, and it took forever to find a spot.

Very old, worn out place; needs a good cleaning and maintenance! The bathroom sink would barely drain; I looked out to an old fence and garbage; air conditioner was very noisy, fan was loose and noisey, mattress was awfully old and lumpy, breakfast just cereal, toast, muffins, I could go on. Only thing good was the location.

The outside was cute. Inside no elevator to 3rd floor; my bed was a double sized bed, not a queen plus it was on a very noisy spring frame which kept me awake all night. I was overcharged and the clerk was uncertain how to resolve.

I liked the convenience of walking to the Halifax wharf and the shops and restaurants there. The area was quiet, making it easy to sleep. I had a leak from a ceiling vent during my last night there. The housekeeping staff did not meet expectations. On one occasion they forgot to place fresh fruit in my room. On another, I ran out of tissues but a new box was not provided. Even when I put the empty box on the bed, the staff took the empty box but didn't provide a new one! Finally, I just took a new box out of the housekeeping cupboard. But these relatively small issues didn't detract from a good stay.

Charming B&B with Excellent Customer Service

Our stay at the Garden South Park Inn was excellent, due largely to the wonderful customer service! Every staff member was incredibly kind and helpful with wonderful recommendations and friendly conversation. The room was absolutely beautiful and the bed was incredibly comfortable. We found the location to be excellent as well. We took an Uber to the waterfront for under $10 CAD and also walked to Stillwell Beer Garden one evening. Breakfast was described as continental but I’d say it was more like ’continental plus’ because, beyond lovely muffins, bagels, toast, and cereals, they offered hard boiled eggs, deli meats, cheese and crackers, yogurt and fruit. The coffee was also delicious. One note is that parking is an extra charge and not guaranteed, so one night we parked on the street for under $10 CAD and the second night we parked in the lot for $15 CAD. (Yes, this was more but we didn’t have to be concerned about adding more money to the app or moving the car at a certain time.) Overall, an excellent stay in Halifax at the Garden South Park Inn! We would definitely recommend it.
