The washrooms are very old school and there was dust on the exhaust. The exhaust also does not work and it got very steamy in the washroom. The carpets also need to be either removed or changed, they are extremely old. Being a famous hotel right on Barrington street it was extremely underwhelming.

Staff was great. Hotel not so much. It wasn’t the cleanest. There was stuff on the hall way floor for 3 days they never vaccumed. The rooms weren’t really clean either. The doors in the elevator don’t think have been cleaned or polished for a long time very dirty. There was a sewer smell in the halls as well and faint smell in the room.

Check in was easy. The staff always seem a bit rushed. The room was a sauna. Very difficult to sleep. We talked to the front desk and they moved us to another room. Unfortunately, it was the same issue. Uncomfortably warm. Staff tried to mitigate it, but it was definitely something out of their immediate fix. Management definitely needs to take a look at their heating / cooling units

I love to stay here when we have events in downtown Halifax because it is so central to downtown. However on our stay the line up to check in was over an hour long which was incredibly inconvenient. The lobby looked like an airport waiting room after a flight delay.

The location is perfect! Walking distance to the boardwalk, restaurants, shops, and bus stops to the city and airport. There are restaurants within the building and connected walkway to the Scotia Centre where food court, coffee, and other shops are plenty. Check in and out was easy, friendly staff and went extra providing my request for a microwave and a standard electric kettle in the room since I was staying for a week. Room was clean, functional, basic TV and mini fridge, interior furnishings clearly need updating. The pool was cold, sauna barely functions. But other than that, felt safe and comfortable for a solo traveller. Highly recommended!
