Have stayed at this Marriot several times in the past and recently just a few weeks past. Of all the Marriot brand in Halifax, 3 within 2km of each other, this one is by far has the best location with a view and quieter of them all. No free breakfast at this location but they do offer hot breakfast at a decent price and very delicious. The boardwalk is located across the street and leads to amazing restaurants all within 1km of the hotel. The Halifax market is at the end of the boardwalk and could enjoy amazing coffee selection and a must is breakfast pizza. They offer valet parking and I would recommend taking this as you don't have to find it yourself. The rooms are clean and very modern looking, only thing was the mattress was somewhat harder then we expected but overall the hotel is perfect for those who want to just park and walk the downtown. They also offer a rooftop patio and its a great place to enjoy the summer days with a drink. Highly recommended.
A perfect location overlooking nearby waterfront; ideal access to scenic boardwalk and near excellent restaurants (and bakeries for morning treats!).Really nice rooms. We took their 'cars eat free' offer (includes valet parking and $25.CAD gas card daily) and 'topped off' twice en route back to USA. We'd stay here again for sure.
I was in Halifax for business, the 1st week of June. It was a very nice stay. The Staff is amassing from Melanie in sales to Katie front desk supervisor and the always with a big smile Jill the food and bar manager..
We stayed at this property for three nights and found it to be ideally located for exploring the city (especially the waterfront). It is conveniently located within walking distance of the train station, which we took advantage of. The property itself is spacious and well kept up, with lots of convenient amenities including a bar/snack bar, store, and many quality restaurants within a short walking distance. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Service was very helpful -- especially at the front desk who not only made good restaurant invitations but also arranged a private driver to tour us around the area, since we were there before most tour companies had started business for the year. We would definitely return to this hotel.
Convenient location to water, restaurants & pubs. Clean king room on 7th floor with view of harbor. Room is spacious , comfortable & quiet. It would be nice if rooms had small safes! There is a lot of construction in this area of Halifax. Many sidewalks are unavailable so be cautious. Staff is polite and responsive.
We stayed at the Courtyard on the first two nights of a tour of Nova Scotia. We arrived by train and were able to walk from the station. Check-in was fast and the reception staff very friendly. Room 721 was perfect, we had a wonderful harbour view and the bedroom and bathroom were large. There was a sitting area and lots of space for luggage. There was a fridge, coffee maker, and all the usual amenities. The king size bed very comfy and positioned so you got the best of the view from it. Nice, clean and fresh furnishings. The bathroom was spacious with with plenty of towels and nice details like the magnified make-up mirror. There was no noise from nearby rooms. Breakfast was a slight let-down, on holiday, and with the -4 hours time difference we were ravenous, only to find it was like going to a Starbucks! There wasn't a huge choice but we got by, at least the cafe area is at street level and is bright and airy. The girls at the counter were very pleasant. We went to the swimming pool for a dip, it was well-maintained and very clean. The gyn, though small was great too. The top floor terrace gives you a wonderful city view, we took some great photos from tnere. On the final morning we picked up a rental car, the Avis office was a short walk away. We were able to park the car easily, and for free very close to the entrance, while we loaded our luggage etc. A great hotel, wonderfully located, with everything within walking distance. Pleasant staff throughout the hotel. A great first visit to Nova Scotia. We will be back!
Only stayed for 1 night as I was here for business, but the location seems to be good. I had a room similar to the ones viewed in the pictures but a little bit larger, and with a view of the water (from the 5th floor). The hotel was clean, quiet, and well kept, which is all I ask for in a hotel. There is a road directly beside the hotel, and you could hear the trucks on occasion, but not enough to disturb you. I could also hear the occasional fog horn (in the distance), which was a gentle reminder of where I was staying.
Myself and my boyfriend decided to take a last minute trip to Halifax for 4 nights. We booked through Expedia as usual and the Courtyard was one of the best rated hotels in the DT area & for good reason. When we arrived it was a quick & simple check in with a quick explanation of the amenities & what the hotel has to offer. They even took the time to explain some of the nearest attractions and best shops & restaurants. They asked what floor we would rather so we asked for the best room on the 7th or 8th floor, which is exactly what we got! We had an great view of the Keith's brewery and the ocean! Our room was extremely clean, with a king bed & a couch for lounging next to the window to enjoy the view. The bathroom was well laid out and they supplied us with a lot of towels and complementary toiletries. We took full advantage of the pool & hot tub (open 7-11) which was kept clean and tidy the whole time as well as the gym (open 24/7). As for the hotel restaurant, The Bistro, was extremely delicious! They serve Starbucks coffee (thanks god!) which we had every morning. We also ended a couple of our nights at the bar with some drinks. We ate supper in the restaurant one night, amazing salads & quesadillas! The wonderful front desk staff gave us free drip coffees a couple nights after the Bistro was closed (11pm). The hotel is right across the street from the boardwalk and so close to all the downtown stores and restaurants. Just a short walk from the popular street, spring garden road, which has a lot of shops and cafes; but the entirety of the DT area is full of cafes & boutiques. Overall, we will 100% stay here the next time we visit Halifax!
I just checked into the Marriott Courtyard in Halifax. Because I am on a Rewards Points stay (25000 points) I called ahead of checkin to ensure that I was given any available upgrades. I first called Marriott Customer Service who told me that my requests would not be a problem but that I would to call the hotel directly to ensure I that I receive the room that I want. My requests were the highest floor possible and a view of the water. I called the hotel and was told that I had already been upgraded and that I had an ocean view. Fast-forward to checking in when I am told that my room had a view that was "as close to a water view as possible without being a water view" and that I was in "one of their nicest rooms". Unimpressed, I oblidged. I am currently sitting in my room on floor six of eight, highly annoyed, looking out my window at a sea of concrete and no water. Additionally, I have stayed at this hotel on four separate occasions and my room is exactly the same as all of the other rooms that I had, certainly not "one of their nicest rooms". If this is one of the nicest rooms in the hotel I'd write it off immediately based on how small and seemingly vintage the room and washroom are. This is not what I expected from a 25000 point stay and I'm really truly unimpressed/disappointed. Anyway, I'm going to go back to looking out at the Brewery Market (as pictured below) and watching my very small television. Thanks Marriott!
Our 8th floor room had a water view. Very clean and comfortable. Quiet since we were not near the elevators and there were no public area rooms on that floor to be used by guests. Staff very friendly. Valet parking only if you arrive with a vehicle. Close by to many restaurants, night entertainment spots, near waterfront. Several tourist attractions within walking distance. Just remember it is all up hill from the waterfront to Citadel Hill.
