Our initial check in was efficient. There is valet parking, but there wasn't a bell hop to assist us with brining our luggage to the room. No problem, we grabbed our own trolley and we were on our way. The room was very spacious, but I booked what I thought was a room with 2 queen beds. The beds that are advertised as Queen are actually double. There were three of us, so two people in a double would not have been comfortable. They front desk did send up a cot for us, issue quickly resolved and our weekend begins. We did notice that the room was a little cooler than what we would have expected. Day 2 - we spent the afternoon shopping and came back to what we expected to be a clean room. If clean means the beds are made and towels replaced, then it was cleaned, My definition of clean would have been to remove the dirty glasses and replace them with clean glasses and also remove the garbage in the room. Maybe it was a busy weekend and the housekeeping staff weren't able to get everything done. Room was still a little cold, but a staff person came up and reset the heating unit and since he was there, he took away the dirty glasses. Day 3 - our weekend is wrapping up and we are packing to leave. Weekend was a success. One of the girls did a final sweep of the room to make sure we didn't leave anything behind and it was at that moment we realized how unclean the rooms really were. There is no need to mention what was there, but the hotel staff were informed. I assume housekeeping do not look between the bed and the wall, they definitely did not vacuum that area, if they vacuumed at all. Check out was easy, we did advise them about the fact that the room was not clean. The hotel staff waived our parking fee as a courtesy due to that issue. I would not book this hotel again, which is unfortunate, The location is convenient, the hotel is a nice hotel with a large comfortable lobby area.
This is a nice, modern, clean hotel. We enjoyed our room and the lobby lounge was very spacious. The wharf boardwalk and restaurants are only steps away. We’ve been to many hotels in the area (our kid goes to Dal university) and this is our favourite in Halifax.
We spent one night in Halifax at the Courtyard Downtown. It was one of the nicer Courtyards I’ve stayed at. We had a harborview room which was comfortable and spacious. It was also very reasonably priced. The best thing was the location, which was right across the street from the harbor and walking distance to pretty much everything, from the farmer’s market to the Citadel. The only drawback is that parking is valet-only. The cost was minimal for a major city- $27 Canadian, but you can’t access your vehicle after they park it. Check in and out were quick.
very beautiful room, very nice people working the front desk, valet parking was fast and friendly. lots to see and do here, highly recommend this place. spent 3 nights here and you don't need a car as its all close by.
I’ve stayed here before, but this is the first time I’ve thought that the hotel is starting to get a bit rundown. Overall an okay hotel, but some minor things for management to look into. Bathroom ventilation doesn’t do much, probably needs to be cleaned out. Tub doesn’t drain properly. Blackout curtains don’t close properly and some of the hooks are torn. Thermostat didn’t seem consistent, and no way to adjust fan on the analog control. Wifi speed inadequate for modern needs. Valet parking only, and several times when I called down to get the car there was no answer from the front desk. I think they’re too busy to answer the phone, just let me park my own car. Location is great, walking distance to the waterfront and all of the downtown restaurants and attractions.
If you travel a lot, especially for business, it sometimes is hard to be enthusiastic about hotels. What counts is the little extras. This hotel has some of those. The third floor Zen Garden is a quiet, wonderful place overlooking the water where you can drink your morning coffee, read or just or hang for a while. In room amart TV's with Netflix access is a nice touch. The location is in the tourist area but far enough away from the activity. Excellent access to great walking.
Nice, spacious room with a view. We overlooked Halifax Harbour 5th floor.Saw the sunrise, harvest moon, fireworks, the QE 2 and tons of harbour traffic. Bed was very comfy and it was positioned to look out the window. The sofa was super comfortable and great for harbour watching and TV watching. I loved getting a Starbucks from downstairs and walking out onto the warf to stroll amoung the people and watch the harbour activity. Rooftop patio is a great place to enjoy a drink(bring your own, no bar on the rooftop)
We spent two nights at the beginning of our vacation and one night at the end. Both times our room was comfortable and quite spacious with a partial view of the harbor. All the staff at the reception were very helpful and pleasant. The taxi service from the hotel to the airport, reasonable rate and pleasant driver. The only safe was at the reception and we would have preferred to have one in our room.
We stayed here on Aug 29th. I have stayed in Marriotts before and this one was no exception. Check in was quick, room was clean, beds were wonderful and the location was superb. We had a great view of the water and the price was reasonable. Walking distance to the wharf, farmers market, restaurants and breweries. Would highly recommend.
We loved everything about this place. Including the Terrance garden viewing on the top of the hotel!! The rooms were great. Bed was comfortable and the staff was super friendly! Would definitely stay there again!
