This hotel is not only beautiful, it is clean and has such cozy beds! Nice that it is connected to Barrington street shopping so you can get to it walking indoors. You may also choose to have a meal in one of several eating establishments while staying. The staff are friendly, professional. There is parking as well as a restaurant on site.
My first (and possibly last stay at a Delta Hotel). I am a Marriott Platinum member and am very surprised that Marriott continues to operate such an outdated facility that is literally crumbling. Our room was on the first floor, which is several stories up above the lobby because of a parking garage. We actually had to walk up a 1/2 story ramp to get to our room! The "balcony" was so narrow, we could not sit on it. Changed rooms to get a larger balcony. Now the positives. Beautiful view of the harbor from our balcony. Very courteous and helpful staff at the front desk and in the restaurant. Enjoyed our dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Bed was very comfortable. Clean room. Not enough positives to outweigh the fact that this hotel is a tear down.
An fairly typical and rather tiredly decorated city business-type hotel. Nothing to write home about. In fact I'm struggling with this review other than to warn travellers about the noise when a conference is in town. Yes, there was a conference in the hotel. An insurance conference. Very risky to stay there at this time (haha). We were on the 6th floor. On the top floor (8th) there seems to be some sort of party area, and it was there that the party commenced, and kept going until after 1am. 2 floors below we could clearly hear the music and lyrics, and the pumping baseline kept us awake until after 1am. Really bad. We did ring reception who were apologetic but I imagine the combined total of insurance company guests were paying rather more than us. The next morning we complained at the front desk and they confirmed there was to be another party that night. We were moved rooms to the 3rd floor (identikit room), and there was no noise from the party thankfully. What there was instead was noise through the seemingly thin walls from the couple next door. Lets put it this way - she was "a screamer". Anyhow, they were definitely enjoying their stay as we found out again first thing in the morning. So, 2 nights of disturbed sleep. The rooms themselves are OK - decent size and very brown in decor. Very good shower. No room safe. Staff were helpful. The buffet breakfast was actually very decent. Wifi is fast and free. Location is nicely central. Summary: earplugs recommended. I wish I'd selected a smaller, boutiquey hotel outside town.
Some of the older Delta hotels have undergone major upgrades the last few years, not sure if it's coming to this property, but this hotel is just getting old. From scuffed wood throughout the hotel, splitting wallpaper in the hotel room, worn hallway carpets, aging bathrooms and old & dirty elevators - for all intensive purposes this is currently a three star hotel charging 4 star rates. Appearances aside, the hotel rooms are large & spacious and the beds are comfortable. Staff throughout the hotel were polite and friendly, although the room I was given at check-in was the complete opposite of my Marriott elite profile and they were not willing to change my room. Another plus of this hotel is the close access to the waterfront, casino, restaurants and shopping. The reason for my stay was a business meeting in the hotel, but would I recommend this hotel if I didn't have a function there, maybe. If this hotel makes the investments of some of the other Delta's to make it a four star property, I would consider returning.
Lovely staff Clean rooms Excellent service Union hotel Great restaurant Delicious breakfast Nice pool I've stayed many times and will return for both business and pleasure Recommend highly My mother would like it Clean
I have stayed at the Delta Barrington several times for business travel. During my most recent stay I had a great sleep in the most comfortable bed in a room that was long enough to have a bowling alley in it. I also love that the hotel is connected by pedway to everything. I did have one humorous observation however; my room was 219 and if you see by the photo I've posted, it does not appear on the directional plaque by the elevator. Not knowing which way to go, I stood there like a husky puppy tilting their head back and forth. Is that? Do I? Where is? Am I being punked? (looks around suspiciously...) Do I run through the wall like the Harry Potter movie? Can I use a lifeline? Phone a friend? I eventually found it but the hotel may want to correct their plaque and check to see if this anomaly exists on the other floors as well. When I showed the pic I took on my phone to the front desk staff the next morning upon checkout, his jaw dropped and he called over the concierge to have a look and we all had a great laugh about it. Special shout out to Donald, one of the concierges who was actually on his way out the doors to the mall (perhaps going on a break) and saw that I was looking for help. He immediately returned through the doors and was only too happy to come back and retrieve my car for me. Great service!
Ok third time here, staff is great stay fantastic. No issue very positive. Brian at the bar top notice. If I owed a bar would steal him away! High recommend. Staff over all much better than most Marriott properties I stay at. Delta a good addition to the chain.
The Delta Halifax was an average hotel given the choice in the city. The staff were very helpfu land friendly. The food was also very good and the best competitive differentiation was reasonable delivery charges for the in-room dining! Indeed, at $3.50, you can't beat that....the room was average. The hotel has given them a facelift, but I must admit, it is superficial. The age of the building still shows through -- old shower fixtures, outside hall area etc. The hotel is connected to a mall, which was great. We could go over for a quick walk and get Tim Horton's or Starbucks without having to go outside. Overall, an ok stay but I've stayed at better hotels in the area for the same price.
I stayed at this hotel for a conference in September and was quite impressed. I normally do not frequent the Marriott brand but selected it this time due to the conference rate. The front desk staff were very helpful and my room was ready upon my arrival at 11 am (a big plus). The room I had was spacious and the bed was among the more comfortable hotel beds I've slept in recently. The room was advertised as a harbour view room and although you can see the harbour you need to look past the highway interchange first. Not the hotels fault but don't expect a stunning seaside view. The bathroom vanity and mirror were chipped and slightly damaged but otherwise I enjoyed the room. The fitness centre is also well equipped and large. The hotel is connected to the Scotia centre mall which prevents you from needing to travel outdoors to get to the conference centre in the rain or snow etc. The mall also has a small food court and selection of stores (pharmacy, liquor store etc) where you can get any essentials you need. I found the housekeeping services to be very good and had some nice notes left for me by housekeeping each day. The restaurant/bar in the lobby was also great with friendly staff and I tried the happy hour menu daily.
The service we received at this hotel was exceptional. We showed up well before check in time and they graciously accommodated us. Margaret and Scott were especially helpful. The bed was comfortable and the patio outside the room was very enjoyable in the mild temperatures. The hotel was within walking distance to the Citadel, the public Gardens and great restaurants.
