Nice rooms, very comfortable. Great restaurants. A little expensive, especially for things like massages. I was there for two nights. There was very good bands there both nights at one of the restaurants.
We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and generally had a good experience. The room was spacious and well appointed. The staff were friendly and helpful. There are 2 areas that the hotel should improve. Firstly, we paid to access to the Club Lounge on the 15th floor. The first evening we went in, the snacks had pretty much all been eaten. The bar tender did bring us our drinks, however, they were very slow to replenish the snacks. The lounge was full and we got one of the last seats. There were many children in the Lounge and they were running around. It felt more like a children's play ground than the Lounge of the Intercontinental hotel - not the restful, quiet environment we had hoped for. The next morning we went in for breakfast and again there was very little food and we had to personally down to the main restaurant to collect some cereal. The lounge staff were good, however, there was only ever one of them and they were run off their feet. Our experience the next evening and following morning was pretty much the same, with the added feature of a mother changing the nappy of her baby right in the middle of the lounge - only steps away from the toilet with baby change facilities!! Intercontinental - If you are going to charge for access to the club lounge then you really need to think about the product your guests are experiencing as this was below our expectations. Secondly, we spent some time at the pool which again fell short of our expectations. There were not enough sun loungers so we ended sitting at a table which fortunately had an umbrella. There should be more loungers and umbrellas for a pool of this size. Also, they were playing music which was extremely loud. They did have a band in the afternoon which was good.
Last day in Guatemala spent here. Quiet spacious room with good AC and comfortable bed. Windows have not been cleaned for years. Breakfast buffet very good with local food and traditional breakfast also. Free shuttle to airport every hour but arrive 10 minutes early as it fills up. One block to very nice shopping mall.
This hotel is filled with the warmest and friendliest staff. Starting from the shuttle service that picked us up from the airport to the hotel. We arrived early and were allowed to have an early check in, which helped us out since we took the “red-eye”. Bellhop was friendly and accommodating. Slept really well in some comfortable beds, which also had a “pillow” menu, for those that are interested. Room is spacious and bright. Bathroom is equipped with a separate shower and bathtub. Enjoyed a splash at their pool and jacuzzi. There are several restaurants on site, with different options. Maya Lounge has a night cover band as well as other acts.
The best restaurant the best food totally fresh I advise to visit on Sunday on the seafood buffet. Ask for sheakspeare and Marisol from market the best service and recommendations family friendly and include all you can eat and drink on seafood an michelada.
It feels like a new property, everything in its place, really comfortable and with plenty room space. The staff was very friendly at all times. Complimentary transportation from airport is a nice plus. I wish they put two bottles of water in the room instead of one.
This hotel is probably the best of its kind in Guatemala, and you would understand so the moment you enter the doors. The rooms were very good, with king sized bed, a large television and a packed minibar and an adequate bathroom. The bathroom did, however, lack a fan so it quickly got humid in there. I loved the room and the room service, which I found reasonably priced (room service is never the cheapest option) with the friendly staff making my stay there very enjoyable. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with the room service when I ordered Ceviche de Camarones my last night, and wound up having food poisoning for the following days. I wouldn't recommend having any raw seafood there. The heated pool and jacuzzi are among the many high quality amenities this 5 star hotel offers, and I was overall very satisfied with my stay.
At registration, I remembered I was a member of the IHG (Holiday Inn) group and that got us on the concierge floor, which was very pleasant. Food and water available most of the time, which worked out well as we were out most of the days we were there. Our room was large and with a lovely view of the city and a volcano. The Maya Sky tour folks arranged for a half-day city tour and a full day trip to Antigua, both of which were handled very well.
Great reception on arrival...friendly and welcoming lobby and staff. Upgraded to Club floor...very nice. But not advised about how to access the Club floor...had to return to front desk to have access added to key. Hallways and rooms smell great. Yes, an unusual comment, but apparently they use aromatherapy in all places...very nice touch. Beds very comfortable and work area very useful. Bathroom has a tub and shower. Wish the shower were larger. Shower head needs to be replaced (can't be adjusted by user) so it's not prickly. It also has no handheld wand so only the overhead shower is used. Club breakfast was just OK. The good: attendant made nice coffees for me and is very attentive to guest needs. The not so good: the tropical fruit juice carafes are not on ice, so the juices are room temperature. The hot foods are not hot...barely warm. Pancakes are dense, just barely warm made worst by cold syrup. Breads were stale. Departure at reception was easy and bell staff was very kind.
This hotel faces strong competition. It is old fashioned with bathrooms lacking hand-held showers, and carpets that make rooms humid and consequently smelly. Check in and check out makes and breaks hotels and this is a weak point. The food is delicious and as good as it gets in Guatemala. Waiters, however, lack adequate training. I would like to peak to the owner, Sr Poma about this matter.
