FilippouVilla was absolutely perfect - a little paradise in Crete with very accommodating owner.
We had a fantastic stay, from the moment we were greeted on arrival by Andreas with wonderful Cretan food and drink, to the moment we left (as close to the very last minute as we could make it!). The villa was perfect for our extended family group - excellently equipped and laid out for a large group wanting to spend long evenings relaxing, eating, drinking. Everyone had plenty of room, comfortable bedding, good bathrooms, well equipped kitchens and immaculately looked-after pool and gardens (complete with plentiful vines). We used the barbecue area, and especially the large dining table in the shade, and the seated area with large sun-umbrella a lot. The beach town of Georgiopoulos is a very easy 10/15-minute drive from the villa, where there are boat-trips, water-sports and nice bars along the beach front. We didn't explore the island greatly, because it was too tempting to enjoy the villa itself. Andreas and his father were the perfect owners - available when we needed to ask a question, and bearing gifts such as olive oil and raki - but never intrusive. The drive from Chania airport is very easy (under an hour). The village is very, very quiet - no shops or bars at all - but there is a nice little, non-touristy town about 10 minutes' drive or 30-40 minutes walk where you can stock up on food etc.
