This is a "transit" hotel - by this I mean you see a lot of 1 night stop overs from tourists, courses in conference rooms and visiting business people. Coach parties seem to be the staple - which leads to some odd sights when they clearly don't understand the language on the signs .... coffee on cereal? Room was as expected - as someone else says you know what to expect and they meet their corporate standard. Breakfast is ample and included. Bar is v. expensive.
We only stayed for one night but were very impressed with the hotel our room was very large and so was the bathroom. The room and all communal areas were spotlessly clean and the breakfast was available until a very civilized time. On top of this the staff were all amazing very friendly and helpful to us and our dog Wilf. A special mention to Helen on reception who made sure we had the perfect stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking to stay in the area.
Great stay! One overnight stay good breakfast selection included, cereal, bread, croissants, bread rolls, fresh fruit with yoghurt and hit selection. Great! Well appointed room with TV and coffee making facilities. Ensuite with large shower and toiletries. Helen on front reception (26/5/18) on in the morning....... very attentive! Thanks. Good base fir Greenock, Gourouj, Port Glasg ow, Largs Weymss Bay with good public transport connections to all. Ferry links all the nearby islands too!
Had to find a room at short notice late afternoon having viewed a rather distasteful hotel elsewhere, you know what to expect at Holiday Inn the reception booking was swift and helpful. the room sizeable with a good bathroom very clean, we had bar food for supper and it was fine. At £69 per room with breakfast it was good value.
Couple of nights training needed a base to lay head... chose the HIE and was not unhappy with my choice. Comfortable rooms, breakfast included (good choice) and free parking. Only issue I had was that room was a family room and they had made up this to be a bed so there was no where to sit...
Stayed for one night before performing with my pipe band at Gourock highlands games. I booked two rooms one with points & one with a normal rate. The welcome at the hotel was very poor, I found the reception unwelcoming and lacked any personality. There was no verbal recognition of IHG elite status, no offer or a free drink coupon or points (I found I got points next day on email but wasn’t given a choice) even holiday inn express are usually pretty good at this. One of the rooms 221 had a strong smell of sick, it had been cleaned but the smell lingered. I asked to move room which they did but would be better if attention to detail and the room wasn’t re-occupied again until smell subsides. The rooms are old style holiday inn express & the bathroom is one of the oldest I’ve seen. All that said, breakfast was ok and the location adequate and I slept ok. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much about this hotel that left me wanting to return to it. I feel it was generally poor and could be much better than this. I've experienced much better hospitality in Scotland with this chain of hotels.
Very comfortable , Clean and cozy rooms . Friendly and welcoming staffs . Well impressed definitely will be back ! But Breakfast could be much better but still not bad . Rest everything top class !!!!!
One night stay - easy to book online and check-in was very straightforward. Good location to find. Very quiet room - outlook not great but was fine.Room was spacious and had good hanging area and adequate drawer space. Large TV. Shower room needed a bit of updating - shower curtain is not really in nowadays. Curtain rail was rusty so maybe refurbishment is on the way. Plenty of hot water.Breakfast was fine for the price and the grab bags if you are in a hurry are a great idea. Cold buffet or a hot breakfast are available. Plenty of parking. Easy to find on way into Greenock from the East.
Stayed here whilst attending a reunion last week. Excellent staff, spotlessly clean. Stayed in Room 001. Blackout curtains.....excellent bad, water pressure. Just all great! Breakfast most enjoyable. Have stayed here a few times and the standard has remained good. The hotel appeared to be busy but that has no impact on the service in any areas. En route to the room, the Maintenance Man (I assume) was at the door of the next room.....he very kindly said "I will just check you have no problems with the key". There wasn't, but the keys are a little different from what I am used to... I should explain its the way the arrow points! Thoughtful staff!
Stayed for a night at the hotel. Easy check in, nice room, decent price. Meal in evening pretty expensive for the choice and quality, but tasty enough. My problem was in the morning. It comes with an inclusive breakfast in the price. When I opened the food warmer to take some items, a big plume of steam came out and a lot of boiling water shot out and covered my tshirt, jeans and bare arms. The kitchen staff came out and asked what was wrong. I showed him the water everywhere, my clothes and my burnt arm to be advised 'thats a bit strange, shouldn't of done that!'. No asking how I was, just spent time looking at the warmer. I am a trained nurse and was heading to the toilet to get my arm under cold water, when I was approached from one of the staff from reception who had seen a commotion. Explained I'd talk later as I was scalded and trying to get under cold water. To give her praise, she fetched a burn kit and offered it to me. The burn was under cold water now and was not blistering. I commented that it was lucky it was an adult and not a child, as the amount of water that hit me and the level would have hit a childs face. I went back to my family, and was surprised to see that there was people still using it. I approached reception to query this to be told that it was breakfast time and was needed and that they had a member of staff posted to make sure to look out for future incidents. Maybe they have to wait for a second injured guest before it is an issue? The staff had looked out paperwork for me to complete and sign to describe what had happened. I was unfortunately in a hurry and asked for them to be emailed to me. 8 hours later, no email or phone call to see if I'm ok. The hotel is fine, and staff are great. I would recommend, but stick to the cornflakes!
