Dirty can't describe this place because no one would believe it. Just a few of the highlights. Soiled linens, had to go buy new pillows, towels, and air freshener. Water for a shower was one temperature, and water was brown, brown spider in the tub, toilet seat was cracked, toilet would not completely flush, coffee maker but no pot, mold growing outside, swimming pool was weeds and a dead bird.If you see the outside you will not stay. This was our only choice because the other hotel was full, for an all school reunion. I can't even give this place one rating.
The room needs a lot of work, before I would stay or recommend it. There was a crack in the toilet seat, a spider in the tub both days. There was a coffee maker, but no pot. There was no trash can in bathroom. Also needs a new faucet in shower, the toilet does not flush right. Sheets do not look clean, nor the bedspread. They advertise breakfast, but none. No cups for coffee. Not pleasant experience. A//C not working too well.
We were trying to be economical. But never again. The funiture is falling apart filthy. The towels and sheets were disgusting. This used to be a nice little hotel, but it is not any more. Strange things going on in the middle of the night. Very few cars in parking lot. But we would be woke up in the middle of the night and look out to see what was going on. And people would be coming out of rooms crossing the parking lot and going into others rooms. Not sure what was going on drug deals going down who knows any ones guess. More often than not there was no one in the office. And the continental breakfast does not happen. Horrible place.
I was told a room would be $59.95 but had seen on expedia earlier in the day it was $48 when I thought it was already pre-paid by my company. I asked about a reduced rate and was told the lower rate was for the previous owner and they had updated. I walked into the room and the first thing I saw was furniture with beat up edges and an old tv - with a non-working remote. This is what upset me most was being told the rooms were updated and that was a lie!!! I pulled back the bedding and there was a very large stain right by my head. I asked for another room. It had 2 beds and both had smaller stains. It was very late and I chose the bed which looked cleaner. The floor needed vacuumed. There was no wash cloth and the towels were very skimpy. A co-worker said his wash cloth was clean but very stained. My company will not be back.
We arrived on December 7, 2016. No towels in the room, coffee pot with only decaf coffee and no cups. No soap provided. Bottom sheet on bed was not even tucked in so the sheet wadded up underneath us. Fridge froze all of our food and drinks that were not even in the freezer part. The room heating unit was very noisy and the room temperature would switch from freezing to burning up. We had stayed at this hotel before with no problems. This is the worst visit ever! Will not go back.
Townsman is one of three motels in small town. Booked motel for 3 nights to attend Fort Larned conference and paid in advance. Approaching the motel we observed the property was a mess with litter. The pool was drained and ice machine was non working. Receptionist informed us the computer system was down and she could not print a receipt. Room assigned did not have working television, telephone or clock. The wireless service was spotty. Requested a different room and was told they were all the same but someone would come and make repairs. Decided to check out and requested a refund and was told they couldn't give a credit because computer was still down. In addition to the conference there was a large wedding and no rooms available in town. Nearest available motel was in Great Bend about 25 miles. The manager stated the rate would be reduced for our inconvenience. Agreed to stay at reduced rate. Requested towels to cover soiled and stained chairs. We dared not unpack suitcases for fear of bugs. No one showed up to fix the TV or phone. Had no maid service for three days. Had to exchange and pick up towels and ice at the lobby. Breakfast was offered when we made reservations but was not available. We were informed the out of state owners stopped the offering. We felt as we were being held hostage. At checkout I requested our refund and the manager told the me the computers were still down but she would take care of it. Followed up in the next week and manager stated she had not gotten to doing the credit. Followed up again and was told the out of state owners had not approved the refund. Contacted my credit card company and requested stop payment on the charge. Submitted letters but unable to submit documentation because never received a receipt from motel because the computer was down. To date have not received a credit promised by the manager. In hindsight we should have forfeited our prepaid room and made the drive to and from Great Bend.
First of all the staff were great and trying very hard. Unfortunately it seems like not much support from owners (who live in another state) Several members of our family stayed here in 2015 and had a good experience. This year - no breakfast "because owners decided to suspend it" and staff was paying for it out of their own pockets. Rooms were not ready. Under staffed. Room keys given out to rooms already occupied. Lights out in rooms, frigs not working. Pool is still not working. Looks like owners dont want to put any money in to it. Unfortunately it is a bad reflection on a great little town in Kansas.
Checked in to only stay one night. Getting unpacked and ready for bed when we pulled the covers down and found a NEEDLE between the sheets. IMMEDIATELY went to the office to get a refund and get the hell out of there. The woman working at the desk had the nerve to call us rude when we warned someone (who had children) that was about to check in. She tried to get us to come back the next day to get our money because she was more worried about her "register being correct" than taking care of an EXTREMELY disgruntled customer. This was the most disgusting experience we have ever had traveling. Absolutely unprofessional, and unacceptable. This place should be shut down.
Carpet soaking wet from ac leak, funky smell. Had to use ice bucket to catch water that just dripped right onto floor. TV did not work - tried to fix, but found the hdmi plug had previously fallen apart (at least they use hdmi connection.) Large group of people literally having a tailgate party in the parking lot outside room. At midnight. They kept forgetting which room was theirs and pounded on our door three separate times. Half of the lights were inop due to not being plugged in. Why? Not enough outlets. Guess they haven't thought of using a couple power strips. The office is really cool vintage. Unfortunately that's where the charm ends. Rooms are surprisingly spacious, but very tired with worn everything and questionable decor from like the 80s or 90s. No doubt this place was cool at one time, but any trace of those days are long gone / destroyed / covered up. Beyond the soaking wet carpet, it was relatively clean-ish. Saw no bedbugs, but there were a couple other minor critters here and there. Despite the party outside, room was pretty quiet - especially compared to new hotels. Nevertheless, with the room flooded, tv kaput, and the party out front (and their repeated pounding on doors), we knew sleep was not gonna happen. We finally gave up and went to the office to check out and just drive all night. I calmly stated all the issues to the office employee and was handed a receipt with no apology or concern whatsoever. I said thank you and left. Imagine my delight when I later read the receipt - absolutely no refund or discount at all. Full pop. So our hour and 20 mins of bizarre nonsense at the Townsman cost us $72. Never never again.
Decided to stay at this hotel for a family reunion because of the pool. We get here and are told that the pool hasnt worked for two years. The tv looks like it is from the 70s, the tub is old and gross. This place is a dump. And it cost us 65 dollars. Thats not alot but way too much for this place. Should have stayed at the hotel 100 yards away
