Vomit on the rug, phone had no buttons just holes where buttons were supposed to be, paint peeling, dirty smell. I have stayed at more than a thousand hotels around the world. Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The staff was nice, but they couldn't do anything. The place is under renovation and it will become a Delta by Marriott by summer. I saw one of the rooms that it will become......thank God. I might give this place a try when I am in the area again because of the potential, but for now....it is a disaster.
Really needs to be updated badly! Really Really badly!
My first room had lots of hair and someone's chunky spit up in the sink. The second room they gave me had dirty used soap and washcloths in the shower; in my exhaustion I did not see this until I was already in the shower. I would not recommend going to this hotel.
The back door was propped open at all times-- no secure entry. It wasn't very clean at all, even in the rooms. It's the kind of place where you only take your shoes off when hopping into bed, the carpets were so scuzzy. The staff were all nice, but smoked directly outside the back door, making the hall smelly and I wasn't happy to walk through the cloud of smoke with my little kids each time we entered/left. The elevator doors open and close before it was done moving from floor to floor. The hotel pool was fun, though.
The room was very clean. The halls were a bit noisy. The elevator is pretty run down. The breakfast was strange - it looked like a free breakfast, but it wasn't. The breakfast itself was not very good, and not worth $7. But, the staff were very kind and accommodating.
Mold in shower. Dirty floors on the floor in the halls. Uncomfortable bed. Tiny pillows. Wifi is a joke.
our room was so nice. nice pool. clean room big bed so clean
Pool, game room, and rooms were clean. Could of came with breakfast for the cost of the room.
My husband and I stayed here the night of our wedding. Room was very nice and clean, along with amenities. However, the location was not our favorite. Would stay at another Ramada Plaza again.
Overall this place would be a great value if the rooms were cleaner! There was dust and grime in easy to see and reach areas. There was gum on the bathroom tile. The room felt dirty and I was a bit unpleased since I have a totter running around. The pool and stay were great!! Location couldn't be better for a fun weekend. Close to Dave and Busters and Sky Zone.
Well the stay started off with a room change due to a little mold in the shower due to a previous leak. But management, who was unaware of the situation and very appreciative for making them aware of the issue, offered to put us in a suite. While we were there, we ate at the Old Chicago restaurant which is attached to the hotel. We had the thick crust pizza which was very delicious. At the end of the evening we went to the pool area and enjoy the jacuzzi and the waterslide during the adults only swim. The room was clean and equipped with a microwave and mini fridge which was handy. Overall it was an enjoyable experience!
Room was not cleaned all 3 nights we stayed there there was no one available to even bring towels up when called for
About 4 a.m. we were awakened by the very loud banging beneath our window of garbage pick-up trucks ( we assume). Then at 6 a.m. we endured 20 minutes of the fire alarm blaring. When we tried to use our room phone to ask the desk if the alarm was false, we discovered the phone was out of order. Our companion across the hall had a room phone that worked, but the desk did not answer. The fact that we could not receive a courtesy discount because "we had booked the reservation through a travel vendor instead of direct" was the final straw, after suffering with the tiny, inadequate bathroom and lack of any quality sleep. We would have been dollars ahead, and perhaps not any more sleep deprived if we'd sat up all night in our car.
Horrible noise levels from hall - could hear every walk-by conversation well into the night. Mold in bathroom; remote did not work; one plug did not work; ironing board - no iron. Stain on wall that made my wife nervous. Huge details missed, so imagine the little details left undone. Slow desk clerks. Hated this stay - paid $139 not sure I would go back if they paid me the same. Go anywhere else, at least there is a chance it would be good.
Hotel is in a good spot. Rooms are clean but could use a painting.
I came really far for a meeting/conference and needed to stay overnight in GR. I was so tired when I checked in but it went smoothly and the people at the desk were really nice. The room was great for the price but it goes down from there. When I ordered food the delivery guy came directly to my room when I asked to have him wait in the lobby - so lone travelers beware, I didn't get my wake up call in the morning and was late for my meeting and they charged my room for a long distance call because I dialed one plus the local area code. Instead of just taking it off after seeing it was local I got harangued at the desk and was even denied a receipt because I booked through a travel site. So they want to charge your card but don't want to give you a receipt for it if you book on a travel site. I had to dispute the change with my card company right then and there, and then the woman that was helping me was being distracted by a colleague who was completely ignoring the fact that she was with a guest. It was weird. I was in mid sentence and she literally just walked up to the desk and started telling the desk agent she finally confirmed the group she was working on and that her son Joey got the dog anyway even though he didn't deserve it. I was just looking at her and kept talking. LOL, I couldn't stop. It was weird and amazingly annoying. Joey probably does deserve the dog but the woman just doesn't notice him. I get to add that because it was apart of my conversation. I was going to ask for an extra night and just big up the additional charge but ended up staying at a different hotel. Stay here if you like haggling and being late for your meetings.
While visiting family in Michigan, we needed a hotel close to the Grand Rapids Airport. The Ramada was the perfect location. The only issue I had was when I booked the room I read there was a free continental breakfast. Not so much. I was pretty ticked off that the buffet breakfast cost $7.50 per person. The staff was awesome and accommodating, the room was super clean and nice, and a fun restaurant was available just next door, and accessible through the hotel. I would rate this five stars if it wasn't for the dumb breakfast situation.
I had to find a flight and hotel from Florida to Grand Rapids about a week from when I arrived. When I got there, I thought the lobby was more impressive than what I had expected. The floor the room was on (second floor) kind of smelled like chlorine, and when we opened the door to the room, it REALLY smelled like chlorine! Other than that, the room was alright, definitely not a five star hotel, but far from the worst place I've ever stayed. The staff at the front counter was nice. I would have no problem staying there again.
This is a good hotel located in the heart of the main shopping strip in GR. I was there on business, but I was able to easily get to anything I needed within minutes. The staff was wonderful, and the room was clean and quiet. I am grateful to the staff for allowing me to check in way earlier than 4 pm because my flight arrived earlier than expected. This will be my main hotel whenever I come to GR.
Spent a few nights at this hotel during the winter vortex. Nice location with a shopping mall and discount theater within walking distance. During the weekend the hotel hand a "LEGOLAND" feeling with children running to and from the pool & slide area (hallways, front desk, etc.). Since I have a six year old child it was OK. If you have breakfast I would go with only the Continental.
