This hotel is in a quiet location, not easily found but it is a large hotel with spacious rooms. There is a large seating area with a swivel flat screen and desk and mini- bar. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and well appointed. The hotel is either new or newly redone The breakfast was excellent and had a good variety. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Plenty of parking in the back.
I so loved the hotel...We booked our Suit telefonish, but although they wrote our names wrong...nd it took sometime to register us at the reception but...loved the way the lady handled the Situation.Coffee and tea are served free of charg to your room, sauna is free too. There's a free Tablet you can use in the room, free greetings water and soap, sewing things, shower cup...alles top and modern.only body lotion lacks..breakfast is selfsevice...though they could do better with the arranging..i recommend it fully and totally...with the staires and lift can one all over the hotel go...there's enough parking platz ...
This hotel is a wonderful place for a night or a two week stay as was my occasion. The room was immaculate, the staff professional and helpful for every request. It is very quiet even when full. The dining was delicious, really fine dinners, and the wait staff was courteous and friendly and professional. I recommend this hotel without reservation.
Rooms were updated, nice large windows, Swivel flat screen TV, bonfire at night, quiet location. Breakfast was outstanding with a large selection buffet. They even had "to go" bags for breakfast which we took for a lunch. Free wifi had two login screens, which was a bit of a pain. The night shift desk staff didn't know the best English, however it was not horrible. Parking is free, right outside the hotel.
The hotel is an interesting place. It is old barracks, and it has that sort of feel, although I feel that they've done a nice job at renovating it. The front desk staff was friendlier than any other hotel I've visited in Germany. This goes for the breakfast staff as well. They all went out of their way to accommodate us. Unfortunately, the hotel was overbooked for one of the nights during our stay, and we had to find accommodations elsewhere during the middle of our stay in Gotha. The hotel was undergoing construction, and the front desk person made a point to get us the most quiet room possible and we were grateful. I felt that the breakfast was nice. After a week, it was a bit tiresome to have the same offerings, but they did have a daily special that changed it up some. I loved the fresh rolls, especially the ones with pumpkin seeds, and if they were out by the time we arrived for breakfast, the staff seemed happy to bring us some they had in the back. We elected to participate in a bonfire dinner they had one evening. While the outdoor ambiance and fire were great (as was the acoustic band that played), the dinner was very expensive for the quality of food that was offered. Toiletries in the bathroom were non-existent. Not an issue, but something to point out. The one thing that I found most annoying was the horribly intermittent internet service. Pathetic. We counted one stretch of time where we had to log back on roughly every 90 seconds. It became such a joke that we gave up. We inquired about it at the front desk and they were very apologetic, but powerless to do anything. We are planning on staying here again. Here's hoping either the internet is reliable, or work doesn't need me!
Terrible hotel. Best western should review the franchise. Our 'comfort' (junior suite) was anything but. The furniture and decor were old and looked as if they had been put togther by the blind, nothing co-ordinated let alone matched, and nothing was comfortable. Bedding mostly polyester. The room was cold and damp as if it hadn't been used in months. The curtains too thin and let in light. No toiletries in the bathroom apart from bottles of liquid soap For the quality dinner was expensive. My asparagus, despite heavy advertising, was lifted some days ago and the hollandaise sauce, thin lumpy and acidic, with a skin on the surface. The ham was cheap commercial. Breakfast only slightly better, all very cheap food. Oh and the Internet wasn't much good either.
Staff and service were terrific. Area was a little stark and too far to visit schloss without a car. Free parking was a plus. Wifi worked great in the room but no tea/coffee making facilities which is a disappointment for a Best Western. Breakfast was good though a little chaotic, crowded and spread around. Dinner was ok but it might have been due to poor choices on our part. It's spargel season so asparagus comes with everything. Hotel wasn't too far from Friedenstein Castle but with a festival going on parking any where near it was a real problem with many blocked off streets.
Have been here twice already and everything was perfect! The meal is good, but has been even better when I was here the first time. Located on the outskirts of Gotha, ideal for both exploring the beautiful landscape and the lovely historic city centre (even without a car!). Tram station 150 m, sufficient parking (no additional charge), free bike hire (good quality). Rooms and bathrooms have adequate space. All is well kept! Ideal place for people who like honest quality.
The Best Western Gotha is in the suburbs of the city. For a walk it would take too long to the city centre. There is a tram to the city and its about 5 minutes by car. Hotel seems to be in a old military facility. Rooms are renovated and Ok, but not more. My single room was not very big and also not too clean. No pool or so. However it is in a quiet location. Breakfast was good. Good selection, nice breakfast room. Dinner however was just average, prices a little bit too high. Room rate was too high for this city.
Our GPS had no trouble finding the hotel but we were a little uncertain at first that we were in the right place. The area the hotel was in appeared to be in an old Army Barracks. I asked about that at check in - apparently the barracks was built by Hitler, occupied by the Russians and; after the wall came down, some of the barracks buildings were converted into a hotel. It is a very impressive hotel from the outside. Inside there is a very large lobby with a restaurant and bar. The reception area is on the side of the lobby just to the left as you enter. My stay didn't get off to a good start as the hotel did not have my reservation. I had made the reservation over two months ago on line via best western.com (U.S.). The lady at reception said "sometimes the reservations take a while to get to us". Fortunately my DH was thoughtful enough to have made a hard copy of the reservation. That worked as we got the type of room we booked at the price we booked (€ 95). The room was very large (probably 18 x 18 with a lot of space to move around. We had two single beds against one wall; opposite this was a sofa, chair and desk. The furnishings were on the older side, there were no headboards and the decorations were minimal but this did not detract from the comfort level. The room had a refrigerator and a small tube type TV that we did not use. The bathroom was also roomy with the typical long deep tub I have come to love. The tile on the floor was dark blue dots that I found pleasing. The heat worked great, which was good because it started to snow shortly after we arrived. One other thing about the room (and the hotel in general) - all of the ceilings appeared to be 4 meters high which really made things feel more spacious. As I mentioned, my room was large but I noted that the plan showed other rooms were half the size of mine (singles perhaps). These rooms could feel slightly cramped depending on how the furniture is configured. My room rate included breakfast which was very good. They had a fancy coffee maker that you could use to make espresso, cappuccino or any other variety of coffee with or without milk. You could also have a pot of coffee for the table if you didn't want to play with the machine. The coffee in the pots tasted the same as the coffee out of the machine...delicious. The coffee in most German hotels is very strong and delicious. I can't say that I have ever had coffee as good in Stateside hotels as I am finding in Germany. If you like your coffee on the weak side you may not like the coffee here. Other than great coffee the hotel had orange and multivitamin juice (only two choices). Scrambled eggs (with onion and chives to go on them), boiled eggs, bacon, all of the assorted breads, cheeses, wursts and vegetables for a typical German breakfast. They had small cups of plain yogurt with tiny bowls of blueberries and blackberries to stir in. I really enjoyed this; however, my DH did not. He is a yogurt fan but was disappointed that they didn't have sweet yogurt. One other thing of note - they had a large selection of fruits - fresh sliced pineapple and whole kiwis, apples and pears. It would be hard to not find something you like at breakfast. All in all I enjoyed my stay and will stay again if my travels bring me to Magdeburg.
