So when we first got to our room at Surfers Tradewinds, I was fully prepared to give them a 4 star rating. Yes it wasn't the tidiest, but it was also cheap. We got a room upgrade, and check in was a breeze. I once stayed here about 10 years ago with my family and dont remember any complaints ... But let me tell you the reasons my thoughts changed ... 1. The bond I had to check in after hours. The next day I see a form for me to sign requesting a $200 bank hold as a bond. This wasn't something I'd read about, nor was it something I would have agreed to upon purchasing my stay at Tradewinds. We are a young couple, pinching every penny; and needed that $200 as emergency money. I emailed the owner and request the bond be waived. The bond seemed ridiculous given the condition of the rooms. The carpets had stains everywhere, the heatpump was leaking water straight over an electrical outlet, the bathroom wasn't clean and the furniture wasn't cared for. If they have taken a bond of anyone, it certainly doesn't look like they have used it to maintain the rooms. This leads me to reason 2 ... 2. Lack of communication I had direct communication via. Email about after hour check in ... however, after I requested the bond to be waived, I never got a response. Further the manager is only on site between 10am and 3pm. Makes it really difficult to sort things out. This also limits the check in hours 3. The kitchen So the kitchen could definitely do with an upgrade. Even a few easy things like a functioning toaster and a non -stick pan. You are not provided with any cooking oil, dish brush, dish soap or dishwasher tablets. This makes cleaning dishes almost impossible unless you are prepared to buy everything yourself. 4. The Wi-Fi If you are in desperate need of Wi-Fi while you stay here, you're better off buying data for your mobile phone. The Wi-Fi was intermittent and when usable, often slow. We had to keep switching between Wi-Fi networks hoping for a good connection. Often times I'd just use my phone data instead. 5. Pest control Yes there are cockroaches in this apartment. And clearly they know this as they sent in pest control ... they let us know only a day in advance that pest control would be entering our room. As there is no safe in the room, this is not something I was comfortable with. Overall ... we wish we had paid more money and stayed elsewhere. It wasn't even worth staying somewhere with kitchen facilities as they were unusable.

Pros: Very close to beach and coffee shop just down the road, service stations around the corner, easy access to Gold Coast highway which will take you down the main strip. Inside hotel room was very clean, and modern. Very quiet inside and could not here any noise from outside. Staff were very friendly and able to accommodate all of my requests. Cons: Manager was always away so you would need to contact Jodie via phone for any urgent matters. Spa wasn't always hot you had to work it the right way to get it a bit warm. Cigarette butts outside private veranda in main bedroom, no door in en suite but had 2 separate doors to close off from room and the rest of the house. These are just tiny things. Overall i would definitely stay here again and recommend.

Whilst a good location and two blocks from the beach the accommodation was very tired, lost of things did not work. As we were here competing for sport we needed to wash and dry every day - the tumble dryer did not work, shower fittings were poor and leaked, taps dripped, cooking equipment was very substandard (a self contained unit) and the addition of a fold away bed was a nightmare. Tine, a bar in the centre of your back and a mattress that was about 5 cm thick - not good for a large adult male. Pool closed early of an evening and was locked so we could not access. Hmmm won't rush back here I am afraid

It's difficult to understand where any of the 'better' reviews of this accomodation come from. Maybe the staff wrote them? Our Room - Very tired, could use a real good clean, kitchen was sparsely equipped and some items had to be washed before using. Cracked toilet bowl, washing machine leaked, dryer didn't work at all, walls are paper thin, fan in bedroom sounded like the ch7 chopper, bathrooms had a good amounts of mould. No mop to clean the floors and the entire room had an unpleasant odour. Sofa bed was held together with cable ties and tie down straps, no shelves in wardrobes and every room had holes in the walls. Resort - Spa isn't heated at all (should be removed from description of the resort), tiles are falling off the pool, BBQ's x 2 haven't worked in months & receptionist was just flat out bloody rude and insisted we pay in full before arrival or no key!! We now know why... It's close to the beach though, so there is 1 positive comment. The maintenance fella did his best for us but seemed to be fighting a losing battle. I wouldn't come back here even if it was free! This is the 'Last resort' resort.

I made a booking well in advance to stay at Tradewinds and received a confirmation email with details. I was informed this week that the booking was cancelled with some poor excuse from the Manager . Stay away from this place. 😡

Central location, a block to the beach and tram basically at your doorstep. Apartments are roomy with a balcony overlooking the pool, have a washing machine & dryer, full kitchen, FOXTEL, internet access and are nicely furnished. Pool and BBQ area are great and the kids certainly got their money's worth in the pool! Only thing to consider is there are no lifts, therefore you are walking up stairs. But we didn't find this much of a problem (just meant we didn't have to feel guilty if we decided to tuck into some dessert 😜) We have stayed at Tradewinds 3 times now in the last 12 months and have enjoyed each and every time. Thank you Michelle for looking after us, I'm sure it won't be the last you have seen of us! Very affordable accommodation for families on a budget and definitely recommend. Will be back again for sure!

We stayed in one of the apartments for three nights. I must say it was a spacious place, fully equiped. The rooms were very clean. However I wasn't very happy with the common bathroom and the kitchen. Also, the swimming pool opened pretty late to the usual opening time. Other than that our stay was very comfortable. And being so close to surfers paradise this apartment was value for money.

Nice place, close to everything in surfers paradise. Is next to public transport, to the beach, restaurants, shopping centre, etc. The apartments are good, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, ceiling fan and parking. Friendly staff!

Disappointing. Carpet on staircase to room foul smelling and filthy . Numerous items in room either not working or broken .Location good.Bowling club nearby a find.Beach handy walking distance. Not again.

Stayed here in October for a friends birthday, and it was a fab place. We had one of the newly furbished rooms, which was very clean and modern. Lots of space, and had everything we needed. It was quiet and overlooked the pool area. The apartments seem to be mixed with those that people permanently live in. Pool was nice, and spa pool also good, but not warm enough! Reception staff were very helpful and friendly. We did meet some other people staying in an older apartment, and theirs wasn't nice at all. But i'm assuming the owners are slowly renovating all rooms. I would definitely stay here again. Location was also good, about a half hour walk to the main area and shops, and only a few minutes to the beach.
