Usually stop here to have lunch when I leave the highway and before going to the City of Geneva. They now have a buffet formula which is moderately priced but just tastes terrible for my taste. I don't think I will go back.
I was attending a conference at Palexpo, so this hotel is very well located. The rooms are a good size and clean. But there is no real service. Reception is not staffed unless the restaurant is open. Breakfast is included, but not available until 8.30am, which is no good if you have a business meeting.
I enjoyed four nights in the Annex. The room was fine and the wifi worked well. It was comfortable with adequate storage space. The bathroom was small but adequate. The heating was good. Barely heard neighbouring guests. Breakfast was "quirky" but pleasant. No fruit juices but fruit salad and other goodies (cinnamon toast, apple flan etc.). Not much jam but very nice croissants. Excellent cheese but meat sparse. The reason for the poor review is that I pre-paid for breakfast on the last day but the restaurant was closed and the place in darkness without explanation. I have emailed to obtain an explanation but no response in 48h. Poor service was mentioned in earlier reviews but nothing prepared me for not delivering what was contracted. Very disappointed as , otherwise, I was happy - particularly when Geneva was so busy with the watch exposition.
Quiet hotel whit great inexpensive dinner buffet and breakfast is also ok. The hotel is located close to the airport, exhibition center and the EBU. Bus connection to the center next to the hotel. Free Wi-Fi worked well in the room.
Pros: - Pretty, bright and airy room in cute hotel. - Very good location between airport and WHO Cons: - Lost a point for failing to provide the Geneva travel-card (I didn't know until someone told me the following day) - Quite expensive compared to airport hotels (but much more homey) - Service was just OK - Bring your own toiletries as the ones provided are sparse
This is a higglety-pigglety old farm house conversion, build around a well-priced restaurant - great cheap pizza, and a very affordable menu du jour which you can eat outside the garden. It's also one of the few hotels from which you can walk to the airport (20 minutes) so a great escape for an early morning flight if you have handluggage only. The rooms are small, but the price is unbeatable. Great location for walking distance to half the international organizations (e.g. IOM, ILO, WHO ...etc).
Beds are old and creaky. Service is dreadful in the restaurant. Hotel welcome was fine but no one (not anyone) to check out to. Good for the airport but there are better options. The restaurant experience is one I would avoid even though the food was ok. Two big issues are 1) it takes so long to arrive that you can't remember what you ordered 2) the staff speak neither French or English but Italian. That is a challenge. When it did arrive the food was decent enough.
We went there with a voucher to eat meat, there were to options: ribs or steak. I asked for tab water and they brought me a bottle of sparkling water, so I asked again for tab water and they brought me a (very expensive) bottle of flat water. Then I asked for the ribs and my 3 friends asked for the steak, and they brought me also a steak... it looked good so I didn't complain, but the meat was hard and not very good. I didn´t dare to ask for a dessert.
Having to participate in a seminar at EBU headquarters I selected the most close by hotel within company budget (140 Euros) I applied as always for a twin room but landed in a very small 4 squared meter cupboard with only a single bed so not what I ordered. I had to pay 50 euros warranty for my key and even did not get a proper document for this. Breakfast was below standard, with an old preheated croissant, and only one cup of coffee. Nobody asking if I wanted a refill. only cheese and ham and some weird sliced gread from the supermarket. I also had dinner in the restaurant. Overpriced tiny steak at 30 euros. Same with the draft beer. Not an experience to be repeated. Next time I will go to Starling (that is next door)...
Our second visit to La Colombière's Restaurant (Grand-Saconnex, Geneva) confirmed our first clearly negative impression: while the pizzas are nothing special but don't leave much to be complained about, the service does. The service is neglected and unfriendly to an impressive extent. The junior waiters themselves are correct, but their boss (probably the owner), who also seats you ("welcomes" would be a completely unadequate word in this context) and takes your order is amazingly unpleasant, like fundamentally upset by the customer's very presence. For some reason, he seated us both times at the worst table (and only one which was, and remained, without a tablecloth), while most tables were dressed, with tablecloth...and unoccupied. His visibly rude behavior towards the rest of the staff also doesn't help improving things. Things aren't much brighter on the price side...some pizze are priced a hefty CHF 28 (USD 30!!). Add another CHF 5.50 for a soft drink to the execrable service and you're off for a bad experience. Definitely NOT recommended.
