The Hanza Hotel sits right where Gdańsk quietly shows off: on the river, in the heart of the old town, without ever feeling touristy. It understands tone, which already puts it ahead of most places. The staff are outstanding — warm, switched on, and genuinely proud of where they work. Every interaction feels human and considered. Meals match that confidence: breakfast is fresh and well-judged, dinners thoughtful and properly done, no gimmicks, no filler. Rooms are calm, comfortable, and a pleasure to return to. There’s a quiet dignity to the whole place. If you want a hotel that respects both the city and your time, the Hanza delivers.

Thw reception staff are super friendly and that continues throughout the hotel. The location is excellent, we had s room overlooking the waterfront. The room was big and has a very comfy bed. Very generous to give us a complimentary bottle of fizz on arrival. The breakfast was superb, lots to choose from and fresh. Staff always greeted us with a smile. We had oysters in the bar one evening which were lovely. I would definitely stay again there a couple of little things they could improve on. There was a very funky smell coming through the sink in the bathroom and for some reason, we struggled to get cold water out of the tap at times. The rooms could just do with a little update, new wallpaper, carpet, bathroom suite. The view from the window was amazing though when people walk past late at night the double glazing doesnt seem to work very well. Just a heads up if youre a light sleeper.

The hotel was lovely. Great location in the old town and on the river. It was quiet and only a short walk to everything. Spacious room and comfy beds. It made a great base to explore the town from and also have a nice rest after a days walking. Would recommend.

The Hotel was as expected the room and breakfast etcetera wer as described a great position within a short walk to all of the sights. Unfortunately it is advertised as having a bar but this closed early if it even opened at all and the lounge area didn’t open at all some nights also we went back one night to have a drink before retiring to bed and was told that the bar was closed due to a private party for outside people who were not residents and that it was closed to residents which I find totally unacceptable and the staff were quite rude when we said that the hotel is advertised as having a bar for hotel residents please make potential guests aware that some of the amenities ie the lounge/ bar are not necessarily available we would not have booked this hotel if we had known this and I also think the staff take it upon themselves to open and shut when they like and if they can be bothered. Unfortunately there wasn’t a manager on over the weekend for us to make a complaint to.
