Located right on the beach, the hotel makes little use of this location. Rooms are comfortable but quite warm in summer, with no air flow. External doors were kept closed when they would provide cross ventilation.

Our room was clean but could really stand to be refurbished. It was a real challenge to open the door to the room with they key as it just spun around and several other rooms had the same problem. The pillows and mattress were extremely firm, The shower had very little pressure and it took a while to get somewhat hot water.. (Other persons in our party had rooms with plenty of hot water) ? The breakfast buffet was crowded and they ran out of eggs, bacon, etc, the food was rather bland and the service to get coffee, tea was slow. Dinner in the restaurant featured food that was mostly cold and very slow service. From the time we were seated and desert finished was over 2 hours and it wasn't worth the wait. This hotel just didn't meet expectations for a 4 star rating.

One of the nicest places we stayed in Ireland. Beautiful view from our room. Very relaxing and has lots of places to sit and talk. Even a library. Staff very kind. The locals in the bar were so much fun to talk with. Gave us tips for places to visit.

The purpose of the hostel stay was to visit my son who was spending 3 weeks in the Irish language college which was close by. It was the weekend when families are allowed visit so naturally enough prices were high. Paid €490 for a 2 double bedded room (2 adults and 2 children) which included breakfast and one evening meal. The room was booked last October. We arrived at the hotel Friday evening at 19:30 and was told to take a seat while the staff checked that my room was ready. Thought that was a little odd given the time but waited for a little over 15 mins and was told room was ready. When we got to the room there was one double bed and one single bed and a very small camp bed which had been put into the room. Quickly realized that room was not what we had been booked and the camp bed was so small, it was too small for my 12 year old daughter. I headed backwards to reception to complain. After about 5 mins the staff offered me two triple rooms with interconnecting doors. I was told that the upgrade was free of charge to which I advised that it should not have been necessary if we had got the room we booked. When we arrived at the rooms one of the bathrooms had the previous guests used towels on the floor and hairs in the bath. Obviously the room had been cleaned but not the bathroom. Back to reception I went to get fresh towels while and while we were waiting for them to be delivered my wife and I cleaned the bathroom. The next morning at breakfast we had to beckon the staff to come take our order for breakfast and when the food arrived, the tea and toast followed 5 minutes later. My wife discovered that the black pudding was cooked on one side and uncooked on the other side. Her scrambled egg was cold. She asked for it to be taken away and asked for some scrambled egg only. This arrived completely dried out and inedible. Needless to say that went back also so no breakfast for my wife other than cereal. The next morning the breakfast room was about 2/3rds full but long wait for table and again after waiting for 10 minutes we had to request the waitress to take out order. To my mind there was a lack of waiting staff and no proactive management of the situation due to the fact that the manager seemed to be run off his feet. When we checked out later there was an additional EUR86 on the bill which when I enquired what it was for I was told it was for my upgraded rooms. After some back and forth, the extra charge was removed. Overall, you get the sense that staff are friendly but everything is a bit chaotic and management need to take the place in hand. The decor in the rooms and health centre is in need of a bit of TLC and you get the sense that the hotel is a cash cow for the owners. My son is the first of our 3 kids to head to Irish college and while we intend to use the Irish college for our other 2 kids, we won’t be returning to this hotel.

I have visited many times over.the last 20 years. My visit last weekend was extremely disappointing. I paid for an upgrade to an executive suite and it's hard to see any difference bathroom very 1980s. Hallway upstairs wasn't clean dead flies around the window. Breakfast was a mess I felt sorry for the young staff. Tea and toast for 2 games to two slices of toast in total..maybe it's me. Kippers ..one fish nothing else.scrambled egg for my wife was good. Corners are being cut all around and at 230 euro for a double bed and breakfast it's not worth it ant more.

Stayed here recently family of four for one night. Room very dated and all the doors in our room squeaked and banged. Very noisy all round - you could hear noise from corridor and adjacent rooms. Bathroom and bedroom very mediocre and V similar to low grade b&b. Our room was opposite the laundry closet and in the morning you could hear the staff manager giving orders to cleaning staff at the top of her voice with no regard for guests sleeping. The staff also gathered outside our door and conducted loud conversations between themselves. Another annoyance was that we were given one room key (actual Chubb key not a key card) between 4 of us so we had to keep accompanying each other back to the room. Breakfast wasn’t good. The menu claimed there were all sorts of breads and pastries available at the buffet that simply weren’t there. Some crumbled bits of brown bread and a couple of croissants were there when we arrived. When I asked where the other breads and pastries were they said they had to bake more and we were gone by the time they were ready (about 40 mins). My kids left breakfast hungry. None of the breakfast cereals etc were replenished and were almost gone by 10am and breakfast was being served until 11.30! The staff should have been replenishing the food as it was being taken. The final nail in the coffin was our lunch on the last day. My husband ordered a burger and was told he couldn’t have it as they were working off a sunday lunch menu so he ordered an alternative lunch instead. Then two juicy burgers arrived out to the table beside us. When he reminded the waitress he had wanted to order the burger she told him he could now have a burger but would have to pay for two lunches even though she was the person at fault! After spending €500 in the hotel between room and food over the weekend that was just a bit much! The hotel struck me as in need of a good refurb and some staff training in customer service. Had I been asked upon checking out how our visit was I would have said but they just cared about me settling the bill and weren’t bothered. Wont be setting foot in this “hotel” again. Rip off Ireland is alive and well.

Stayed here as part of a coach tour 2 nights. Room 313 had 2 single beds, large spacious room, rea/coffee & kettle. No night safe in room. Open hanging wardrobe space beside entry. Room unbearably warm due to afternoon sun & open thick drapes, windows were closed on entry. No wash cloth, nice toiletries. Shower over bath with white curtain. Non slip mat provided & hotel encourages use, but i was fine without it. Shower head was left by house keeping pointing straight down, i was unable to move it. This caused water to flow onto edge of bath on taps, causing it to flow onto floor. Bath has timber finish on side & it has considerable water damage. Towels used to mop floor. Able to move shower head for next shower & it was fine. Others complained they couldn't get hot water to run thru, despite trying several tricks, running vanity, or bath first. Lots of places to sit on mezzanine level or outside, until sun goes down & room temperature goes down 5C. Breakfast, order off the menu, don't get hot food off the buffet, old & not very nice. Not much fruit, cheese or cold cut meat selection. Dinner in bar & restaurant nice. Taxi fare one way off peak back to Galway around EUR20.

Nice place to stay but the food is awful very bad would rather eat in supermac would have enjoyed the food more especially with the prize very disappointed wouldn't return again. Hope things can improve

Lovely hotel for a break or weekend away but breakfast is extremely poor compared to rest of hotel. Awful selection. Porridge was very watery and no other decent selection of food. But otherwise lovely!

Dear god I don’t even know where to begin. The restaurant in the Connemara coast hotel is shocking. The restaurant itself could do with a good scrub, bits of food in around the legs of the table a dirty grey cloth use to “clean” the tables and the cushions haven’t seen a wash in a long time. Ground in stains and dirty and smelly. The tv was incredibly loud and there were only two men in the bar! Oh and don’t even get me started on the food! Worst meal I’ve ever had in Galway in 12 years. Please use plates, chopping boards should never be used for serving food I was given one for a salad sandwich and I saw a man have a steak sandwich on one aswell how utterly disgusting. Wood soaks all sorts of flavours and rare steaks would ooze into the boards and then your serving a salad sandwich on same. Ugh. All in all A trip I won’t forget and I most certainly won’t be back. Shame as a very pretty location just needs a good old deep clean and a bit of TLC.
