Im a student who went to Leeuwarden on Erasmus with a friend of mine and we stayed for 2 weeks at the Campanile Hotel. It started out well. We paid in cash when we got to the hotel and everything was fine. The first situation that I had was that they took 65 euros plus what I had already paid them from my visa. I spoke to reception and they refunded the money so that was fine and sorted Last night was our last night at the hotel and we asked the receptionist to book us a taxi from there to the train station and she did. 5 minutes later she phoned our room asking us to come downstairs and pay her 11.60. We did so. This morning when the taxi took us to the station he said it will cost 15.80 and we had explained that we paid the hotel and he said that the hotel didnt pay them. I phoned the hotel and asked why they took money from us. The same receptionist from the night before was there and she said you paid for the beer. We didnt take beer. Heck we didnt even eat at the hotel or drink there because the restaurant is expensive. I asked to speak to the manager and she said that they will call us in 10 minutes. They never called me back. I know 11.60 maybe a bit of money however its not fair on us that she takes money from us and says its for one thing but then it turns out she just wanted to steal money from us. Because of this I can honestly say we wont be returning to this hotel.
This hotel is located approx 3.5 km. from Leeuwarden city center. It is definitely a budget hotel located in a quiet area and the cost for a double room was very cheap. The Personnel was friendly and willing to answer our questions and spoke good English. We were allowed to bring our dog paying a fee of 5€ per night. Parking and WIFI connection is provided free of charge. We did not have breakfast there. The room was essential, clean but I think it requires some renovation, same for the bathroom; beds were not very comfortable and quite noisy. Recommended for short stays.
The radiator in the room doesn't provide enough heat to bring it up to a comfortablr temperature. There was an ice cold draft below the door. The humidity level in the room was too low so turning over in the bed generatic a static electricity discharge (unhealthy and wakes you up). And finally I killed two unwanted guests in my room (cockroaches). On the plus side: the free Internet access works. I will never stay here again.
Nice location off the ring road of Leeuwarden, this cheap budget hotel is quite basic, but the rooms are spatious enough, quite modern and very clean. Very useful bas if you are only staying a night or two (maybe a bit soulless for longer stays). Easy access to the city centre by car or the fanstic cycle lane network. Breakfact is limited but good. Only minus point was the depressingly slow WiFi -though I was assured it was a temporary issue. Plenty of free parking on site.
Hotel is very close to the center of Leeuwarden and the price per night is very low. Bathroom and beds were good, but the rooms are small and not very well maintained (for instance, large holes in curtain, and the outside metal curtain did not work). Friendly staff. Price/quality is fine.
Really good price for the quality you are getting. It also pays of to take breakfast. It was 14 euros for 2 persons open buffet, again good price/quality. You can make fresh squeezed orange juice by yourself, coffee - not squeezed by yourself :) - ham(s), eggs, vegetable salads, cereals and similar, that is simple, yet nice. In the room you have tea cattle and instant coffee and tea begs to prepare yourself what you want. Enough towels, clean room/sheets, tv (but yet who needs a tv when you visit some new place). Perhaps it seems like that it is a bit far from the center, but when consider the price one cannot complain. You have the bus stop near by and by foot it just going straight to reach the train/bus station and city center. It takes around 30 minutes on foot, normal pace.
This is a basic and cheap hotel. The rooms are all very clean and it has a good shower. However there is only one power socket and that is in the bathroom. The food is OK a bit overpriced, there is a macdonalds next door but I did not go there. I was on a visit to the open day at nearby Leeuwarden airbase so this was just for the night. Would I stay here again yes I probably would if I visit the airshow again otherwise no.
This hotel provides good, clean rooms, with everything you need - comfortable bed, clean room, good shower. All at an extremely good rate. It is a little bit outside the core of Leeuwarden, which was no issue for us as we were doing lots of visiting all over and needed the car to get in and out of town. Dinner at their restaurant was also very tasty.
Leeuwarden is a small town and after I checked in, efficiently I might say, I brought my bag to the decent room, even with coffee making facilities and walked to the centre in 30 minutes. If just a bed and a shower you are after and easy access, this is your spot.
We stopped over in Leeuwarden for the night as part of our 5 day trip and we found the city itself to be a bit disappointing. The weather was cold and windy, although I understand from the locals that it's always like this. It looks unfinished, as though there is still a lot of building to be done. The Hotel itself was very good, and I thought it was quite a cheap price. The beer was a little expensive, but not excessively so. The rooms were clean and the staff very helpful. It is quite a way from the city centre and it took us quite a long time to find it. But I would certainly use this hotel again.
