Everything about Hotel Saint George is thoughtful, unique and highest quality; upscale yet unpretentious. The staff was friendly and kind, the rooms were quiet and luxurious with super comfy beds and lovely linens. Enjoyed the hotel, the LaVenture restaurant and especially Bar Nadar at poolside. Love this place and I can't wait to go back!
Hotel is oasis in the desert. It is a welcome after long travel time or after hiking or camping in magnificent challenging Trans- Pecos country. It is also a place one could stay a while for a restful time especially if one loves the West and trains. And it is a complement to the various unique art offerings ...Chinati Foundationand Ballroom Marfa
OMG where to start?!? This Hotel was just perfect! From check in, to the suite we stayed in, and don't get me started on how cool the pool area was! The staff was pretty amazing here too! Great Bar, awesome restaurant and perfect location (right in the middle of it all). Total recommend this hotel, it's a fancy/bougie spot in the middle of the laid back desert!
Love The Saint George, clean and well kept rooms and quiet also. Friendly staff , housekeepers and wait servers. Food is wonderful in either setting and drinks are top notch. Stayed at The Saint George three times now in a matter of just over a month for a total of ten night and would`nt stay anywhere else, neat place.
I recently stayed her for one night only. The hotel is nice, clean, hip and trendy. The only one of its kind in Marfa. I could see that when I walked inside my room the people on the room below will probably hear it. I was on the top floor (4th) so I didnt get to experience it from someone above. They had two pecan sweets waiting for us inside the room, that was a nice tough. No coffee maker inside the room and no complimentary coffee for guests at the Lobby, so that was a disappointment... For the fee you pay they should offer this. Will I stay again? Probably so, hopefully they offer complimentary coffee at that time.
Me and my fiancé had dinner at the restaurant inside st. George and I ordered the Mac and cheese with bacon which was delicious! Service was really good and has a nice atmosphere. Seat yourself in restaurant!
My husband and I eloped in Marfa this past weekend, and we stayed at the St George. Our suite was enormous. The amenities are top notch - gorgeous linens, Aesop products, Grohe bathroom fixtures. Lissa and her team were incredibly attentive to all of our needs, and I cannot say enough about Laventure - the hotel restaurant. For being as remote as Marfa is, I couldn’t believe how fresh and delicious the food was. This hotel is wonderful and we cannot wait to come back and celebrate our anniversary next year!
I was born in West Texas and have spent a good part of my life out here and so I know Marfa well. It gives Austin a run for its own form of....weird. In fact, we still come out every couple of years or so for a visit and to enjoy hiking the surrounding mountain ranges and for the fabulous local eateries. We had not yet had the opportunity to stay at Hotel St. George and because they are dog friendly...we decided to give them a try. I must say that you get exactly what you see in all the pictures. The exterior design of the building is perfectly suited for what Marfa is all about so I was already in love with that the minute I saw it. As we entered the front doors and as you know, first impression is everything!!! BAM! I was stopped dead in my tracks by a 60" TV right there, mostly in your face, just above the bar area broadcasting none other than CNN news. Yikes. Almost the first thing I see. Who the heck wants to come on vacation and arrive to have that channel screaming at you... 24 hours a day. That's not very welcoming, And you can imagine what kind of vibe it sets for the environment. We ate in the bar/dining area at least 3x during our stay and the space is so small...that that darn TV is just hard to ignore. I even heard a couple of other tables talking about it and wishing they would turn in off, Then another guest actually asked them if they could either switch it to something else or turn it off and they refused. I saw other people (no sure if they were guest or locals?) that would plant themselves in front of it and then use it to huff and puff themselves up into a frenzy. Projecting their stuff over every one else. Just a terrible vibe. And understand that because this is the only space in the hotel where you eat and drink, it's not easy to avoid the area. So like I said...disappointing. Please know...we loved our room. It was very comfortable. The food was outstanding. If I would change anything about it...I would either take the 2 giant TV's out all together or I would only allow sports events and maybe lots of Big Bend images, art shows, programming more suitable for such an amazing property. Leave your politics at home. That's what I was trying to do.
#1) You must go to Marfa #2) Stay at Hotel Saint George #3) Eat at Stellina The Hotel Saint George was fresh, comfortable and the staff was lovely. The rooms can be a little noisy (don't stay by the train side of the building), we heard footsteps overhead and super loud music coming from somewhere (thus 4 not 4). Otherwise a truly lovely experience.
pretty nice hipster-styled hotel - alle rooms nice and clean and NEW. we asked for rooms with one extra bed setup in each room when reserving - not present when we arrived - staff came up with inflateable beds that were REALLY bad.
