The downstairs drug store/restaurant was lovely! Beds were comfy, place was cool in the heat, communal area was wonderful place to relax. Enjoyed the older details of the place and the added perks of having extra staff, food, and gift shop items available downstairs.

Everyone was so nice, the beds were comfortable and the food was great.

Good place, nice ppl, overall an oasis in the middle of the desert area.

All around great place to stay. We will definitely return and stay again.

Total unique room. Lovely stay. Nice art. Good food downstairs but do not order chk fry steak. Not good. Great breakfast. Low prices.

It was very difficult for my daugher to use the stairs. The room was really nice but the bed was way too soft for my husband. I would recommend to people who can navigate stairs but not to people who have issues like we did. The service was excellent; staff very friendly. It just was not the property for us.

If you want to travel back in time, this is the place. This place great for a quick romantic getaway. Enjoyed our stay.

This is potentially a delightful, quirky, historic building with limited accommodation. The clerk who checked us in immediately soured our experience. She was abrupt, rude and unhelpful, as if doing us a favor. On the other hand the restaurant staff were outstanding - a complete contrast to checking in. It was two completely different experiences. The rooms are relatively expensive for what they are, but are probably reasonable for Fort Davis which has few options. We were told on check-in that we would have to purchase coffee in the morning, but when we went into the restaurant before departure they graciously provided us coffee.

There weren't very many hotel choices near McDonald Observatory. We stayed here 2 nights. It was nice for an old historic building. The floors were wood so they did creak a lot any time we walked. I think only 3 of the 6 rooms were booked both nights we were there, but we never heard anyone in the other rooms. The first morning, the water was cold in the shower, but the 2nd morning there was enough hot water. The restaurant is closed on Saturday so they left some pastries and juices in the refrigerator upstairs for the guests to eat. The cinnamon rolls are great. The fudge in the restaurant is great too!

Just a perfect stay. Felt like home, though it was a hotel. Full of character and the pancakes are amazing!
