Very original place and atmosphere! The surrounding was very nice and we had a magnificent view on the Petén Itzá lake every morning while taking the breakfast which was very pleasant! Above all, the staff was just amazing and they always did their best to help us during our stay. They were also so attentive and friendly to us that we felt more being with friends than in an hotel. Even our 2 years old baby had such great fun with them 😁 They really went out of their way for our family. I highly recommend!
Great place to stay if you’re going to Tikal, and looking for something more laid back than Flores. It’s also closer to Tikal than Flores. Palomino Ranch quickly became one of my favorite places I had stayed in my travels. My boyfriend and I fell in love with the town, and the landscape. The ranch is on a gorgeous lake, and they have a private dock you can go out and swim from. The staff were also great from start to finish. The horses are beautiful and very well taken care of. We got there late the first day, and they still let us go on a trail ride with one of their guides. The rooms are very nice, and air conditioned as well. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you guys for everything!
Loved my stay at Palomina Ranch Hotel. The staff were generous, kind and very accommodating, such excellent and friendly service. The horses are beautiful! They are well cared for, well trained and gentle. The ride into the nature reserve was stunning, definitely recommended. The food was healthy and delicious and they catered for my vegan diet. The accommodation is decorated in a quirky but sweet manner, very comfortable and the pool is great to cool off as well as the lake which is across the road. Good location. Overall a wonderful stay! If you are thinking about it, just treat yourself and book, definitely worth it!
Was going to the mayan hear festival and needed a room. I had booked another hotel but it was to far out and found this place. I am so glad I did. This place is located very close to main town. It has a beautiful pool and grounds. Yes it is a horse ranch. The rooms are clean and the manager Juanjo is such a great human being and shows it with how he treats the guest. We went horseback riding through the jungle and ended up at a beautiful lake which was amazing to swim in. The onsite restaurant has great food with a variety to choose from. I will be back to tikal and there is no other place I will stay other then there.
We chose to stop in El Remate because it was less expensive than Flores and it is also an excellent strategic location - 30 min to Flores, 30 min to Tikal and on the road to Belize, where we were going next. When we booked the hotel, we thought it was just a name, but it was an actual ranch! Beautiful horses, absolutely incredible grounds, flowers everywhere, nice pool, great food (we tried the fresh White Fish, that lives only in the Peten Itza lake). The rooms were very spacious and the bathroom was probably the biggest I've ever seen in a hotel. The stuff is super friendly, especially Juanjo, who spoke perfect English - we had great conversations about Maya. One of the nights we wanted to have some wine and they didn't have it there, but Juanjo went to town and bought it for us! We felt like family. They offer horse riding tours and jungle tours and it was so beautiful to walk to the end of the long dock right in front of the hotel and watch sunset. Truly magical place, I would stay there again in a heartbeat !
I love This hotel, the scene is Wow. The pool is small but nice. The best the horses. The have mayor 20 horses, but lovely horses. You could take a ride with them. The rooms are normal great. The tariff is good. Recommended for a fer days.
This review is coming from someone who has travelled to 60 countries on 6 continents. Palomino Ranch and beauty that sorrounds it are one of the most magical places in the world. Words will never be able to express how I felt here. The most kindest people, the most beautiful horses and the energy here is healing. I hope to come back here every year. I was crying when I left this place... This is a true treasure of Guatemala. I have left, but my soul remains there. I am actually thinking of changing my travel plans so I can come and stay here again. In Palomino Ranch I felt home, I felt at peace. This is not a hotel... this is a treasure. I am so grateful to have found it and so lucky to have been able to stay here. The food is delicious, the horse rides into the mountains to see Mayan sacred sites was an otherworldly experience, the rooms are spectacular, the grounds make you feel that you are living in your own movie. I am in Antigua now, but nothing will come close to this special place. This is definitely the best place in Guatemala. Stay here and experience, something that is authentic, unique and unforgettable. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Don Arturo and all the amazing staff, who work here.
We had a great time at Palomino. Palomino was very hospital to us, it is also a beautiful hotel with clean rooms and good food. It's a great hotel for visiting Tikal or surrounded lakes. There is a shuttlebus for the hotels in El Remate which will take 30 minutes to get to Tikal. The staff was spanish and as we speak no spanish we had a lot of contact with the owner of the hotel which speaks english. He was very helpfull and was constantly asking us if we needed help and trying to make our stay perfect. For example; we were playing volleyball in the pool, a day later the staff build a volleybalfield in the garden for us to play. Our last evening we were invited to see a horseshow. Even as a non-horselover it was nice to see. And afterwards the owner got us some beers and we had a nice talk.
This is a greats hotel with friendly staff and a friendly English speaking owner. There is a great pool and the hotel itself has a very friendly environment. There are a lot of nice horses that you can meet, along with a few fowls. The horse ride its self was relaxing and the horses were great. The owner also had 2 friendly dogs that you can play with if you wish. I would definitely recommend this place.
It all started booking the hotel which it said it was full and had to make my reservation since there was only one room available. Got there and only one person was staying there. The hotel is pretty but not so well taken care of, pool was clean but some tile was missing in it. Wifi only available in the dinning room so no Internet while in your room. I must say is very close to the public beach at El Remate and within walking distance to some restaurants and town. Rooms are nice and spacious with a working a/c.
