6/10 Probably if we would have stayed 2-3 nights instead of 7 everything would be perfect and we wouldn't notice several things. HOTEL - SERVICE, ROOM: Our visit started late at evening and we had very good administration experience with Elena who showed and explained for us a map, bus stations, taxi and even best shopping places for your interests! Room was clean to a good standart, we didn't new that "bath towel on the ground" will not work here, so we asked for clean towels by ourself. Hotel is noisy. And by noisy I mean that you can hear how people in other rooms (including upstair rooms) are opening waredrobe, using bathroom etc. Once again probably if we would have stayed there less we wouldn't pay attention to it. Opened to childrens and we were thinking that upstairs living a family with children who liked to jump most of the time. Room service is unpredictable, no one is knocking before coming to clean to check if someone is inside so your owns fault if you love to sleep till afternoon in your holiday. It wasn't a big issue for us since wer'e cleaning after ourself. Some rooms allow to smoke inside and I don't know was it from next doors or from where but you can feel smokes inside your non smoker room as well - Italians smoke everywhere even in museums so no big wonder on that. Beds.We ordered a double room which normally would have one double bed, right? In our room we had 3 single sized beds and from 2 of them were made a double bed. Large gap between our beds didn't allow us to sleep as close to each other like normally we do. So we tried to fix it with that 3rd beds sheets and still felt like we could hide a body in this gap. Didn't get a good night rest for a week... You can pay extra €20 for requesting a different bed, though. BREAKFAST: Breakfast each day was the same - bread (with a chance to toast it), butter, very few cheese and 2 kind of ham slices, 2 kind of pies (may be some vary by days), kellogs and yoghurt. Have to ask for coffee and tea which you can have only in the breakfast time (there isn't like a setted coffee table in a room with kettle). You can choose water, apple juice or some berry jam dring (wasnt a juice, like with a bits). No fruits or vegetables if you are a vegetarian, vegan or someone with intolerance for gluten ( luckily we don't mind for bread, kellogs, dairy or meat). At the beggining we thought that Italians don't eat breakfast at all... WI-FI, LANGUAGE AND OTHER THINGS Wi-fi signal overall was good.During these 7days we met 2 persons who could communicate in english very well, 2 understood what we were asking and 1 tried to understand and very helpful! Learned some italian phrases in these couple of days and we were good with things we had and service recieved. We were happy to see the wooden windows instead of clear curtains, so in the night and early morning was a pinch black in a room. Air con was a +++ for room since out there was +32'C with 0% humidity (beggining of september). If your'e in need you can use computer for free and print some tickets with an extra help of administration. In a waredrobe we had a litle safe were to hold our passports, money and other things with bigger value. We falled for a good price and pictures through BOOKING - bought without looking reviews, exact location, extra charges (exp. Parking place - €15/day) since it was a closest and cheapest opportunity to city centre.
It was easy to get the bus to and from Santa Maria Novella. The rooms were spotless and the breakfast garden was lovely. Staying in this neighbourhood also allowed us to discover two amazing restaurants nearby, and frequent the shops and market at Le Cure.
nice place in a fine neighborhood. 15 minutes by bus from city centre (be aware about bus timetable). the room is quite clean and the breakfast is good enough. the right accomodation if you want to save money and reach downtown in few minutes.
The place is part of an eco-tourism B&B chain. The rooms are spacious, clean and although basic (e.g. no telephone and wire hangers), they are nicely decorated. The bathroom is large and faultless and the bed is very comfortable. There is also wi-fi internet available to customers, free of charge. While the residence is not centrally located, the neighborhood looked safe and also pretty. The city center is close, about 5-10 minutes by bus and 20-25 minutes walking. The breakfast is included, however don't expect much, just the very basic cold "continental" style (e.g. no eggs, no bacon etc.). One thing that one should bear in mind is that the checkout is quite early (10:00-10:30 am). This is a recommended stay especially for a young couple or for a solo traveller.
Residenze La Mongolfiera is a truly lovely place to stay in. I booked two single rooms (no extra charges here for under occupancy). We actually stayed in two double rooms, they were clean, bright and airy. The place was in a lovely quiet area of Florence, 20 mins on the bus from Santa Maria Novella. (Bus stop just over the road). Breakfast on the terrace in the morning was a joy. Couldn't fault it at all. They e-mailed us beforehand to check our arrival time and nothing was too much trouble. Gave us lots of information about places to go etc. I would most definately stay there again.
I really liked the place. Our bathroom was big and it had a cozier feel than staying at a hotel. The hotel is hard to find initially. Even our cab driver's weren't entirely sure where it was. Luckily I printed out the map and address. You only have to take a bus to get to the center of Florence and the hotel will give you the information. The hotel offers a computer that you can use for free. We did eat at a restaurant around the hotel and I thought it served the best Risotto di mare (seafood risotto) that I've ever had! When we were there only the Father and Son spoke english. If you talk to the rest of the staff I would definitely brush up on your Italian or you can head to the bottom of the house to seek out the Father or Son.
We spent 3 days in Florence, the B&B is very difficult to find at first and it is really far from the central railwaystation. It takes us at least 30 min(one bus called B1 maybe, 5-6stops) to get to the city central. The bus station is not far away, 5 min on foot. The room is spaciou and bright, the surrouding is great(there is a river), the price is okay, we paid 75euro per day in April, but the location is inconvienent for traveller, so I won't stay there again.
We were looking for a getaway for the weekend and found the Mongolfiere to be perfect for this. I had searched the internet and basically had to decide between the Mongolfiere and a 4* hotel further away from the city. Somehow, the pictures and experiences of other travellers made me chose this hotel. Good decision. However, don't expect a 3 or 4* hotel with 24h service, lobby etc. Actually, it is a bed & breakfast, but probably as good as a B&B can get. It is conveniently situated in a quiet residential area, about 25mins (on foot) from the city centre. You may also want to use public transportation. The bus stop (Maffei) is a mere 50m away. The hotel is extremely charming with a beautiful garden, tasteful interior and very friendly staff. A great choice for a romantic weekend. We found the room to be impeccably clean, the bathroom was modern and all equipment was working just fine. One comment on noise: as the building is not well sound-proofed, depending on your neighbor you might have some noise. In our first night we had two love-bugs next door who really couldn't keep their lust under control, so we woke up after 1am waiting for them to calm down. Other than that, the hotel was quiet. Breakfast was served outside (summer), the buffet itself (with fresh fruit, croissants, toast, cake, corn-flakes and yoghurt) was of good variety, but otherwise not noteworthy. All in all we had our perfect weekend in Florence and La Mongolfiere and their helpful staff definitely contributed to this. A big thank you from Switzerland!
We stayed at the Mongolfiera for three nights and found it to be very satisfactory. The room was a good size, clean, and had a very fast acting air-conditioner. The service was excellent. Laura checked us in and gave us a map of Florence. She helped us with bus schedules and museum reservations, which was fantastic. We did not have a car, but the bus stop was very close to the B&B and we actually walked in to town on a number of occassions (about a 30 minute walk, but we found it enjoyable). We were thankful that we did not stay in town, as it would have been very noisy. The Mongolfiera was nice and quiet, even though we were on the first floor adjacent to the lobby. Check out was at 10:00 AM, but they hung on to our luggage in the morning while we did some last minute sight seeing. Overall, we had a great experience.
We had a very pleasant three days in Florence recently, and the Residenze La Mongolfiera made a wonderful home base. We got in very late, and our host Serverio met us and let us into the room, saying we'd deal with registration and paperwork in the morning. They have a private "garage" (more of a car port in US Parlance behind a locked gate) that we were allowed to park in. There's also a nice garden area with umbrellas and tables, just outside the breakfast room. Breakfast is pretty standard: strong coffee, cereal, ham, cheese, toast and juice. The neighborhood that La Mongolfiera is located in is about 2 KM from the Historic center of Florence, and is an easy walk. They also have bicycles available for rent. Extra amenities like satelite tv and network ports in all the rooms is a plus... there's also a computer in the breakfast room with a high speed internet connection available at no extra fee. The only complaints we had about Mongolfiera was the noise. The rooms all open into a central area where the reception desk is, and the breakfast room and kitchen are off that same area. Because of the wood floors and echoey nature of this central area we weren't really able to "sleep in" during our stay; we heard breakfast being prepared at 7 every morning, as well as people slamming doors and talking to the host at the reception desk. Similarly during the afternoons every closed door or footstep echoed through the house, and made napping difficult. That being said, however, we had a very pleasant stay and would recommend the Residenze La Mongolfiera to anyone visiting florence - it's less expensive than a hotel near the center and an easy walk or bus ride to get to all the attractions.
