Hilton Florence Metropole Hotel4.0 out of 5.0

A great Hilton hotel a short distance away from the busy tourist center of Florence. The Hotel is quite nice and the staff very accommodating. Our room had a view of the Doumo and the Florence skyline. We were offered free parking and wifi. Breakfast was offered at 15 Euros, if one so chose. As mentioned, they did offer a free shuttle to the center of Florence every 30 minutes, which is a nice feature for the tour groups staying at the Hotel. Our king room was comfortable, there is a movie theater and shopping center next door, which did get very busy in the evenings. The AC controls are a bit touchy and require multiple adjustments to get proper cooling. All in all, nice hotel for the price and the short stay in a beautiful city.
This place is another hidden gem. They run a shuttle about every hour and a half from the hotel to the central train station and back. From the central train station you can use The hop on hop off bus to get you to the major sites. Tremendously convenient and a good value. The hotel is well staffed and the people are helpful and friendly. Rooms are modern and clean. The breakfast buffet is great to start off the day with. The executive lounge has great views of the city.
Very nice hotel with elegant and very clean rooms and very nice and helpful staff. Although the hotel is far from the city center, yet the provided shuttle bus is very convenient and has many trips. The hotel also has its own private parking. The club lounge food verities are very limited and the club is closing early
We chose this hotel as a base for a week to visit not only Florence, but also Pisa, Arezzo, Lucca (all by train) and Siena (by bus). Hilton was chosen because I am an HHonors member and the free shuttle bus to the railway station persuaded us to use this particular hotel. First the positives. We used the shuttle bus every day and found it very useful and convenient - especially as all our excursions started from the railway station (train or bus). In contrast to other reviewers, we found it to be reliable and (usually) punctual. Our only (minor) issue was that the times of the return shuttles in the evening were (for us) not ideal - the gap between the last two (8.45 and 10.30pm) was, we thought, too large, and we would have preferred a service at 9.30. All the staff were polite and helpful, and service was excellent (as expected). We were upgraded to a deluxe room on the 12th floor with a fabulous view over the city to the Duomo and access to the Executive Lounge. Breakfast, in both the main restaurant and the Executive Lounge, was wide-ranging and generally of high standard (but see below). We dined at the hotel on three evenings (two, our first and last nights, were planned; the third was prompted by our getting caught in torrential rain and wanting to change before dinner!) The menu was extensive enough to allow us to try something different on every occasion and the food was excellent. Now for the negatives (only minor complaints, really). First a criticism of the shower in our room - there was no shelving on which to place toiletries, etc. (There was plenty of room, so this could easily be remedied.) There was also nowhere to hang towels, etc. in the bathroom. Secondly, there was a minor glitch with our reservation. Because of problems with our flight times, we had to add an extra day to our original booking. There appeared to be no capability to do this online, so I had to make a separate booking for the extra night. In spite of an email from Hilton Customer Services saying that there would be no problem and there would be a seamless joining of the two reservations, and in spite of mentioning this both at check-in and the night before our original reservation finished (and again twice being assured that there would be no problem), when we tried to enter our room for the final night, the key card would not work. This was rectified by a visit to Reception, but when we finally got into our room, we found it had not been serviced. Finally, the hot dishes at breakfast in the main restaurant were usually cold - mainly because the covers of the containers designed to keep them hot would not stay closed. (This problem did not apply to the Executive Lounge.) In conclusion, we enjoyed our seven-night stay at this hotel and found it to be extremely convenient for our plans (mainly because of the shuttle bus service).
It was a good stay overall. Rooms ard clean and decorated in a modern way. Breakfast was better than many European hotels. A bit more variety in cheese would be better of course. Hotel is 10 minutes away from city center by car and taxi takes 25 €. Around the hotel is residential area so almost nothing to do.
Have stayed here a lot of times. Was nice to be welcomed back as always! Very well looked after by everyone including Livia and Daniella at Breakfast, Silvia at Reception and Lorenzo in the lounge. Hotel is convenient for central Florence via the hotel shuttle bus, although this can be busy at times. Nice to see that some refurbishment has taken place since the last visit although this needs to continue. Only real disappointment is the slow shift from Italian breakfast to basically some kind of American breakfast. It would be nice to have more Italian local food available!
We are Hilton Diamond members and stayed one night here, and we were glad to have used points instead of paying for the hotel. We had an executive floor room with a city view. Average room, enough space with partially renovated bathroom. Very strange glass posted bed, seems like an accident waiting to happen! It was quite warm at night but after asking twice, they were nice enough to give us a fan. We had a bad experience where we tried to go to the spa area before they closed but a woman rudely locked the door in front of us and refused to let us in, storming off out of the area. It really left a bad impression. The front desk staff were very apologetic about it and wrote a nice note with a bottle of wine to the room. Fitness center was small but clean and open 24 hours. We missed the happy hour but breakfast on the rooftop lounge was very nice. Shuttle was on time and enough space for all who would rather not drive into town. It drops off at the train station, within a manageable walking distance to most areas. We did take a taxi back at night for 20 Euros, well worth the quicker trip. Overall would recommended as a good value, but would stay closer to Florence next trip to do more sightseeing.
Leaking toilet, black slime in corners, shower door would not seal, water everywhere, room service denied an hour before closing, AC intake vent had a bath towel (nasty!) inside of it rather than a proper filter, furniture was scratched and worn, no airport shuttle. I could go on but you get the idea. I'm a Honors Diamond and have stayed at Hilton properties for many years and this was the worst. It was like a 3rd world version of Hilton!
This hotel was built in 2004 but it is classic1970's retro chic! Urgently needs refurbishment from its white PVC seats and average room decor. A Hilton Honors deal brought us here but I can't recommend it. Restaurant is poor with a sad menu choice, I did wonder why I was only one of three couples in there, then I experienced the food. So in summary 'absolutely average' and not one of Hilton's finest.
Very good Hilton, nice facilities, and an excellent view from most rooms. The panoramic view really is terrific from the executive lounge. However, it is quite a bit outside the city so you are reliant on a shuttle bus (free for guests) or taxi (about 15 euro) to get to Florence. The shuttle bus leaves every 90 minutes or so. If you know this in advance and can work around the shuttle schedule, great. Otherwise, it is not very convenient. Not many options for dining nearby outside of the hotel.
