Hilton Florence Metropole Hotel4.0 out of 5.0

Stayed here for one night to visit Florence. I didn't want to risk driving into the city centre and risk trashing my brand new hire car so chose this hotel as it offered free parking and a free shuttle into town. Sadly the latter was actually chargeable but we managed to get it for free when we pointed out that the Hilton website had not been updated to show that the shuttle cost €5 per person. The hotel was clean and the room comfortable if a little dated and in need of some refurbishment. The breakfast which had been included in our room rate (although that again took some convincing as the reception staff believed otherwise) was good quality and served in clean, pleasant surroundings. There's not much close-by so probably not a great choice if you don't have a car or are reliant on public transport.
I was in Florence for only a quick overnight stay. While the Hilton Florence Metropole is situated outside the main city attractions, it is in a good place relative to the airport, which is why I decided to stay as opposed to elsewhere in the city. I was on a fairly strict schedule that did not align with the hotel's offered shuttle service (it costs €5 once) so I was stuck utilizing taxi cabs, which was not the cheapest way to get around the city at all. Overall I found the hotel to be a very nice property. Upon arrival the front desk informed me of an upgrade to a suite (from a standard room), along with access to the executive lounge. The suite was very spacious although lacking in furniture, which I found a bit odd. The executive lounge was very quiet when I visited and had a poor selection of food and drink items throughout the entire day. My only real issue with the property was the wifi not connecting at all in the fitness center. The fitness center is located in the basement resulting in no cellular service, and no wifi connection. The good: -nice upgrade and nice suite -breakfast was good -fast wifi (when it connected) -excellent front desk service (I believe his name was Max at the front desk) The less good: -location is far from the city center -shuttle schedule could be more frequent -wifi in fitness center did not work at all -executive lounge could have better selection
During check-in due to the status of diamond, I was upgraded to an Executive Room with a view of Florence. Service at the reception very nice and professional. Room nicely decorated, with a comfortable bed and well cleaned. Happy hours between 6 P.M and 8 P.M. Unfortunately, the choice of dishes was very limited and there was still something missing. It was the same with drinks, not enough, you had to ask for service every now and then. One of the weaker lounges I've seen in the Hilton around the world. Breakfast in the salon was very poor, the restaurant was better, but there was not much choice and there was still something missing. Coffee was very poor, and this should not happen in Italy. The hotel offers transport to the center of Florence, which costs 5 Euro per room. In summary: good rooms, poor food.
My husband & I are Hilton Diamond Members and exclusively stay at only Hilton Hotels around the world when they are available in the location we are visiting. I highly recommend you DO NOT stay at this Hilton. We encountered MAJOR PROBLEMS from the beginning of our stay until checkout. AC did not work, shower had visible mold growing in it, shower leaked so badly we had to put towels down on floor to stop leaking, sink leaked, toilet seat was broken, no daily complimentary bottles of water restocked daily to our rooms, every night we returned to the hotel our room keys did not work so we would have to stand in long lines to get our room keys re-activated along with 1/2 of the hotel guests, our room keys were supposed to work in the Executive Lounge but NEVER did. Oh and the blow dryer took forever to dry my hair because it’s one of those super small hairdryers and smelled like fire the whole time I used it. This Hilton Hotel is a sorry excuse for a Hilton and needs major updating and maintenance issues. Our room was extremely Hot without AC! This Hotel is Awful and DO NOT STAY HERE!!
There was front desk staff available for checking and departure and little else. We are diamond, the hotel had no upgrades to offer. Executive lounge was nice but not well stocked with water of snacks. The hotel is about a 20 min ride to the city. They offer a bus about 8 x a day each way. It lets off at the bus station. It seems to be a good hotel for a conference but would not recommend it for someone visiting the city.
This hotel had everything you need except for location, BUT with the hotel providing a shuttle service (Charter Bus) to the downtown area location was not a problem. Room was spacious compared to other hotels, beautiful bathroom with tub/shower combo. Very clean. Wouldn't recommend to those with small children because everything was glass at least in the room we stayed in. Glass doors, glass desk...just a thought. The hotel does offer breakfast and has a fitness room. Great for a weekend stay or even extended stay. Pictures show view from our room on the 12th floor. (1216)
The hotel & hotel staff are all very nice and we did enjoy our stay here. That being said, if you are looking to do a lot of sight-seeing in Florence I don’t really recommend this hotel. The complimentary shuttle service runs fairly infrequently and therefore rendered it essentially useless to us. It’s a 20+ euro taxi ride anywhere you might want to go. If you have the time to wait for the shuttles, or aren’t in town for sight-seeing, then disregard my review and stay here. Otherwise I would recommend something closer to the city center.
The hotel is not close to downtown Florence but there is a very convenient shuttle bus that drives there almost hourly and stops at the main train station. The staff is extremely helpful and courteous. I would definitely stay here again.
Nice hotel - Has an executive lounge open until 8pm on weekdays which is great for us Gold or Platinum members. Close to the Florence airport - Not very close to the city center but they offer a regular shuttle service to and from the train station that is in the city center - You just need to coordinate your travel plans with the shuttle schedule. The one thing this hotel needs to improve on is describing to travelers where the shuttle pick up is. They tell you that it is "at the end of rail line 16" and the color of the shuttle bus. That is not enough information. A better description of the shuttle pick up is it is behind the train station where other buses pick up and drop off. Walk to the street behind the train station. (That is the opposite direction of the signs directing you to the city center.) Stand near the city bus covered bench. It is not well lit. There are no hotel shuttle signs. The only signs are about bus stops/bus tours. All types of buses (tour buses, city buses, etc.) pick up and drop off in this area. The shuttle bus is a full sized bus with a paper sign in the front window saying "Hilton Florence Metropole" - not a small shuttle like we are used to seeing in the states. I hope this information helps someone. :)
I have stayed in Hilton Florence Metropole several times while visiting the city on business. It has a very nice executive lounge. People working in the hotel are always nice and helpful - one of the friendliest hotels in Hilton channel that I have visited (and I am a Diamond member so I stay there a lot). The hotel has a very convenient shuttle to and from the city - a comfortable bus that saves you the pain of looking for a parking spot and runs by 10 pm so you could go to dinner and still return. It is close enough to airport to avoid long delays. All rooms I stayed in were very clean and comfortable. Happy to recommend for both business and vacation stays unless you want to be right in the center of the city.
