Hilton Florence Metropole Hotel4.0 out of 5.0

We stayed here one night, staff was nice and accomodating, room was clean. The shuttle will take you to the center of the city, which is super helpful. Lounge was ok, I've definitely been to hiltons with better executive accomodations. The rooms are small, but good for a night if you're spending a day exploring Florence.
We happened upon the Hilton Florence Metropole after we were booked there by KLM after a canceled flight (due to a last-minute Italian ground crew strike). Candidly, the hotel was much better than I thought we would get under the circumstances, starting with the front desk service, which was wonderful. They acknowledged our situation and went out of their way to accommodate us including breakfast bags very early the next morning as we left the hotel. We weren't very impressed by the limited lunch we were offered upon arrival, but that may have been a function of the fact that a lot of us were booked at the hotel at that last minute. Our room as clean and reasonably comfortable and the location (close to the airport) was perfect for us.
Lovely hotel on the outskirts of Florence, good location to get into the city on the free bus service and a taxi back cost us about 25 Euros. The room was lovely and clean and had a good view of the city, no complaints there. Free parking for our rental car was also a nice bonus. Staff were very friendly and offered us free WiFi as we were on a business trip. Downside: the breakfast was rubbish. The hot food, inc sausages and scrambled eggs, was really not nice at all. We left it and went into Florence in search of something better.
The hotel is not in the best of areas, there is a cinema complex next door which has a few poor quality restaurants and not much else. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, the public areas are very nice, but the real disappointment is when you get to your room. They really need remodelling or at least some maintenance. The bath was mouldy and badly chipped and every time I had a shower the floor was flooded. The restaurant was fine for breakfast but the only evening meal we had was very disappointing. Certainly not the best Hilton we have ever stayed in, but not the worst. There are many better hotels in Florence.
We stayed here due to an early flight out of Florence the next morning. We thought that spending a little more for our last night would be perfect and looked for something with a whirlpool, etc. The place itself was clean and modern with very nice English speaking staff. Lots of great modern conveniences and the whirlpool was amazing. Now for the not so good. First you kinda are in the middle of nowhere...there is a mall right next door but the food venues are horrible and lots of teens standing around smoking. The food at the hotel was very over priced and the "Classic Hilton Burger" at 16 euro was a joke...actually terrible worst burger I have ever had. Then we needed to get to the airport by 5am...they asked if we wanted a wake up call and I said sure even though I don't have trouble getting up....they also said they would have a light breakfast box at our door before we left....Neither happened!!!! Luckily we were up and ready to go.
Two trips a day into the city centre equated to two hours travel time on the hotel shuttle bus.Otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hilton Metrepole.Lovely hotel with excellent facilities. The spa and the gym well worth a visit.Breakfast was okay and the restaurant staff pleasant and attentive. We had our evening meal there on our night of arrival and also on ourcthird night.Impressive rib eye steaks. The bedroom was comfortable and spotlessly clean.Attended to every day.We were regularly left complimentary water.Front desk were helpful at all times.
If you are the travellers who look for city atmosphere and night life, please stay away from this hotel. It is located out of town even it has a shuttle bus, it might not be a good choice to waste your time for transportation during peak hours. However, the hotel is good, the facilities is awesome. Fitness center opens 24 hrs. It closes to entertainment center by the way so you could find something to do. The room is big, clean and nice. All in all, this hotel doesnt reach up to Hilton's normal standard.
I've stayed here many times. I thought this stay was probably one of the worst. I (and an associate in another room) thought the cleanliness has dropped a few notch's. Mold in shower area and a general smell in the room. I work hard to attain Diamond status so I can use a lounge. The Executive lounge food here has also suffered a decline in quality and options. The staff as always is a "10" . The free shuttle is a real perk that I hope they never get rid of. Yes the hotel is out a ways, but this van makes all the difference. Everyone works hard and is very friendly. The hotel needs to start an upgrade to it's decor.
This is the second time I stayed at this hotel when in Florence. The hotel staff are outstanding. A special thank you goes to Alberto. He was very professional and friendly and helped make a dinner reservation on a busy Friday night. The next day he was very friendly and knew my name. His associate, Lucca, was also helpful with cab directions. The room was nice and the breakfast was beautiful. Staff there were over the top friendly as well.
This hotel is very nice, clean, comfortable. Pleasant staff. Location is not convenient. Free Shuttle service is helpful, but to big of the intervals between rides...Take too long to get to the city center, lots of traffic
