Good place for the price; Clean sparse and basic old style comfortable rooms. Very friendly and helpful daytime staff. Free Wi-fi a plus; AC is ok but not blasting. So not the place if you need good AC in the summer. Breakfast is nice. Very quiet neighborhood across the Arno from center city Short walk to Pitti Palace, Ponte Vecchio. Lovely small not as touristy shops nearby.

The structure is an old cloister with a preserved chapel with stained glass and fresco painting However it feels very dated and mediocre The hotel is a 10 minutes walk to the city centre Breakfast was very basic Parking was more expensive than advertised

Don't expect 5 stars hotel or luxury one. This hotel is an old coven, clean but melted lol You'll find calm and mosquitos all around. (Use the electric plugs). Breakfast is ok This time was my third time at, At the first floor their is a limited access, I did have enough time and ask what it is in there ;) You can make everything by walk in Florence. Price are around 116€ even 2 days before Hope you will enjoy ;)

Stayed here one night with a group of 30. Room and bathroom were in serious need of updating but the grounds were pretty and there was an amazing fresco in one of the meeting rooms. Dinner was fair. Our air conditioner didn't work. There was a large party in the courtyard below our window that evening. Room was very dark. Would not choose to go back on our own but served the purpose fine.

This is serious barebones accommodations, though, gives one insight into the history of the monastery and travelers from hundreds of years ago. .The room and bathroom were clean, however, the mattress a bit lacking. We had a slight mosquito issue, which was quickly resolved. The common areas were nicely laid out and accessible. It is a short walk into the city or to shops nearby.

We stayed here for three nights and by the morning of the third we couldn't wait to leave. The location is decent, you can really walk anywhere in Florence and this is no exception even though it's further from the city center. The windows had been open when we arrived which I appreciated, but there were no screens and therefore several mosquitos got in. We did keep the windows open in the evening the rest of our stay because when we turned on the air conditioner it smelled. Unfortunately we would then wake up with ample mosquito bites. Not what you're looking for when staying in Florence. The breakfast is probably comparable to other places but very basic. Yogurt, cheese, cold cuts, and croissants. Unless you get lost like we did you don't get to see the beautiful stained glass windows and frescos in the church. This hotel boasts about the beauty and history but you don't experience that just staying as a guest. I felt a bit swindled and very disappointed. We would not stay here again. Albeit it was clean, the staff were friendly, and the Wifi was decent.

The room was basic. The morning breakfast is nice and a good way to start the day. The place is closer to bus stops. Its also closer to the Pitti palace and Boboli gardens. Easier to get to the city central by walk from here.

This is an odd place to review. Once a monastery as many have said in there reviews, and still connected to a chapel/church externally. Sometimes it still feels (or rather, looks) like one. It does not feel like a hotel - possibly more like a large boarding house or a more formal version of a backpackers (i.e. with rooms). Don't dismiss it though... read on: All in all this is somewhere you can go on a budget, and if you are not planning to spend too much time in your room. It is a great starting point for exploring Florence. Easy walking distance to the 'tourist' part of town, you get a sense that you are 'living' in the city rather than visiting. What you will get: - vey clean bed linen and changed often (more than some expensive hotels) - a clean room (but generally small and basic - see below) - a TV (but only Italian options) - decent wifi (free) - one of the smallest lifts / elevators I have ever been in - breakfast if you include it in you booking (I didn't) What you won't get: - Iron or kettle/tea/coffee facilities in room (not allowed by Italian law apparently) - Laundry service (you can pop out and use any of a few laundries close by - they can be expensive) - place for dinner - place for lunch - room service - business centre - in-room luxuries - etc etc (you get the idea....) You decide.

Stayed here for a conference held at the same venue. As has been noted in other reviews, this is a unique place, reminiscent of an old school boarding house rather than a modern hotel. Walking down the long corridor, I kept looking over my shoulder, expecting a stern House Master telling me off for making too much noise. If you are looking for a romantic getaway with your partner, this is not the place! The old style spartan furnishings contribute to this feeling. The double room had two beds, small bedside cupboard and a small wardrobe. It was clean. I missed a small bar fridge, as it would have been nice to keep drinks cool in the warm weather, as well as my purchased breakfast supplies. My room faced the inner courtyard, and was quiet, and I was able to keep the windows open overnight. Other guests with rooms facing the street complained of traffic noise. The bathroom was large, although other guests with rooms facing the street complained of very small showers and bathrooms. The breakfast left much to be desired – mainly sugary sweet things. We missed eggs, real juice, fruit, wholemeal bread, plain jogurt, and a better selection of sliced meats. We asked whether it was possible to provide some fruit, but this could not be done. Abandoning the Convitto breakfast, the local Carrefour supermarket provided us with a much nicer alternative non-sugary breakfast. As for location, the Convitto is situated next to the Porta Romana. It is a 15-20 minute walk to Ponte Vecchio, although you could also catch the bus that stops right outside the Convitto. If you are wishing to do a lot of sightseeing there are probably more convenient places to stay closer to the centre. There is a parking lot next door, although the daily fee seemed oddly expensive. The staff was friendly but formal, and “followed the rules” rather than provided a personalised service. In summary, I would probably look for somewhere else to stay next time.

This hotel is an old monastery and as such offers a calm and serene atmosphere, perfect for visiting the higly historical city that is Florence. The convitto doens't offer 5 star hotel facilities, but you'll still find it quite comfortable for a short stay. It's very close to the city center and the main attractions, you won't even have to take the bus. Although here is no restaurant, nor a bar in the hotel and the rooms don't even have minibars, you can find a variety of authentic italian restaurants in the vicinity.
