We stayed one night here because we wanted to stay near the train station and this street is an easy walk from the station and also into the old town. There are many small hotels on the street to be found on Hotels.com so did not commit until we had seen the room. The room had a private bath, free wifi, was clean and quiet. We did not do the terrace as we did not know about it until after. The staff did not speak much English but this was no problem because we got city maps and information at the train station so really only inquired about the room. The weather was such that we did not need to open the windows so no mosquito problem. We were given a cash discount so was less money than posted on internet. We would stay here again but after reading other reviews would ask to see the room prior. There is a sister hotel Annabella in the same building run by the same people which was comparable.
The location of Hotel Bijou is great (a five minute walk from Santa Maria Novella train station and right in the city center), but a majority of the staff is horrible. I think it's run by a mother and son, both of whom are not very friendly. When my brother and I arrived they only had us down for two nights (we were staying three), they barely spoke English (which is fine, but like I said, their tone was very unfriendly), and they offered zero information about the hotel/surrounding area. We barely slept the first night because our room was infested with mosquitoes and we had to return the key to the front desk every time we left which was super inconvenient (I would have minded this less if they weren't, again, so unfriendly). Oh and there was dried blood on my bed sheets!!! When we would walk by the (we think) son on our way out in the mornings, he wouldn't even look up from the desk after we said "Ciao!" Would never recommend. Would never stay again.
First good thing: - Very close to train station and city center. Everything is within walking distance - Not the hotel itself but the neighbouring hotel which you can use amenities have a really good terrace. And now real life: - Terrible way of running a hotel, both owners and employees. I did my reservation from a major website, they canceled my reservation saying my credit card was declined to take an authority between me and them. I had 4 hours to get the mail and respond, in a foreign country-which I obviously failed- and later I paid with the ''declined'' credit card. They also insisted I had to pay with cash, since they reserved the room for me anyway. - Lots of lots of mosquitos, even in September. Nothing against them. - Last night they wanted us to pay the city tax, and in an argument they told us ''you can call the police if you like'' so there is definitely 'my way or high way' policy in this hotel. - Shared bathroom could fail the hygiene requirements sometimes but this is more about the customer pool of the hotel
Staff are very kind and friendly, this hotel is located inside the historical city center. They serve a very good breakfast. Room was spacious, clean and equipped with balcony. Dog friendly hotel. The cheapest public garage is next to Fortezza da Basso: the other one, next to Santa Maria Novella church, is very expensive. The rooms are on third floor, there's an elevator. The rooftop terrace is a marvel: if you like city views, don't miss it! You can smoke there, inside you can't. We would definitely return to this hotel.
We stayed there for 4 nights with our 2 daughters and was so comfortable. The room was very cozy with all the comforts, including a nice balcony: everything at a very cheap price! The breakfast was very good as well: there's also the possibility to have it on a marvellous panoramic terrace on the roof. The hotel is easy to find and very close to the central train station (only 3 minute walk).
Only a 2 minute walk from Florence's central train station (Firenze SMN), it is a very nice low budget hotel. We were greeted by a warm concierge every morning who served an excellent buffet breakfast. Florence is a fantastic and charming city and everything is within walking distance so this hotel is very close to the station and even closer to the famous cathedral: all that made it a perfect stay in Florence!
We had a great stay at Hotel Bijou. The staff were very kind and friendly, the rooms were large and clean. It is very near the main train station and within walking distance to museums and stores. Some tasty restaurants nearby. The rooftop terrace is AMAZING: DO NOT MISS IT! No hesitations in recommending!
The hotel is excellent, rooms are large and everything is good, clean and nice, also the room rate is very cheap. The breakfast is also very good and all the staff are very nice and kind:PERFECT SERVICE! The rooftop terrace is SPECTACULAR: take a look. I would go back again.
The room itself was ok, wifi was 2euros which they didn't specify and we weren't allowed to control the air conditioning which left us freezing in the middle of the night. But worth it for the convenient location. The man at the desk, however, was rude, unhappy to serve us, and outright angry when I requested to print my boarding pass (there is a sign saying they can do this, and a different man had told me earlier to email my pass to their printer and it would be no problem). I was given incorrect directions to an internet café and when I returned- because he said he could print it in 20 min if I'd wanted to wait- he yelled at me for returning and shut the door in my face. Appalling.
A roper guided me to the hotel from the train station promising inexpensive but clean accommodations. The room was very large with a high ceiling and balcony. The staff didn't speak much English and seemed to scream a lot at each other and at the customers in a non-threatening, almost friendly manner. The staff seems to smoke a lot and they looked like they were disappointed that they had to be there. I'm not sure what happened but they got in some kind of hassle with my travel companion and we were thrown out with threats to call the police. Overall I would say the experience was just ok.
