A very basic hotel with an excellent restaurant and very helpful staff. 20 mins away from Florence catch the T1 into the city. We liked the hotel but its very old fashioned and may not appeal to everyone. Excellent value for money.

For one night it’s ok!

Hotel Alex was just, ok! The staff were fine! Good for the one night we stayed there, but I wouldn’t enjoy any longer than that! It was in need of refurbishment, the shower/bathroom was a bit old and the WiFi was non existent! The breakfast wasn’t anything special, but not too bad! The location is decent, only a short walk from the tram station and about 10-15 minutes away from the very busy centre of Florence.. For one night, the Alex hotel is adequate but I would look elsewhere for anything longer. The facilities and the old look let this place down!

Good service, terrible wifi and noisy mornings

The good - * Clean and tidy rooms * Friendly and helpful staff (allowed us to eat breakfast after it had closed at 10am) * Decent air con in room * Mostly comfy bed (some might find matress a bit hard) * 24 hour reception * Elevator access to upstairs rooms (you won't get more than 2 people in at a time though) The bad - * Tiny rooms, if you have arms and legs you will struggle in the bathroom/shower * 3rd world country quality wifi * No TV reception whatsoever * No safe in room to store valuables * Pretty average breakfast * Nothing around the hotel in local area, closest restaurant is maccas but it ain't cheap (there is atleast a tram stop close by which takes you into city) * Noise seems to reverberate through the hotel, mornings were horrible with people closing doors and moving around downstairs in the restaurant area (I think our room was directly above it) * Power points are for what ever reason different, our European adapters which have worked fine in several other countries/hotels didnt fit (had to remove a separate adapter from the bathroom which the hair dryer was connected to)

The hotel is located close to the train stop, just 2 minutes walking. The breakfast was good, the only complaint is the WiFi, it was on and off.

2nd time here excellent.

The Hotel Alex is in the best position how ever you arrive we travelled by car and there is secure parking on site at 5 euro per day.200 meters from the hotel you can catch the tram into florence a day ticket is only 5 euro.The Hotel is clean and the beds are nice and comfy,the breakfast is a varied one with fruit,ham,cheese,yogurt,cereal,croissants varied ect the restaurant does good food and the price we thought for a hotel was reasonable we had the ,steak,pasta,fish and was all excellent ,also the staff went out of there way to be helpful i would highly recomend hotel alex for a good stay in Florence.

Our stay at Hotel Alex Firenze

My first thought about the hotel was that it was quite far from the centre. I realised that it actually wasn't that far, it was just because it was part of our long journey from Pisa airport. The hotel is just about 10 or 15 minutes tram ride from the centre. The hotel room was nice and clean with a nice spacious bathroom. My only negative point I would like make is about the breakfast. There wasn't much choice, especially healthy options. There was some cereal, a large selection of bread, croissants and cake. There wasn't any dried or canned fruit or anything like sliced melon. The only fruit was a bowl of apples and oranges.

Hotel Alex

My wife and I found the Hotel to be clean. All staff from reception to the restaurant area, and 'domestic staff' were all helpful and friendly. Food cooked and prepared was excellent. The location of the Hotel I relation to the Centre of Florence would not have been better - we were close the Federiga Tram stop which resulted in a 15 minutes ride tothe centre. All in all we were comfortable and felt welcome.
