Very cheap hotel in a good area

You do, unfortunately, get what you pay for. This hotel is managed by an older couple who does not speak English very well at all. It made checking in and checking out very difficult. While the staff is very kind, the property itself is quite awful. The light in the room is a very unflattering fluorescent white. The windows don't close all the way, so mosquitoes did get in and it got quite chilly overnight. The bed is not comfortable and lined with a plastic wrap under the bed sheets, which feels odd. The room smelled of smoke. The towels were given during check in and they were torn up and tattered. The shampoo doubles as soap and was completely watered down. The building itself is not listed at the correct location on Google, so when navigating be extra careful to use the actual address, not by searching "Barbara House" on any map service. And most importantly, at this hotel, you cannot use regular European power converters, which work at many other Italian hotels!!! You MUST have the Italian converter for anything you want to plug in! This hotel is certainly not a five star hotel, no matter what Expedia says (I have no idea how it got that rating, must be an error). I would consider this a one star hotel (do they go lower?) by American standards. The price and location do, however, make this hotel a considerable option for Florence, despite all the criticism given because it is a very cheap stay in a very walkable area.

The old couple was very kind to us and attended to all our needs. Location is amazing.

Good location

Hotel is incredibly difficult to locate, no signage. The room was small, shabby and not like the pictures. We had our own bathroom, however the bathroom and shower were tiny and the shower curtain useless, so the whole bathroom was under water ever time you had a shower. Beware Mosquitos!

Really did not like this hotel. Rundown, dirty, smokey (even though it was a smoke free room, there was smoking in the building.) The woman who owned it seemed sweet in helpful, but spoke little English. Definitely wish I had stayed somewhere else. Hostel would have been better.

Well positioned for City centre and station

Very noisy, had room to front of hotel. No double glazing. Hardly any English spoken. Room lacking in facilities, not a bit like photos on website, very tired. Shared both room dirty and mouldy.

Good location, but not the nicest

Liked the location (very close to Firenze SMN and attractions) but the rooms were a little dated and (shared) bathroom pretty gross. The shower was awful and wouldn't stay hot or cold. Also keep in mind the owners do not speak English at all, which is perfectly fine - although they did not get that we didn't speak Italian, so they just kept yelling the same things at us louder and louder. Kind of amusing, but we managed.

Perfect location

The location was perfect for seeing the sites and shopping at the markets. The room was a bit noisy at night but this is to be expected if staying in the heart of Florence. The room was spacious; however the shower was more often cold than hot. This problem may only have been related to our room though.

We found the hotel very easy. It is near a lot of stores. We had a supermarket and one euro stores too. The lady in charge of the place was very friendly.

The lady that runs the place is just the sweetest! We had AC which was a huge plus, we also got our own bathroom. I found toiletries from the previous guest so that was questionable but we had a good couple nights there.

The owner is very helpful and nice

It's a hotel with very reasonable price. Good location. The owner can't speak English but understand Eng. No problem in communication. She always tried her best to help us. She was very helpful. We are appreciated. Highly recommended if you are looking for the budget hotel.

Beware!

The guest house is run by an old couple. The organisation is a complete chaos, as the owners cannot/do not check their emails. It is horribly dirty. The bed linen were not changed after the previous occupants or not properly washed (full of hair). The ceiling light came of the ceiling. The towels in the bathroom had grey shades. It was the most disgusting place I ever stayed in.

Vergogna!

Accoglienza, servizi, pulizia e condizioni della struttura pessime! Proprietari scortesi e poco educati. Bagno in comune sporco all'arrivo e mai pulito per tre giorni. Pubblicizzato come B&B invece è un'affitta camere dove il rapporto qualità prezzo è decisamente inadeguato. Unica nota positiva la posizione centralissima a due passi dalla stazione e dal centro. Sconsigliatissimo!!!
