This was such a clean comfortable place to stay. Lovely views and comfortable accommodation. There were 4 of us so had twin room. Really worked well- gave you privacy but you were together. Would be a great place for families.
After a road trip up from Invercargill we arrived early to the holiday park & were able to check in. The young man behind the desk was very friendly and gave us great directions to find our room. We opened the door and were greeted by a very cosy and warm room. It had everything we needed for an enjoyable weekend away.
We recently spent one night camped in a powered bay with our Maui camper. We loved the amenities. The heated bathrooms were a god send in the midst of the chilly winter. The communal kitchen was impeccably clean. The location was stunning - waking up to a view of the lake was such a wonderful way to start our trip. Whilst we loved our stay in other spots, this one was a highlight for us. Thanks for offering such a beautiful place for us to stay!
The holiday park is located at the quieter end of the Lake and the view of the mountain and lake was stunning. The rooms are spotless, tastefully furnished and a well-equipped kitchen. We were also impressed by the wheelchair accessible studio-family room which accommodated a family of 8 for breakfast really well. Value for money and well worth a return trip.
Stayed here over long weekend, room was a great size with a fantastically comfy kingsize bed, spotlessly clean & a lovely few over the lake with incredibly helpful & friendly owners . Would highly recommend staying here
Great, new looking accommodation. The bedding was comfortable and sufficient - we were there beginning of winter so it was minus degrees outside. Their online price differed from the front desk but they honored the cheaper price which was nice. The shared facilities were great - clean, well stocked. The only con was the heater in our cabin had a very bright blue light that couldn't be covered that lit the whole room up - it heated the room really well but I eventually turned it off as the light continuously woke me up.
This place was really interesting for us as we've only stayed in hotels. It was great having a kitchen as well as the communal kitchen to use. Everything was very clean and peaceful. The view is outstanding! Wow, I couldn't tear myself away! The only word of caution is to check carefully about the specifications of the room you are booking. We were impressed at how well-priced this property was in light of the good reviews, but when we arrived, we quickly discovered why: There was no bathroom in our room! It had the oven, stove, and beds for four, but no bathroom at all! It didn't occur us to check that beforehand, so we ended up paying 50% more for a room with a bathroom and no oven. But the view certainly made up for it and we were able to use the very clean and always empty communal kitchen for the oven.
Check-in was easy, staff was great. We had the Marakura Deluxe Family Motel room and it was really good for our family of 4. Plenty of room, very clean and fresh. Would definitely recommend and stay here again.
I stayed at Lakeview multiple times in between walking the Routeburn, Kepler and the Hollyford tracks - it was easy to arrive with a tent and find a spot (rooms require booking further ahead). The site is opposite the DOC office where a number of shuttles leave from, and they share the same office building as TrackNet which is awesome if you are using TrackNet's shuttle service for hiking. It's about a 10 minute walk into town. The facilities are great, particularly the drying room and locker facilities, although the lounge area can get pretty crowded when it's raining. Note that you need to bring your own cooking and eating utensils for the kitchen. The staff deserve a special thanks from me - I dislocated my elbow on the Hollyford Track and ended up in Invercargill Hospital instead of Te Anau which was obviously not my Plan A. They were super helpful - liaised with the helicopter crew who'd flown me out to get all my gear in one place (I'd left some in the Holiday Park lockers and some in the helicopter), and arranged for pick up by my parents who happened to be coming through a few days later. Really appreciated the friendliness in the midst of chaos. Would totally come and stay again.
We stayed here one night while on the way to Milford Sound. Check-in was easy. I wasn't expecting the park to be as big as it was, but we eventually made our way to the room thanks to the help of the map provided. We stayed in room 8, the two bedroom apartment in the Marakura Motels. The room was nice and warm when we entered, and there was milk in the fridge. The beds were comfy, but the pillows were a bit too firm for my liking. The couch was quite comfy as well. The balcony gave lovely views of the lake both at sunset and sunrise. The shower was a bit underwhelming, but did the job. Though not in the town centre, it's still very close and can be walked to. Would stay again.
