Grand Central Hotel & Spa

We have stayed here twice and both times were good. Rooms are clean and it's a convenient location to Spring Street and the action in Eureka Springs. On site parking is good since a lot of hotels in this town do not offer that option. Park and walk everywhere in the general vicinity. On site restaurant also, if you don't want to leave the hotel. Victorian ambiance and competitive room rates make it a good choice.

Will definitely stay here again. Very friendly folks working here. Location is fantastic. No need to drive to anything within the downtown area. Plenty to explore for a long weekend. I had a excellent king bed on the first floor. Fridge, microwave, hairdryer included. Enjoy!

We have stayed at the Grand Central many times. On the plus side at least for us, it is a historic building in an atmospheric Victorian town with cool stuff always going on. This was our second time during Diversity weekend which we loved. On the down side, the rooms are dowdy looking with jimmy rigged repairs, old linens, hot water that did not function in the bathroom sink and just a forgotten in time feeling. I woke up the first morning with a slight backache and the second a serious backache as did my husband so the mattress was nothing to write home about. Sadly, this will be our last stay until or if they make some improvements to the rooms. For a premium price, it's just not worth it.

We last visited Grand Central about 5 months ago and we’re pleased with our visit then. Today we dropped into their restaurant for a romantic dinner and we’re totally surprised. First, we noticed they had remodeled and had done a terrific job! As we were seated we realized a trio was gathered around the piano and entertaining the small group present. As the evening progressed, the small group grew into a respectable crowd that appreciated their efforts as much as we did. While being entertained, the service and food were exemplary as we’ve grown to expect. Our server, Mark, was a gracious host and was always near to answer our questions or keep our dinner flowing without being obvious. We will return soon and hope you visit as well.

If you stay in this hotel DO NOT stay in Suite 101. We stayed there the weekend of 11/9/18 and it was, what is now hilarious, but then infuriating. The room is actually nice but the overall comfort is out the window! The entry to the room is directly from the outside. There are "blackout" curtains but they are about six inches too short at the top and some windows have no curtains at all, so the glaring street lamp will beam in the entire night. There is an old-timey double door in the room with a show curtain over it, that door goes directly into the restaurant office but the door has no lock, none, notta, zero. So the double door to the office and then to the restaurant is free for the public or employees to come and go in and out of your room whenever they may want. There is a beautiful 80" TV in the room but it is actually blocked by a pillar and they provide pillows but apparently they came from another room, they were a bit used.. The meal at the Grand restaurant was one of the best I've ever had, so maybe give that a try but even if there's no one in the restaurant they question you on reservations...they whole thing was quite interesting. We cancelled our second night and headed back home.

Stay at the Grand Central Hotel and Spa on Friday before the annual Zombie Crawl in Eureka Springs. You could feel the history of the hotel the minute you walked in. The restaurant and bar are beautiful and have a very warm feeling. Only wish is that the bar stayed open later as I believe they would have a good crowd and good for business. The room was very comfortable with plenty of space. It is dated but that is to expected with the age and history of the hotel. It did not take away from the stay or comfort. There is no elevator in this hotel so be prepared to walk up a few stars. Nothing major and it helps burn a few calories! :) The hotel is in a great location and easy walking distance to everything in historic downtown Eureka Springs. Overall, a nice stay at a good price.

When I booked this hotel I read reviews and also went to their website to do some research I do believe their website is very misleading. My husband and I decided to spend a little more on a room then we typically do because it was our anniversary weekend what we wanted was a hotel with a spa that is not what we received. When we walked in we couldn't find the front desk after we ask we found out that it was the fold out table in the dining room with a computer set on it, odd but okay the lady was very friendly as well as any others we ran into. We checked into our room and it was very large and had a nice walk out door onto the patio which overlooked the street which was nice however the door doesn't actually latch but that was okay just propped a chair in front of the door when we where out for the day. The Jacuzzi tub was huge however the water in all faucets needed to run for approx. 10 minutes before it would get hot and the water pressure in the sinks was pretty much non existent. We went down to the front desk to inquire about booking spa treatments and where given a brochure with a number on it, thought that was strange and wondered where the spa was, we called the number and the person answered and hung up, tried to call back and then just received static, finally after 6 hours I got a voicemail asking to leave a callback number I did, got a call back about 2 hours later it is an independent lady that no longer works for the Grand Central but will come into town for appointments, not exactly what I call a spa. we ended up booking treatments at another hotel. We left the room at about 9am on Monday morning with the door hanger requesting maid service we arrived back in our room to get ready for dinner about 6pm still no maid service. The room only had 3 bath towels, 2 hand towels, and 2 washcloths so we roamed the halls to find towels for the night found some sitting on a chair in the hall. The hotel does not have a front desk that is manned at all times they have very limited hours not what I expected , when paying what we did per night I would expect someone to be at the front desk for problems that is not the case, also when the hotel name says hotel and spa I believed that there would be a spa within the hotel. Walls and floors are very thin the hotel was pretty much empty but there was people in the room above us, we could hear everything which I am sure they also could also hear any noise that came from out room. On Sunday afternoon the curtain fell down it was on a tension rod, we tried to replace it because once again no one at the front desk, we where not able to accomplish this because the tension rod was shot and would not stay up. Another issue was the wood staining on Monday if we would have known that was going to happen we would have not stayed there as it triggers migraines. As I said I have very mixed feelings the people where very friendly, great locations, parking and a lot of potential but it just isn't where is should be for the price charged and also doesn't match what they are advertising this is not a hotel and spa it is a room rental. Room was clean and very sizeable and while we didn't get to eat in the dining room the food looked and smelled fabulous.

Lovely staff and clean and comfortable rooms is more important than breakfast anyway. Breakfast is availible several places in Eureka Springs. They don't get the five stars though, because they did charge extra for the sofa and did not tell us it was a king size bed the grown up kids could have used. Me and my husband could easily have used the queen sized bed.

We used to love staying here. It is now under new ownership and management. We tried to book 9 rooms for our staff for a Saturday along with 24 people for dinner. The first time we talked to them 3 months ago they were sure no problem. Then a month later we called back when they suggested and they said no we don’t do one nights. We will never stay at a place that does not honor their commitment. Now I see they are almost empty the day we were trying to book them.

I do not do reviews much because it takes some time and it seems every place you go anymore they're wanting a review. But this was a wonderful experience staff was very accommodating highly recommend this especially if you are a couple celebrating a special occasion.
