My first positive impression was formed while still sitting in my home in Vinton, Louisiana, when I met Garrett who was working the desk . His professional, but friendly and well spoken manner put me right at ease and this made the process go very smoothly. I made reservations for two nights 5/6 July and, on my day of arrival I was impressed for the second time when I was approaching the entrance to the Inn and saw it sitting so beautifully up on the hill next to HWY 7. It is so well laid out and the parking areas and all around are kept so neat, clean and orderly. My third positive impression, and it was a BIG one, was when I stepped into the front entrance to the building. It was such a welcoming feeling and Garrett added to that impression when he greeted me right away and I could put a face to go with the voice I heard on the phone. He quickly got me checked in and directed me to my room. I found the room to be so clean and orderly. It had everything I would need to be comfortable and was absolutely odor free. That was a super great plus for me because I am hyper when I am around any tobacco smoke residue or pet dander. Even certain perfumes will cause me ill effects. I thank the Owners, for insuring that type of smoke free room and wish to add right now that I think the housekeeping staff has done an excellent job. I have no idea how large that staff is, but I met one of the ladies. She took care of my room and was very professional, timely and friendly. She, like Garrett and the ladies who manage the front desk, all made me feel so welcomed and were always available to assist me in any way necessary while I enjoyed my stay. One thing extra that I found to be comforting was that they know the area . I could ask about certain places I needed to go and/or things I needed to see and they were a well of information. I don't think I am suppose to leave this review with no complaint . After all, I am told, nothing and no one except God and Jesus can be perfect, so after looking long and hard I discovered one fault with my room. I have not mentioned which room, so maybe you will happen there some day. My big complaint is that the down-pointing water spout in the bath tub is not perfectly aligned with the drain hole. I don't think it is off more than a degree or so, but, there you have it. I have no other negative comments. My thanks go out to the Owners of the chain of Inn(s), the management and staff of this particular Inn, all working together to provide us a safe ,clean, friendly place to rest our tired bodies. When I am in that area again, I will make it a point to make my reservation at Smackover, Arkansas Best Value Inn. Jehu Richmond, U.S.A.F. Retired
I think they should only allow certain rooms for animals. And they need better pillows and fresh carpet throughout the whole building. The front counter staff was very polite and helpful. Cleaning crew was courteous and timely. My family and I would recommend this place to anyone who visits Smackover, Arkansas.
Great value for the price. There are streaks on the carpet and probably due to oil field workers staying here. Bathroom is clean as well as linens. I’m pretty picky but this is the only hotel within 10+ miles and folk around here are pleased with it. I’m giving it a 3 out of 5 rating because of carpet but the overall hotel is good for 3 stars.
On the bright side, it was less expensive than hotels in Camden. But it was a nasty little property. Our room had no deadbolt, as the door, and the bathroom door, had been kicked in somewhere along the way. My husband had to love the truck from the rear of the hotel to the front, as there were some sketchy characters in the back lot for most of the night. Rooms were dirty, and the continental breakfast consisted of one muffin wrapped in plastic in a basket and a few pieces of stale bread. The gentlemen behind the front desk was very friendly at check on, but it went bad from there quickly. Not recommended at all.
Arrived and room we reserved online was up a flight up two flights of stairs. Could not get up there if you were on crutches or using a walker. Spilled a coke and grabbed one of the flimsy towels to mop it up and not that area of the carpet has a clean spot. Air was not on in the room on a 80+ day - old system that rattled every time it kicked off and on.
I recently stayed at this property while in the area for a dog show. There was little to choose from near the show- so- I ended up here thanks to the decent rating I saw on Trip Advisor. How in the world this can rate above one star is beyond me. The non-smoking room stunk. The comforter had clear band-aids stuck to it, a large burn hole in it and I don't want to know what else. When I stepped into the shower, I slipped and nearly fell. I later discovered that walking barefoot on the carpet resulted in black mold all over the bottom of my feet. All of the upholstery was stained, dirty. For the price, this is just not worth it. I will not stay here again. It sounded like there was a team of shetland ponies having a chuck wagon race in the room above me at night- no soundproofing.......No place to eat or get a meal anywhere near....I ended up going to a gas station for food...While there were only a couple of towels- I didn't complain since I really didn't want to use them anyway... I have to say , the front desk clerk was extremely nice and did his best to be helpful. That just wasn't enough. I will not be back.
The carpet was very worn and stained. There were dead bugs in the toilet paper dispenser, and brown spots on the toilet paper. There was a dirty musty smell. I would not stay here again. Very disappointing.
We were told 2 nights in a row that there were NO extra towels in the entire hotel. With 5 people in our room, we were given only 2 towels. The first night the hotel was kind of busy, so we sort of excused it, even though the employee didn't even get out of her chair to look in the back. The second night, when I mentioned how much emptier the parking lot was, I was told they had 31 rooms rented. How does a hotel with over 50 rooms, not have enough towels for even 30 guests?! It was very frustrating.
Smells like weed smoked out and housekeeper rushes you out so they can clean they are not worried about the customer they just want to get in there and do there job. Will never visit again and my husband seconds this!!!!
We have stayed at this property since 2013. Used to be days inn. Then it was a superb hotel. About two years ago ownership changed and it shows badly. We stay three times a year for various local events. Each of the past two years the quality had decreased. The attached towels and sheets were in our room on our bed. When I spoke with the GM about it his words were those were suppose to go in a workers room referring to long stay room. I was floored. Why would a hotel use these items in any room. When house keeping fails and when management does not care and owners do not reinvest in basics like sheets or towels.... no more me. Stay away. Going down hill like a mud slude.
