On planning an anniversary weekend we chose to see bits of Illinois.McGrady Inn was an excellent find.It provided history and flair with repurposed stained glass, old pictures, church pew mixed with an inviting spacious gathering room.We found our room remarkably clean and comfortable with special personal touches!
Back in March I planned a visit to Charleston and when looking for hotels the McGady B&B popped up. I never stayed at a B&B before and I figured why not?! I must say this was a wonderful experience!!. It is beautiful, clean and great location!! I plan to be back!!!
We were looking for a hotel alternative and found McGrady Inn. As soon as we walked in we knew we made the right choice. What a beautiful building. I loved how they saved all the old stained glass from the original church and repurposed it throughout the inn. The room was clean, comfortable and we had a nice and roomy bathroom. Oh and the sheets on the bed, were amazing!!!! Thanks for a great stay!
100-yr-old church, immaculately remodeled into a 5-room B&B with many saved stain glass windows, has a huge gathering/eating/kitchenette area. Our choir loft suite had a BR upstairs with shower & claw foot tub with ladder leading to downstairs BR. Fun. Karen was very hospitable. Very clean, well stocked for breakfast, very comfortable. Use of fridge helpful. Keurig and drip coffee makers. Thank you so much for welcoming us! P.S. Look for the fairy door.🧚♀️
You could stay at a conventional "run of the mill" over nighter... or you could just find a nightly stay in church *uplifting* =) Five different rooms provided but you'll feel like you have this elegant beauty to yourself! As Arnold said... "I'll be back!" It is as the owners descibe... PLUS!!
I recently hosted my daughter's bridal shower at the McGrady Inn. The beautiful architecture of this spacious renovated church from the early 1900's was simply stunning. The owners were accommodating to all my needs and desires and helped me to give my daughter a shower that she will remember always. This place is truly a gem in Charleston, Illinois. Running this inn is a family affair, and they do it with pride.
I just stayed at this gem last night while in town for a work trip. Karen, the owner, welcomed me as I arrived later in the night. She gave me a quick tour of the beautiful building, and showed me to my spotless room. The bathroom was very clean and stocked with the necessities, and the sheets, duvet, and pillow cases had been freshly washed (we all know by now to be apprehensive about hotel duvets and throw pillows, so this was great). I had the best sleep I’ve had in a while. Highly recommend!
I was in Charleston to visit my daughter for Guy's Weekend with her sorority at Eastern Illinois University. My stay at McGrady was excellent. The room was very nice with a clean and large bathroom. The common area amenities were nice as well. I also enjoyed the charm and vintage character of this facility and my host Karen made me feel very much at home. I can highly recommend the McGrady Inn and will definitely be staying again when my travels take me through Charelston.
This is an "experience", not just a place to sleep. First, Karen is a fabulous host and every detail has been considered. Walking in to this beautiful Bed & Breakfast will take your breath away, if you appreciate amazing architecture, wood beams, stained glass, and light. It is one of the most unique places I've stayed and I travel quite a bit. A surprise in this town of Charleston, IL, that is very nice. The room has all the amenities, with a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. I would HIGHLY recommend staying in this beautifully-renovated old church that will knock your socks off when you enter! It would be a fabulous option for overnight stays for a family wedding, or a corporate meeting. I believe six bedrooms are available, all with private baths.
Spent two nights at the McGrady Inn with my husband this weekend. The owners, Karen and Adam, are so warm and hospitable it’s like being welcomed into their home. The room was hands down the cleanest I’ve ever stayed in outside of my own home. The woodwork, original stained glass windows and special touches make this a great stay. Recommend staying here!
