The Coconut Palms needs a LOT of love. After I was moved - my first room was tiny, smelt, unclean and 2 floors away from the second room (for my colleague) I booked. We were then put together, but my room on the ground floor, windows did not lock at all. I am a female traveller and the windows from the outside could easily be slid open - this should never be acceptable regardless of the country you are in. Willy the security guard, got me 3 wooden battens to jimmy the windows. My air con went off every half an hour for three nights (I had to google how to fix myself) couldn't have windows open as they were jimmied shut by the wooden battens. TV did not work and I turned the fridge off as it hummed all night. In case, it seems like I am a whinger, I travel for work a lot and I have never put a review on trip advisor but I felt management need to read to step up their game! The 'resort' really is hostel standard.
Very basic. Simply just a bed in a room and we had our own bathroom as we luckily realised before booking, you either share a bathroom or pay extra to have your own. Beds where not very comfortable. A leak from the shower meant that our bathroom filled up with water. The room was dated, but kept clean. Our room included a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities our first room did not have if this. But we were moved to a room that did. The rooms had no safe. I'm not sure that they would be safe though, even if they did. My friends money was stolen out of our room when we were waiting at reception for a blanket. Upon complaining to reception together, the security guard went to "look" for our money. He then escorted us back to our room where the money has magicly reappeared. It was such a drama and I spent that night and the next feeling uneasy. The fire show on Saturday night was absolutely amazing! A must see while there. The location is great, just a small walk down the hill to the main street. The hotel is very overpriced for water and snacks. I suggest going to the shop across the road where you will get water for a third of the price or walk down to the corner where it's cheaper again. I do recommend the hotels Hot Chocolate as it is very delicious! The staff are nice, but very slow. Order your eggs as soon as you arrive for breakfast. Ask for pool towels and anything that you need before you need it, it's a long wait. Manager was lovely and give good recommendations for places to go and great to have a chat with.
Hotels location was very good as it is only a few minutes walk to the main part of town. The rooms look dated and dirty. Not all rooms have a shower and toilet attached. The Hibiscus rooms have shared facilities. The cleanliness of the shared facilities leave a lot to be desired. Be aware that if the pool is being filled there will be no water in the rooms and the place can do with a good clean. The staff are friendly and helpful but overall the hotel can do with some renovating.
We stayed for 5 nights. Room is very basic. Three star. Amenities are very tired in the room. Stained curtains, sheets etc. aircon and ceiling fan worked so acceptable. No Wifi in the rooms, wifi in main bar and dining area etc poor. But we stayed at another resort on Tanna and it was the same. Service, was island time.
The location is good but it's NOT a 5 min walk to town ( unless you're Usain Bolt) nor is it 10 mins to the beach. There is no beach! Staff are friendly and helpful and there is a nice atmosphere . Repairs & renovations are needed....for example, in our room there was a large piece of plaster missing from the wall.
Disappointing hotel not a resort miles from beach and shops . Tired but clean rooms. Meals good. Private balcony in our room overlooked the bar roof. Neighbours dogs barked all night. Rooms small no fly wire means its mosquitoes and fresh air or aircon.
I have just returned from 10 days at Coconut Palms Resort,a place I have stayed at many times before but more than 10 years ago when it was named Wild Pig. As others have mentioned it's position is fabulous,so close to town and the local hospital.Buses are constantly driving past so transport is always available, and of course walking distance to the market and shops.Just over the road is a small convenience store with an extremely unfriendly shopkeeper, but just a bit further down is a large "family store" which stocks anything you need, with very friendly Ni Van staff. My room (406)was perfect,on a deck, looking down over the glorious verdant gardens, consisting of palms, fruit trees and many different tropical plants. These all lead to a rustic thatched hut in the corner one way,and up to the pool the other. My bed was the best I have ever slept in in all my travels, with white cotton sheets and a blanket from Creswick knitting mills...lovely.The shower was brilliant too with toiletries supplied. There was a fridge and microwave and kitchen sink. The room was very spacious and comfortable. All staff were kind and friendly,in particular Bianca on reception, and the lovely Roslyn who cleaned my room so beautifully every day.Roslyn is typical of what makes Vanuatu so incredibly special, with her warmth and personable nature.Thankyou! And Jo's stunning and artistic flower arrangements were a joy to behold,he really has a talent. The free fire show on Saturday nights is a spectacular event and well worth watching. Breakfast has something for everyone, and I would like to suggest a larger variety of fruit, perhaps bananas e.g.Dinner is available too, service somewhat slow. Overall,a great and peaceful place to stay!
We just spent 7 days at Coconut Palms Resort in Port Villa. It is extremely central and as we are walkers we walked most places around the town, never using local buses until we ventured further afield. We had a bit of a muddle initially arriving at 2 am from the airport, and were in a temporary room briefly, however the management could not do enough to rectify this the next day (wine, flowers & correct room). Our third floor room was comfortable, large ensuite bathroom, fridge, microwave and jug were all we needed. Very comfortable bed. The pool was great and free WiFi as well. Extremely friendly staff. We would stay again.
I was surprised at the amenities here, they are very good. A good pool, a bar, a restaurant, a smoothie bar and a breakfast bar. The free breakfast is one of the best, also serving vegemite and nutella!! However my room was basic and there was a distinct mould smell throughout the corridors of the accommodation. Probably ventilation is a problem. NIce staff and a good vibe. Also the neighbours had music going for a while at night and in the morning I got woken up by a rooster around 5am so expect some noise if you stay here.
We enjoyed our 2 night stay - the facilities were good, the staff were friendly and the location was great. The room was large and bed was comfy, but the breakfast could have had just slightly more choice.
