We arrived to find that the room booked by flight centre for us was for shared bathroom and toilet! We paid for an uprgrade but the room was diabolical so we asked for our money back to go elsewhere when we were given the option of another room that while very basic was clean. Amenities were all outdated but the staff were amazing! I hope their employer realizes their value because they made our week wonderful. My advice is to check what you are paying for!
What a disappointment! I was really excited for my stay at Coconut Palm Resort. Arrived at about 11:30pm in the evening and was escorted to my single bed budget room. DO NOT book this room ever! Tiniest room I have ever seen! It was 25°C at 23:30 and no aircondition in this room! Needless to say I didn't get any sleep. The next day I was able to upgrade after paying an extra 4200 vatu. The new room had an aircon but the bathroom really needs an upgrade and a proper clean. The shower curtains are disgusting. I booked through Hotels.com and it said that breakfast was included. When I arrived for breakfast they told me I had to pay. They only agreed to include it once I emailed my booking that stated breakfast was included. I can not believe this place was rated so well by other travellers. In future I would much rather stay somewhere else when I visit Vanuatu again, even if I have to pay much more.
Firstly I must say that this Hotel was not my choice. I was a tag along traveller. My fellow travelers booked this place. We had to pay for an upgrade upon arrival as we were informed that we would be sharing a toilet and bathroom with other guests and that we had no air conditioning. Our upgrade fixed this problem for us, but be aware of which room you are booking in advance. We ran out of hot water every single morning and therefore had cold showers. The beds in our room needed updating as they were very well worn and did not provide adequate support. There are no tissues provided in the rooms nor face washers. The pool is amazing but the staff are this place' saving grace! The staff are friendly, helpful and polite. We couldn't fault them. Just be prepared for everyone working on "Island time".
If you are looking for a good spot to stay in Vila that is central, well run and well priced I highly recommend the Coconut Palms Resort.I stayed in a basic two bed room with a balcony but there are a range of room options. The free breakfast included in my package was very good for the price while the lunch and dinners were excellent .I can really recommend you try the prawn curry or roast chicken in creamy mustard. There are Burgers Pizza & Pasta also on a varied menu .A big thank you to Sabrina, Helen, Joe, Daniel and Mansop who along with Cathy on reception make for some of the friendliest and helpful staff I have met on my stays in Vila.Congratulations Elliot on a great team. The hotel is clean with a choice of inside areas and great pool area to eat by and nice gardens to the side.If you are looking for an affordable well positioned clean friendly hotel for a Vila stopover or getaway I can highly recommend the Coconut Palms Resort Thanks for a great stay
My wife and i stayed for 5 nights here and had a wonderful time. The staff are so friendly and happy to serve you. We did the Kava tasting which was alot of fun and informative with David and Daniel. The 1st taste is awful😂 but gets better after a few more 😂. The Melanesian dance show on Saturdays was also great. Its not a 5 star resort but great food and staff make it awesome. Would definitely stay again when in Port Vila.
The stay started off badly by the staff mixing up our booking with someone else's, forcing us to stay in a tiny room on the ground floor with a window looking out on a noisy bar. After the mix up was sorted, we were moved to the room we actually paid for and it wasn't much better. The rooms are old and not very clean and really need something other than a freshly picked hibiscus flower placed on the toilet seat every morning to keep your mind off the fact that the room looks like a hospital chamber. On the upside, the staff are friendly, albeit lacking in English skills, and are eager to please. We went out fishing and the hotel agreed to cook our fish for us and did a good job of it too! Be prepared for some very persistent mosquitos! Bring sprays and plug in repellants since the hotel didn't even have the little incense-style spiral repellants and had to send our a staff member to a nearby gas station to buy some for us.
We just stayed there for 1 night as we arrived in the early hours of the morning. Had a sleep then got up to breakfast and a swim. Not sure if there would be enough for the whole family for a long term stay. Was a 10min walk to town so was doable with young kids.
The bed was very comfortable and a king size but there was only one bedside table because 2 couldn't fit. The kettle leaked and the room was old. The breakfast was very poor. Things ran out and no one was there to replace them. Cracked tiles on the stairs and very pokey.
Overall it was a solid 3 star. Good value for a budget accommodation. Food was great but slow. Most of the listed entertainment was either non existent or cancelled. Wifi is okay but island speed. Generally clean and tidy but needs a bit of maintenance. For Vila, it's pretty good but certainly not resort standard.
A very reasonable resort with free Wi-Fi at the reception however family rooms are quite small. Spending time in the rooms not recommended when the lounge, swimming pool, bars are outside n quite a big space. ANZ ATM is 2 mins walk to family store where one can buy food etc even restaurants are there. Recommended
