We stayed here for 1 night to wait for our son's ship arriving in Leith. We had a very smooth check in with a really friendly and efficient receptionist. The apartment was perfect for the 4 of us with a fantastic view and we were able to watch the ship sail straight in. A perfect location for anyone using the cruise terminal.
The concierge made every effort to accommodate us before check-in time which was lovely as we'd had a long journey. Easy check in arrangement and a clean perfectly adequate apartment for our needs. Its not luxurious but we didn't pay luxury prices. Yes there were a couple of things that could be improved: stained carpets, drafty windows, no mirrors in the bedrooms but overall very good value for money.
Nice apartment. Living & kitchen area good size for 6 people. Only 1 room had en suite with a shower. Main bathroom did not have shower facilities. When booking, the ad appeared to indicate that this was not the case. No wardrobes/ storage facilities in 3rd bedroom, For 1 night facilities ok. Location, bit out of the way, however, there is a place every 15 mins to & from city centre, so excellent that way. Lovely location though, shame the weather was poor when we stayed. Dishwasher was not emptied from last occupants.
Booked this for my family. Other than problems checking in, when they got into the 3 bedroom room they found it the floor was dirty, the beds uncomfortable and the view from the room was onto other buildings. We go a way a lot and disappointed with the standard of this place.
The apartment is located about 5km from the city centre but there is a bus at the apartments that goes directly into the city. Coming back to the apartments each night was perfect! Great place for a morning run along the harbour and watching the sun set.
I stayed there with my family for three nights from the 11th to 14th April this year. I must say it is good value for money with excellent kitchen facilities which gives you the option of either cooking yourself or dining at the restaurants round at the water front. Its a good base to have if on vacation in Edinburgh with public transport right on your door step or its a short drive into the city centre with cheap parking on London Road and only a short walk from there to Princess Street. (There is one question below in this review form which I wish Tripadvisor would remove and that is "Is this a quaint hotel"? I do wish they would remove that question as it sounds a typically stupid American on holiday in Scotland type of question which I shall not answer). Enjoyed the stay. And would recommend highly!
This was our third visit and we booked a three-bedroomed apartment this time. It was very spacious with plenty of wardrobe/storage space. We had a view of the Firth to our right, looking across to the three bridges. The apartment was clean, well-presented and comfortable, with everything needed for a few days stay. It was useful to be able to have a later check-out time, and the receptionist was very helpful and efficient. The only thing we didn't have was for each bedroom to be provided with two bedside reading lamps....one bedroom didn't have any. But that's the only minor fault in this well-equipped accommodation. We shall certainly book here again.
Large 2 bed apartment with bathroom and en suite. So much more relaxing space to be in rather than just a hotel room. A little out if the way from the centre but bus is frequent every 15 minutes. Free parking too saves you approx. £16 in the centre. I will return.
We went 6 of us in a 3 bedroom apartment; it was clean, the flat was spacious, we had a terrace and you could see the sea on the right, we had ASDA very close ( 10 min walking ) and the bus station is 1 min away . You need to have cash with you ( the trip is 1.60 and they don't give change ) and you can't pay by card. I really enjoyed our time in the flat , so it's really a good choice if you go with friends and you want to have a relaxed time in the living room or terrace.
Edinburgh is a beautiful city - but a pain if you have a car with you. The Hot-el apartments in Newhaven are great if you have travelled by car. There is free parking, underground if you wish, but on-road is perfectly safe. The location is served by a regular bus service to the centre of Edinburgh. Pay £4 and you can travel on Scotland's best city buses all day. The apartments are clean, spacious and have everything you need. There is a 24 hour supermarket only a few minutes away. The views from the apartments are mainly over the Forth and Leith harbour (with the Britannia). We've stayed here before, and in some other apartments, but we prefer the Hot-el ones. The concierge/receptionist was very welcoming and friendly.
