We stayed here for 3 nights and booked a room with private bath. Room was very large and comfortable, with own bathroom and toilet Communal meals area, for continental breakfast which is more than adequate, you can also use this area for own meals but as should be the case, you do your own dishes On site parking and very close to town (2 streets) Property is on the market and is in need of some tlc, although having said that it has a very homely feeling Well worth the stay
A nice warm friendly place to stay while in Dunedin. Very central being only one street from the octagon, and even better only one street from the famous Speights brewery (& brewery tour). Definately value for money.
I stayed at Hulmes Court BnB for two nights in the middle of April. It's a small and incredibly cute Victorian cottage, conveniently situated by the Octagon (the very centre of Dunedin). The bnb has multiple double rooms of different sizes (one of them must include the turret!) and a single room with a round stained-glass window, which I occupied for two nights. The entire building is very cosy; it also has a common room with a fireplace which is lit during winter time. A decent breakfast is served in this room in the morning. To the lady who runs the place: It was very nice meeting you and if I am in Dunedin again, I will definitely stay at your bnb again :)
I booked a single bed room, simple, with shared bathroom. There is a selection of rooms, many with ensuite. My room was comfortable, clean and perfect for my 3 night visit. Breakfast was plentiful and many choices. Filtered water, coffee and tea available 24/7. From 6am till 9pm there is someone available for what ever question you have. Note for those that don't like cats perhaps avoid. Although I enjoyed encountering them. It is just up the hill (as is everything in Dunedin), so flat shoes a must.
Very central to town of Dunedin although at the top of a very steep hill. Parking could be an issue on a weekday but I was okay on a Sunday. Very friendly comfortable B&b for the price I did not have high expectations. Shared joint toilet and bathroom could be challenging at peak times. I left too early for breakfast but was offered to make my own which I didn't have time to do. Would I stay again. A definite maybe. It seems like an upgraded youth hostel and they generally encourage mixing with different people of differing backgrounds which again I did not have time to do but felt there was potential for fantastic socialising.
The location of this B&B was good for access to the city but the very steep road up to the property and the parking was not mentioned anywhere. The drive to the small car park is not for the faint-hearted and the walk up and down the hill to town needs a few stops. The B&B appeared to be run by students, we didn't see the owners and although the breakfast was good, it was in what felt like a backpackers breakfast room. Sorry, but this was our worst stay in New Zealand. TV didn't work either - had to stand and hold the antenna to see any picture at all. Poor WiFi and shared laundry with the B&B.
Beautiful old home management excellent supported by great staff. Excellent breakfast rooms well appointed parking provided. Very close to all tourist sites and the city centre. Comfortable beds all rooms heating inside.
This is an old quirky B&B run by a nice helpful woman from Vladivostok and her kiwi partner. It has a variety of rooms with and without an ensuite bathroom. Its around the corner up View street which is a block long but very steep hill. Its not a fancy place and breakfast consists of many types bread , cereal and yoghurt with some meat and cheese . The cats stay on the ground floor and weren't a problem for my allergies. All the employees are friendly and helpful. The bathroom had very little room for my stuff but the bath/ shower had plenty of hot water. Dunedin is a great town with lots of students.
I stayed in this hotel for two nights. Although this hotel is ten minutes’ walk from Octagon (City Center), this hotel is situated in upside hill area. There is no public transport from Dunedin Airport to city center. Only door to door shuttle service is available from the airport. City center is quite far Dunedin Airport. This hotel is very difficult to locate and tiresome to reach this hotel with luggage’s because of steepness of the road. This hotel has no 24 hrs. reception desk. Actually there is no reception desk. One caretaker lady sits on chair and table. She works up to 2100 hrs. Guests have to carry big bunch of keys for going outside to enter beyond 2100 hrs. Breakfast is included the room rate. Breakfast is ordinary. Only bread, jam, butter, fruit, yoghurt, tea, coffee are available. No egg items are there. Two cats are moving here and there in the hotel and breakfast room. It is in calm and quite area and no shops and eateries are available around this hotel. Room was big. Bed was comfortable. Toilet was neat and clean. Shower height was small. They service room every day. Most the nearby attractions can be accessed by foot from this hotel and rest by public transport buses available from Octagon bus stand.
This place was a bit weird. Friendly staff member and nice comfy bed but old and shabby interior, only one bathroom to be seen (to be shared among many guests), and poor selection at breakfast. Good location and price but could be cleaner and have better upkeep.
