We are Americans who came to Sandymount Hotel to attend a game at Aviva Stadium. On the whole, no complaints. It is 2 minute walk to the stadium (if that), so it is perfect for that purpose. The hotel is also a short walk (5 min) from a light rail station for trips into Dublin's city center. The hotel appears to be cobbled together from several adjacent buildings, so the rooms and interiors are not purpose-built for a hotel. Our room was quite small (just enough space to walk around the bed, with a small desk in one corner and a small chair in the other), but pleasantly decorated with a comfortable bed. It also had a small but nicely renovated contemporary bathroom with shower. The morning breakfast buffet (€12pp) was good value. One thing to note is that the hotel has *very* narrow hallways and doors, and some of the rooms are only accessible via narrow, steep staircases. If you have heavy or unwieldy luggage, or if you have mobility problems in general, you should make a point of inquiring about your specific room location before booking.
The hotel is very quaint, and is located about 30 minutes walking time from the city center. The room was a bit smaller than expected, nestled in the bottom corner of the hotel and looking directly in to the breakfast dining area. We had two twin beds, which were very comfortable and looked bigger than twins, so no complaints there. Tiny bathroom and small shower. Overall, I enjoyed my stay, but would only return if I had time for a longer stay or was planning on attending a game at the stadium.
Good location. Close to the DART. Friendly staff, clean rooms and good food. Just what we wanted for our trip to Ireland.
It was a decent location and the cleaning staff was excellent. The front desk staff were very polite, professional and helped how they could. I arrived early in the morning quite exhausted and the woman who checked me in was kind enough to find me room about an hour after i arrived even though it was several hours before "check in". The evening restaurant staff, however, left something to be desired. Breakfast staff were great.
This hotel is a perfect place to stay in order to explore Dublin. All the main attractions are within an easy 20 to 30 minute walk. Hotel rooms are great, staff is friendly and helpful and the bar / restaurant are great.
I genuinely enjoyed my stay. Certainly, this hotel is not in the centre of Dublin but via DART it is only about a 15 minute ride from Connolly Station and even less to the South Bank. The room was more than satisfactory and the breakfast was quite good and worth the €10 you spend on it. The staff was more than willing to assist me in hiring taxis, recommending restaurants, and on planning things to do.
Easy to find, good city location. Great amenities and staff.UI
Found this place on a whim after staying in outer Dublin for the bulk of our trip. We stayed for only two days but the staff was very nice. The rooms are small and as far as views go, it's the suburbs. You need to grab a wi-fi voucher in order to use the internet which is kinda intrusive, but free. It's an older building, only one real exit, with kind of odd hallways with twists and turns, but has much charm and modern accommodation. Very quiet and close to the O2, a 5-10 min walk from the quaint village nearby to get some late night pints or rockin' Indian food at Indie.
