Grand Canal Hotel Dublin

Real close to the city center. Train across street, bus 5 minute walk. Grand canal hotel is secure, with parking, The staff was exceptional helpful and courteous. The rooms are clean, and beds were comfortable. Hop on hop off bus (green bus) come to hotel, and the red bus is 10 minute walk.

Nice hotel in a good location - DART station right around the corner. 15 minute walk to Grafton Street, St Stephen's Green, Temple Bar. Nice restaurants and pubs right next to the hotel. Only complaint: room temperature can't be controlled, and it was very warm, even with windows open. We requested a table fan, which did help. Staff very courteous and helpful. We will return !

For the money, this was an ideal hotel. I walked everywhere - Temple Bar area, 3Arena, the works. Everything was roughly 15-20 minutes. The staff was great. The rooms were great. And The Gasworks Pub - a great spot to end my nights. I would definitely stay there again.

We had previously booked another hotel, but our son recommended otherwise. We were able to change to the well located Grand Canal Hotel. It is perhaps a mile to Grafton Street etc through very nice parts of the city(St. Stephen's Green,The Grand Canal). The interior of the hotel is great & it has great parking underneath the hotel which features wide enough spaces and passages so I felt relatively comfortable maneuvering our rental car in and out. It is also easy accesss from the highway(N7) & the airport.I give this hotel my hearty endorsement.

Very nice hotel. Rooms are well appointed, comfortable and quiet. Excellent location. The staff is extremely helpful. The room and bathroom were good size. We would stay here again. Great value for the price!!

Overall for the price it was a great stay and the staff was amazing ! Wi-fi was a little frustrating at times. It's not right in the center of things but not that far away from great bars. Location isn't the best but not expensive as the hotels right where all the action is

Room was spacious and loved the retro decor. Received a room upgrade as we arrived in the morning after an overnight flight and the hotel had a cancellation for the upgraded room. We thoroughly enjoyed staying there. Walked to downtown in 20 minutes. 7 minute walk to HopOn HopOff Bus. Value is great. It is still a saving to stay here and take a taxi into Temple Bar if you don't want to walk.

Good hotel , not as close to downtown as we had hoped. Staff very helpful and friendly , good size room ,quite room location ,would definitely come back

Good hotel in nice location. Near the DART, Googleland, AVIVA, Trinity College. Stephens Green is a walkable distance, about 20 min.

The hotel is an easy 5 to 15 walk to pretty much anything you want to do in Dublin. Interestingly, it is also home to Rotary Club #1 for Europe, so go for that too! However, the facilities, especially the bathroom are quite substandard and ragged. The tub is very narrow, causing the shower curtian to basically be stuck to you the whole shower (don't want to think how often or if this curtian is ever cleaned -- gross). The tub had yellow stains at the bottom of it due to bad drainage. The water pressure was not constant and would change from hot to cold and back to scalding in a matter of seconds dozens of times in the course of a short shower. The mattress was clearly old given the roll to center feeling of it. Pillows were nice and firm, though. If you like to walk this is a good hotel, but spend as little time as possible in your room.

Hotel is functional and close to the Energy Theater. Nothing really fancy, in fact, it really needs to update its bathrooms and exercise area. Don't expect a "luxury" hotel.

The Grand Canal Hotel was comfortable, clean and friendly with good breakfasts. We chose it for price and ratings. We like to walk and enjoyed the 20+ minute walk to central Dublin. There is a bus for € 2 a block away. I would recommend this hotel to business colleagues or friends traveling' to or through Dublin.

Overall, the room was nice and clean. The staff were helpful. One improvement that should be made is to tidy up the backyard that guests see through their windows if their rooms happen to face the back.

My girlfriend and I went for the St. Patrick's Day celebration, it is a bit of a walk to the city center but nice hotel overall. The price was good and even taking a cab fare into consideration it was still a good value in the end.

The hotel, situated in the Georgian section of Dublin is close enough to the center of town and far enough away to be quiet at night. The pub attached, the Gasworks, is the perfect place to share a pint and some conversation. The Epic Restaurant gives a greater restaurant experience. Overall, the perfect place.

I was delayed several hours into Dublin seriously affecting my trip. if not for the front desk arranging to get my bag which arrived even later, scheduling cab rides, mapping out where to go and what to see, getting me a European phone charger and even a free drink at the bar my trip would have been ruined. I highly suggest the location its right outside city centre with close proximity to the metro rail. still able to walk there if u want. the rooms are nice, they have a shuttle to and from the airport and overall when I return to Dublin I would not stay anywhere else.

Price / value it`s ok.what i didn`t like is the fact that over the night the heat is off ... an Ireland has quite qa cold weather. Stuff very friendly ... free wifi definetly a plus.

I stayed at this hotel for three nights and was very happy with my stay. The hotel is in a great neighborhood and a fairly convenient walk to anywhere I needed to go- maybe 20 minutes or so to the city centre. I took the bus from the airport and only had to walk a few minutes to the nearest stop which was convenient. The rooms were alright but comfortable, but for the great deal I found on this hotel I felt it was a great value and would stay again.

If I could give the Grand Canal Hotel 6 stars I would. Hands down, the best deal on a hotel I got on my trek across the UK and southern Ireland. We booked our room at around 1am the morning of our stay (we were on an over night train/ferry from London) and got to the hotel at 7am with no Euros (didn't know the exchange office didn't open till 9). The morning manager got us to an ATM so that we could pay the cab, offered to hold our bags for us (no charge), let us recover and use the internet in the very comfortable lobby, answered all of our questions with patients (we were irritatingly ignorant of how to get around Dublin) and managed to get us into our room 4 hours early so that we could take a nap (hadn't slept in 36 hours) before getting out to see the city. When we got to the room, we found that we had a beautiful view of the oldest football stadium in existence, the bathroom was very large and well equipped, the bed was comfortable, there were all of the little extras we could want, and the whole place was spotless. Plus there was free wifi that was very fast. We wanted to try the restaurant and bar because they looked excellent, but we didn't make it back to the hotel until late, so I don't know if they are any good. But they certainly looked it. The hotel has a perfect location. It was 10 minutes from the port (if you are coming in by ferry) 10 minutes walking distance to downtown, and is in a very nice neighborhood. Close enough to everything be convenient but far enough away to be quite at night. The only complaint that I had about the hotel was that the room was a bit stuffy and hot. However, I will point out that we were there on the two hottest days of the entire year. So... While I'm sure there are other hotels in Dublin that are nicer and more extravagant, there is no way you could get a better deal. This is a 4 star hotel at a 2 star price. That makes it a 5 star booking for me.

Nice place, but the location wasn't as close to the tourist attractions as I would have liked (although still walking distance). I would stay there again if that part of town was where I was travelling, but would look for something closer if I was there for sightseeing.
